Nearest is the best if it is too far you will pay more money for transportation and you will not go often. If you will live in the new land you can buy anywhere you like.
I often wonder, do the gov'ts cause trouble for people like you Jon Jandai? Who try to be independent? What about Land Taxes? Are they high in Thailand? I would like to do similar things in USA, but only places with low taxes are far away from the cities.
Uncle, Can you give me an advise about cow dung? I want to collect cow dung to use as fertilizer but I've read some articles about the E. Coli in cow manure? Does it make our family sick?
If you are worried, you can use egg shells which are very rich in calcium and, of course, if you compost all your vegetable and fruit peels, that's the best. I'm vegan so I never used cow manure but I read an article online, maybe also available on TH-cam, called Veganic vs Organic. It explains why it is best to avoid manure in general to avoid pests and other problems. They cultivate the land in the US with incredible results!

TN might be a good place. Good mountain land. Fairly inexpensive. No regulations.
