These look great! I used to play heroclix when I was a kid back in 2003. I still have my originals and recently found them and caught interest again. Glad to see the game is still kicking strong and these sculpts are amazing!!
Dude, I love your channel. I'm new to clix and love going back through your catalog of videos, especially the set reviews. Bought both of these recently as I'm working to start a collection. I like hearing an advanced players opinion on how functional or competitive these pieces are. Evaluating dials and thinking about team builds are two of my favorite parts of Heroclix. I absolutely love the Harley figure and dial. Thanks for all the content!
@@HeroclixHeadquartersHey I’ll piggyback on Josh’s comment as well. I’ve played heroclix on and off since 2012, and I’ve really appreciated your insight on each set as well. Really like your unboxings as well. Have you ever considered doing any old set unboxings? My first sets were 10th anniversary. Have a lot of great memories of that time. Cheers!
@@HeroclixHeadquarters Lol yes, but seriously, very good video, quite informative, I agree that the DC starter figures are better in general, but I really want that spiderman, I love that sculpt, I think I will eventually end up getting both
The price is pretty outrageous, especially considering Wizkids used to release different types of starter sets for beginners; at a much more discounted price for actual beginners wanting to jump into the game with a low entry point. I started playing around Infinity Challenge and quit after Wizkids lost their publisher at the time (Topps). $39.99 MSRP is asking a lot for only 4 figures, even if you adjusted for inflation for the original starter/beginner sets decades ago. Not to mention if any of the dials are worth playing at a competitive level, considering some of the old starter sets (ICONS Batman) pieces did see competitive play. Whoever was in charge of marketing a "starter" product needs to be fired. There's no reason to over inflate the price with map pieces that will just get retired down the line and they should've just stuck with a traditional paper map to lower cost. The need for 2 cards per character just drives up the price, in addition more work for the graphic designer to create more files and possibly mistakes/misprints. As a game designer, you need to simplify and streamline your products and not give the impression that every figure (outside of the starter) comes with 2-character specific cards... unless of course Wizkids is planning to make chase character cards with better abilities than the base figure card of a booster set... I wouldn't be surprised if they do, considering how popular Legacy cards have been. Not to say the miniature table top market is "affordable", but we are living in a recession. It's not 2020 where everyone's cashing in their free checks, spending their vacation money on hobbies, vintage collectables, etc. Hasbro let go over a thousand employees just before Christmas, not to mention the gaming industry and Silicon Valley just purged excessive hires recently. Inflation is at an all time high and still climbing; with food prices being the most notable with larger families. That $40 price tag just seems so excessive for 4 characters that are constantly printed/reprinted to oblivion with better stat dials each year. I can see why online retailers like Troll & Toad are so sour about buying new Heroclix sealed products when they're forced to clearance them out years later. Miniature Tabletop is a niche market, but pricing out your average family doesn't help matters much. $20 has always been the sweet spot for game night purchases, especially for entry level products. Apparently, Wizkids still thinks it's 2020.
so i just bought the marvel set a couple of months ago, i still haven't played but was wondering, if i were to try to improve the team, what characters would you guys recommend me to get?
If you want to get more avengers to add to the team I'd start with the recent Avenger sets, Avengers forever and Avengers 60th anniversary. Both have a lot of good Avengers to play around with and find what you like
Brother I think spider man’s on Chrysler building they are close, only reason I know is I had a avengers pinball machine with the Chrysler building in it.Sorry not meaning to be a jerk and I might be wrong but it looks like it.
I'm a total newbie wanting to get into Heroclix and I have two questiosn for you: 1) I'm considering buying both those sets because while I'm a Marvel fan my girlfriends loves Harley Quinn. Is it possible to combine Marvel and DC characters in the same game? 2) Are there any X-Men sets that would be good for a newbie like me?
Hey, welcome to the game! 1. Yes! There are no rules against mixing universes. 2. The X of Swords set is the most recent X men set, I'd recommend starting there or waiting a few months till we get the Deadpool, Weapon X set.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters Thanks! What about a team of multiple versions of the same character? I noticed there various versions of Harley Quinn and I feel like it would be badass to have some sort of multiverse team of Harleys
I think MARVEL has better made Avengers line up than DC one..from the DC starter you get a REALLY good Superman and ok Harley and Batman. Avengers work better when played togheter.. though Carol maybe isnt that great.. other than sculpt
@@HeroclixHeadquarters What the popularity? Is the game looking strong? I used to say it's a great game because you don't need 80 dollars pieces to win. Has the meta stayed balanced?
My thoughts are the Marvel Starter has the best sculpts, and dice, and DC has the better dials. Great video!!
Thanks! Good points too
Weird to think this is the only Ben Reilly version Spider-Man. Thought maybe the 90s sensational suit would be made at some point.

I didn't know which of the 2 to buy, thanks to this video I already decided I'm going to buy both and not eat for a few days
Sacrifices must be made... lol

Yeah also don't like the prices for only four figs. But looks like people are buying it... 🤷
Just realized that superman's 75 pt card has 11 attack but dial has 12 for attack 😳 😅
Lol, yeah, it's easy to miss. The dial and other card both have 12, so I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be 12.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters I noticed it during a practice run of the teams lol I'm like ummm I think it's dial damage so I went with that hahaha

Seems the paint has improved a lot
I had to make a choice, but went with Marvel because of the characters.
Can't blame you there, I'm a big fan of Spider-man and Iron Man, so I probably would have done the same
R these the most updated rules?
Yes these are the newest starter sets

Prefer the dc starter but I do like the Captain Marvel
She's probably my favorite from the marvel starter too
I’m a dc guy but the marvel looks better
Ima former pro but I haven't played since war of light left rotation
That was a great time, but if you're thinking about getting back into it, I'd say now is a good time to start again
