It’s important to remember that the photos we see of celebrities are the result of teams of people. Glam squads. They are creating a look to be photographed in a particular environment (red carpet/indoor photo shoot) and then there’s photoshop and now ai to smooth out skin and remove blemishes or imperfections that might be exaggerated due to a darker hair colour. We could never achieve those results on our own.
I am a hairstylist and artist, this is wonderful advice! There are cool and warm tones for every color. We all have different skin types, tones and colors. It’s so complicated but once you find your signature, it’s yours! ❤
There are so many style/ colour analysis youtubers out there, and the only ones i watch on a regular basis are Aly Art and Style Me Jenn. Mainly because they always share great visual examples, their descriptions are very clear and easily understandable, they provide consistent, logical explanations and also come across as genuinely sweet and likeable people. So many youtubers who are either vague or their videos contradict each other, making me even more confused 😂 also there are some who talk a lot but don't show enough examples so it's very difficult to practically understand/ visualize/ apply what they are trying to say (not to mention i find that very boring). And others sound super arrogant, as if they are the sole expert and every other system is trash, which puts me off as well.
Aly i saw a video of you with your natural color and chin length. I liked it so much that i got my hair cut like that, and I get compliments every day! Not sure about my natural color since i now have a big streak of white!
Can you please include white hair in your going gray video? I'm a 65 year old FN with naturally creamy white hair and dark eyes. Trying to understand how to work with it to my advantage.
If I may venture to speak on the subject, I would say grey and white hair looks brilliant on both FN and SN. It enhances the air of uncompromising authenticity associated with both, and as long as it's in a hairstyle that you feel satisfied with, it should be fine.
I would love to see a deep dive on Olive skin. I have fair olive skin and there is so much misconception. I thought I was warm for YEARS. Quite the opposite. I’m so cool toned!
I dyed my hair black last year and even though I loooved it, it didn't look good on me, I looked like I was wearing a Halloween wig 😢... so I went back to medium brown 🤷🏻♀️
Hi Aly, great video. We would really like to see a viewer analysis series based on Kibbe types and color seasons. Regular people sending in regular photos of themselves. Maybe an analysis of best hair color and cut based on your assumptions of their Kibbe types and color seasons. It would be great to see more “normal” people so we can see ourselves represented more. I have seen more “normal” people with my coloration and body type than I have seen celebrities with it. Celebrity procedures of any kind (and mostly red carpet photos with great lighting) make it hard to tell what they actually are. Much appreciated, we love your content! Always so helpful.
Echo other comments about gray hair. I recently started growing my grays and looking forward to meeting my own hair color after many years. I’m curious what changes to makeup and clothing might be needed for person who needs more contrast, or Kibbe personality like theatrical romantic. Thank you for wonderful content you present on your channel. ❤❤❤
One thing I recall from that one video of Brad Mondo (who is naturally blond) is him saying that he wanted to go darker, bc blond smh always requires a minimum of "maintenance" on and around the face (makeup, eyebrows, hairstyle, etc) otherwise you always lol unkept and sickly. That's one thing I noticed from when I was blonde (I'm naturally a brunette): without makeup, when I woke up I literally looked crazy (since my hair was EXTREMELY damaged too) and I always had to put on some makeup and style my hair to make my face look presentable. I've always thought that was a non-originally blond people thing, but when I heard Brad say the se thing I started to think: "... Huuuh??"
Thank you for your videos! They have helped me so much, I've been following you for years and years. I love how you're both classy and have such a likeable sense of humor and personality ❤️ Plus you're a great teacher, I trust your opinions. I'm a soft natural with neutral medium/dark brown hair (I'm deep winter I think) and while I like to experiment with different brunette toning conditioners sometimes, I have to be careful because even a slight change can throw off the rest of my coloring. Slightly too warm or slighlty too cool or slightly too dark. My hair gets natural highlights in the sun, but can wash me out if it gets too light. But getting a slight tan always helps with that. In the end my natural hair color brightens my complexion and looks nice against a black shirt, even though the color itself is a bit boring. Maybe because I'm in the natural family.
Hi Aly!! Thank you for going over hair colors! Can you also talk about more different ethnic looks too, please? Like latinas, East Asians, South Asians, etc.
As Aly said it's important to see the whole picture. I am a soft natural but I look awful with any type of highlights or anything lighter than my natural colour. I think I look my best with 1 single hair colour, dark brown to almost black. I am probably a dark winter or true winter, still haven't figured that out because I am quite in the middle of those two with my best colours.
I've discovered i look horrific with dark hair!!😮😂 ive got warm/ neutral skintone with blue gree cool eyes and my natural colour is light mousey brown. Blonde hsir looks so much better ❤
I am a soft classic with natural level 5 hair color and i know it's my natural color but blonde just look so much better on me, softer, i am pale with olive-greenish undertone, the darker hair always brings out those ashy tones in my skin, I have really tried so many times and feel guilty and like I dont accept my natural hair color, but then I dye it blonde on the neutral side(leaning cooler) and it instantly brings those pinkish undertones that I do also have and I look healthy imo.
Hey Aly, I've been watching your videos since your Big Eye Tutorial years ago! I was wondering I could email you pictures of my face and you tell me what face type/body type I have as its very confusing to me!
Please do a video on red/burgundy hair! I love love this hair but I wonder what the color theory behind it is. I’m a light summer I believe but I look so good imo in light burgundy hair! I’d love to see discussion on it. I know it’s not typical and it’s high maintenance but I want to know!!
Great video. I'd like to add that lighter hair doesn't always suite aging women. I am naturally medium to dark brown. I'm now middle aged with lots of gray hair. I'd love to go lighter to blend those in and avoid coloring my hair as often as I do now. BUT I look much younger with darker hair. Darker than my natural hair. I usually color it dark brown which turns near black on me and it looks fabulous on me. Anything lighter ages me significantly. I'd really like to find styling tips and tricks for aging women with my coloring but all I can find online is usually stuff that makes me look tired and old😕
I’m 38 years old, and have no clue what my natural hair color is. My mom has been putting lemon juice in my hair since I was a kid. I have no clue what it is. My eyebrows are gold? but I have blue/green veins. My eyes are brown? Hazel? No clue. 🤷🏼♀️ *sighs*
As a Soft Summer im very very muted BUT i have rosacea so my nose and cheeks look very red but the rest of me is very light grey . My hair is very ashy light blonde and i had some fun at a wig salon and nothing i mean NOTHING , no other color than my natural hair looks good on me . I guess I'll never color my hair
In an older video you said that you sometimes help people figure out what body type they are. I am having trouble. I think maybe Dramatic or Natural Flamboyant. Can you help me if I send you a picture? Is this a service you provide? I feel that I recently ruined my hair color. I would like to know what to direct my hair dresser to do to fix it. Sad😢
I’m a cool summer w medium brown hair and blue eyes, so medium contrast, but I am a flamboyant natural so bayalage should technically look good on me but I’m afraid I would need the contrast of my natural dark hair 🤔struggles 😜
I have quite dark brown hair on the more ashy side and my hair is starting to go gray. Well it's more like white hair strands than gray. I have to 2 streaks one at each temple that are basically completley white so they become visible very fast after coloring. I have thought about coloring them in a different color like a money piece to get the white hair to blend more but I don't want to look like I have tiger stripes. Help!
I usually prefer to stay within my natural range - all the way from the bright light blonde I had as a kid, down to the brunette I now got. I can also go a shade darker than I naturally am, but that's as far as I can go. I once wore my hair in a deep chocolate brown and people really liked it (like a level 3 color), but I think it was mainly the bronzy reflection of the color that was so flattering for me, because bronzy usually looks amazing on me. Plus I was way younger and that darker color brought out my features more that now just don't need that much enhancement anymore. A level 6 with chocolaty reflex is really flattering on me still. Level 5 also works great. But I find that the levels between 9 and 6 are less flattering on me (9 and 10 work amazingly, 6 and 5 as well, but the rest is just looking somewhat odd). I tried balayage and softly blended highlights several times and it just isn't for me, unfortunately, I really like the vibe and feel of it, but it doesn't look great on me. A shadow root in very light hair works perfectly though (as long as the blonde still looks clean and the colors don't blend together too much, that just looks muddy on me). All those things are also the reason why I find it hard to stick to my natural hair color. When it naturally lightens by the sun, I look somewhat weird. I need a rather uniform color. I find darker hair to even out my skintone more than a light blonde ever could, though. Whenever I color my hair darker, I tend to wear LESS make up instead of feeling like I need more. Especially foundation. I also find darker colors to bring out the warmth in my skin way more and accentuate my features. The only thing is: my eyebrow and lash hairs are not light at all, but they are very sparse (they've always been, it's not from plucking the brows too much or anything) and that makes me look rather "blonde" without make up, unless you look closely and actually see the color they REALLY have. If I just add brow mascara and mascara, even just in my natural shade, I already look very different. (And yes, I have thought about permanent make up and lash extensions and actually already got both, they are not for me, really.) I was friends with a guy at school who had a very rich level 4 natural hair color and his brows and lashes were as sparse as mine. He always looked like he had colored his hair a few shades too dark. I see that quite rarely in men though, I feel this is more common for women. On the other hand I had a classmate who was a natural level 9 and her brows and lashes were very dense and even appeared coarse and made her hair color appear unnatural. So that also exists. She never colored or lightened her hair and she still got that light hair and dark brows and lashes naturally in her late 30's now. I usually use brown or burgundy mascara (never black) and that makes a huge difference for me. If I don't fill in my brows I look just weird. I have a friend who is brunette and she has almost no brow hairs, never had. For her, permanent make up was the right solution. She also doesn't have much lashes to work with, not even mascara does a good job at enhancing them, but coloring her hair lighter just looks wrong on her. I've also met a young woman who had very dark hair that looked super ashy. Her coloring in general was insanely warm though (amber eyes, golden skin, no cool undertones at all, cool colors made her look grey or sick). She never really went out into the sun, so her hair had not been influenced by it at all. When adding warmth to her hair, she looked way more natural and healthy. So don't let yourself be confused if you have one of these or any similar problem. Sometimes all natural just doesn't look as natural as we might imagine. And if an artificial hair color refines your skin's appearance and beautifully enhances your features, it might just be the right color for you to wear, even if it isn't totally like your natural color.
Thank you for including women with gray hair. I'm looking forward to your video about this subject!

Wonderful video. I am partially blind and still enjoyed just listening to you. Your voice is lovely and I learned a lot.
Can you please make a video on hair parting?
This is a great idea!
Yes please!
I have blue eyes, very fair skin and black hair. I used to hate it but now I feel it's kinda nice and different

At this point I just need a private consultation from you for an entire makeover!! 😅 Love you. Thank you! ❤

Unrelated, but you look AMAZING in this video! 😍
I don't know any way to describe it other than saying you give off the vibe of silk or satin.
Thank you so much )))

Really interesting, dear Aly. Your own hair looks so lovely here.
It is the question of contrast between natural hair, brows, eyes and lips. If you are not highly contrasted you will benefit from being lighter.
Excellent break down! Thank you for discussing the brunette options so thoroughly!

Wow! I like the example with small pictures so much! It’s a really good way to show the difference in how dark and blond hair change face definition
Your hair length fits you so well!!!
Aly i saw a video of you with your natural color and chin length. I liked it so much that i got my hair cut like that, and I get compliments every day! Not sure about my natural color since i now have a big streak of white!
