I completely agree. The new sbd mini tempest is a perfect example since you can reverse flick the fuller. If I’m going single deployment method, studs or thumb hole are ideal for me
I love front flippers, they're probably my favorite deployment method. I like having them as a bolster lock too just so you don't have to worry about lock bar pressure locking you out and shredding your thumb. I'm OK with the front flipper being the only deployment method, but they've gotta work well and the jimping has to be grippy and go up and around the top. Front flippers combined with studs or a thumb hole are fun for extra fidget factor. Full size Sweeney and Kizer Militaw are a couple of my favorites. I need to get me a TBC...
That Trevor Burger urban is nice, been looking into getting one. Have the urban xl and it's amazing and think having a small one would be nice to add. His front flipper knives work so good and there so easy to reverse flick off the hollow.
I want a Trevor Berger urban sooooo badly. That and an esnyx workhorse in damasteel/micarta, mokuti. The workhorse looks like a beautiful front flipper for a great price
I have the Mach 3 and it is one of my favorite knives. It has an easy reach around and top flipper but no front flipping. The Superlativ Canibl and Lush have very similar designs and my favorite aesthetically. Paramour, Apache, and Raptor are great and mainstays in my collection. UrbanEDC LC is my favorite knife that I don't carry because of the clip. I'm going to have to bend it or file it down I guess. I don't understand how they can make such a great knife and miss so bad on the pocket clip. My honorable mention goes to the Kizer De L'Orme. I wanted the Baby Barlow but couldn't bring myself to pay that much for such a small knife. The De L'Orme was a third of the price, has a longer more useful blade for me, 20CV steel, and great fit and finish. Also, designed by the same maker. Great interesting vid!
Man, you've got all the knives i want! I picked up the After Hours jack, which i love, but i cant deny jimping is a little aggressive. Looking into picking up that mini sweeney, but i think ive purchased 4 knives this month. Maybe i should take a break...nah!
Great video! Front flippers are my jam. Three other worth options are the Ekko, Militaw and the upcoming Kunwu S-TAO II. I have an S-TAO on the way and can't wait to get it! Will there be another Lush drop?
the Lush is probably my favorite knife out of my collection period, for the reasons you've pointed out. it's just so fidgety, being able to front flip 3 different ways. useful blade shape, low profile. missed out on the sweeney, gonna have to check out that esnyx.
Wish I scooped one of the mini sweeneys(sweeni?), it would’ve been a sick addition, especially since some how I got lucky and found out only once I received the damasteel Sweeney I bought from berg blades, that I got the #1, which I’m so thankful for. That was a cool surprise, to say the least
Doing a reach around flip on the Buzz is epic (call that move the buzzcut). And as long as we're talking Divo, Colin's Kubey Royal in titanium offers the best front flipping action imo.
I like all the styles, as long as they work well. One of the most important factors for front flippers is the type of jimping they use. It has to grab the skin just right, without being too slippery or too aggressive. I know Kev disagrees, but he's wrong 😀--Reate and Pena set the bar for front flipper jimping. Reate did a similar jimping for Berg Blades on the Sweeney and Barber button lock, and it's superb. As much as I love Laconico's designs, his front flipper jimping is too wide and too smooth. Same goes for EMP and Vero. Which is not to say that their front flippers don't work, but they would be so much better with different jimping. Divo did well staking out the middle ground with the Lush and Buzz.
I can't believe I'm saying this. Kev, being into slip joints, you have to check out the CRKT Steigerwalt. I know I know. Hand rubbed satin M390 spear point blade carbon fiber ti liners with the traditional metal back spring but it's not full length. Really I implore you. Again CRKT Steigerwalt. They have some really cool premium knives coming out. Some even USA made. Even if style isn't quite yours TRULY impressive that they can do this. Had no idea. FR Check it out and I'll wait 🤣
I lurrve frontflippers and I think it's because of this channel 😅The most fidgety is a crested type not shown, just like the Buzz but higher like on an Artisan Boa (Triple Stripe design) or Olamic Whippersnapper (best frontflipper I've ever). You can super easily pop it using every grip. Second best is the low-profile "South African" type like on the Burger. The type on the Mini Tempest is too high and pointed, and the Paramour is slightly too low-profile. They all cool though!
I’ve been front flipping my mash lol. Wish I could do the roll back but I get it’s not made for that. The kizer hiccup has the best front flipper design imo. Next would be the buzz.

I like front flippers but not when its the ONLY way to open a knife
I completely agree. The new sbd mini tempest is a perfect example since you can reverse flick the fuller. If I’m going single deployment method, studs or thumb hole are ideal for me
I agree as well. I like the main deployment option to be hole in the blade and then front flipper to be secondary

front flippers is my kind of video. Wish more of these had lanny holes for my beads
Weirdest one I own is the We Cybernetic. So weird, you gotta love it.
Front flipper knives are my fav! I need a Paramour...

Love me a good ole reach around 😅

"Grip it and rip it on a reach around..." Classic Saturday night am i right!?! 😂

Yo Kev, when is the second drop gonna be for them mini sweeneys? Love your vids bro appreciate you man!!! Look forward to your drop on 3/4 @ Noon EST
Im not sure but ill let ppl know before it happens
My man thanks brotha!

I never had any front flippers until early last year, i now have 8 🤣
Front flippers are fun.
I’ve been front flipping my mash lol. Wish I could do the roll back but I get it’s not made for that. The kizer hiccup has the best front flipper design imo. Next would be the buzz.
U can front flip a mash?
@@LeftyEDC yup
@@edc4funthats wild. Ive tried
@@LeftyEDC it does take a little wrist to do consistently
Not a huge front flipper fan.. I’ve got a Microtech Anax but usually use the fuller since the front flipper might as well be a cheese grater
Not really in the same class but the Shamwari has the best front flipper design with the small tacky jimping
I had a custom and prefer burgers style but it is good. Just requires a softer detent
I want to find an American made front flipper. Currently the only knife i can front flip is my rosie
Lets go D$!
my hand is too small for front flippers only
Where’s the Baby Barlow?
Sold it. But is fantastic
Lots of reach around going on 😏
