Lost passport, visa, flight ticket, phone, computer and house key.
Reported everything lost. Got new Passports.
Just like Jan Chettan did we had copies of passports and visa as back up.
Didn't get them back as you guys. But learned a lot from these experiences.
We are frequent travellers and are extremely careful and we also share our experiences so that people also learns from this.

Actually in USA, Indian passport is in high demand in black markets. So don't expect to get it back once stolen. Also never felt like Dubai is a safe haven! May be in high class area, no one takes others stuffs. But not true for everywhere in gulf countries. Then these kind of experience can happen for regular travelers and so just take good lessons from that.

As a *family* they target people who are abroad and coming to Kerala . The sad thing is the *lawyer , and the police* are part of this gang. They are very *active* in Thiruvalla , kottayam , chengnassery , Erknakulam area.

This Pentecostal pastor is a financial fraud who forces people to sign documents under a knife and snatches Money , so that even when they file a police complaint , the document signed becomes a proof that they have voluntarily given away !!

Even our house isnt a safe heaven...so glad tht u shared ur story..similarly i also had a such an experience 3 weeks back..a robberry at my parents flat and they had gone on emergency trip 2 india....and i was at office. My housemaid called paniclly and informed about this.....so much issues.....i didnt initially file a case coz 80% of things were at home ...the loss was around 20000 aed. however after a week, with gods grace, we councidently realise that it was my maid who did everythng!!! That was such a shock coz i used to leave my baby with her alone.....i just thank god for my baby is safe...and learned a lot frm ths incident....dont trust anyone ...

Good that you got the passports back. I had the same incident in Rome long back. I was on an onsite to Germany and did a weekend trip to Rome n Venice. Being my first ever abroad trip and lack of experience (I was only 22 years then) I had no clue about the safety measures and had all the money, passport, tickets, travellers cheque all in my hand bag . Everything went n thankfully I had Xerox copies of all documents n then went back to Germany based on FIR filed in Rome. Thankfully they allowed at the boarder as pickpocketing was common in Rome. Had to come back to India on emergency certificate. A learning experience I will never ever forget in my life.

Veena...You should have stayed in Hotel. That's utmost safe comfortable & convenient. My Mother & Brother went to Paris & GeGermany...they both so nicely stayed in Hotel...HYATT & MARRIOTT. Staying in an independent house is absolutely Dangerous & UNSAFE.

Nice awareness video refarding safety precautions. I also had a similar experience when travelling to Singapore. Luckily, passport was lost at airport. We did file a police complaint. However, we were lucky enough to get the passport from Lost and Found section in airport - so please keep in mind to check in this section as well.. I couldnt recollect where or how I lost the passport n we only realised it wen i had to produce the document at hotel.

Hi veena chechi, did you guys book through Airbnb and was it accessed through a lock code? 'cos it really sounds like an Airbnb scam. They could have access to your homes, or even have hidden cameras and know what valuables you have. Please be careful when you travel next time. Hotels are safer I believe.

One advice I had being a regular traveller is that you had shown the exact address and house number when in your first Portugal video. Probably somebody could have used that information and maybe next time you can avoid putting real time information. God bless you guys..

We are regular travellers. I always keep extra pp copy in all bags. I can imagine the situation and hatsoff to Jan to handle this situation without being panic. The same happened to brother in Germany while travelling in train. Ohhh my God!!Thank God. .Nov last our wallet has been lost with full of money and civil iD and bank cards.One car hitted behind our car and other car fully gone and my husband and friend got down but he didn't realise that his wallet fell down. When he came back home only realised,then they went back and nothing was there. We were so sad and prayed for that. After 1 week that Kuwaiti man called my husband and told he got the purse. He got number from oreedo and viva.Nothing has been lost.He came near to our bldg and gave it to my husband. Thank God for the miracle.

There are gangs who specifically target tourists and watch them. As jann chetan said they dint harm you thats lucky.They do this to tourists because they know they will not stay there for long and sorry to say consider this an experience and very low chance you get ur things back as local police dont take these seriously.

Burglaries can happen anywhere anytime . This is our first experience in terms of a break in and we have stayed in a number of apartments, where we had no problems. So no biases .
