- Asajj Ventress died in the novel Dark Disciple after falling in love with Quinlan Voss and succumbing to Count Dooku's wrath.
However, she was placed in the fountain on Dathomir...could this be how she survived?

The author hinted at her returning to life at the end of the book.
“Together, the two Jedi lay the Nightsister to rest in a dark pool near the abandoned Nightsisters' village. As Ventress's body enters the waters, the pool turns green, and the voices of the spirits of the deceased Nightsisters are heard, welcoming Ventress back”
Ahhhh, yes, I see.
Somehow Ventress returned.
I was looking for this comment.
NO ONES EVER REALLY GONE
Now THATS good writing 😂😂😂😂
Yep, can’t make good new characters so why not ruin the old ones.
I'm looking forward to the day Mace Windu returns and we have to have this conversation all over again. Some characters are cool enough to somehow return, as long as they do it right. I think they didn't think twice about bringing Ventress back only bc it happened in a book so admittedly, it might be harder to do Windu but hey...we never saw a body!
I don’t understand how Star Wars doesn’t realize you can kill off a good character but go back and explore the past to tell new stories with them. Bringing people back from the dead is so lame, and reinforces that there are no real stakes in Star Wars.
Mace windu didn't die....
They’re just bringing back anyone they feel like now. Death isn’t permanent or matter anymore. They might as well bring back Luke Skywalker, Ben/Kylo, Obi Wan, and anyone else who died. Or heck, even Anakin.
@@Kayoss13212why not it’s not real anyway, besides if you can become a force ghost then technically they aren’t fully dead why not bring them back
@@zombiejelly4111 yes lets bring everyone back. You get a resurrection, you get a resurrection, everybody gets a resurrection!!!!
@@captainDJ87 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Good heavens...NO!
Ventress is one of the most tragic and compelling characters ever made in Star Wars
She’s my second favorite female character next to Rey
@@DarthTempestas nice joke lol
@@macwelch8599 I’m not joking, I love Rey.
@@DarthTempestas that sucks
@@DarthTempestas What about Rose Tico? 😂
If her body was left behind and voss escaped it would make sense to me that dukoo would try and salvage something to try and do something crazy
Mother Talzin Returned a few times maybe it has to do with how powerful your Witchy powers are hence why the majority of night sisters haven't just respawned
"We can't write new characters despite George giving us all the continuity we'd need, so now we're resurrecting characters because we suck".
this is a Feloni character. im sure he is pulling his characters because he likes them. XD
@MaraJadeSkywalker. oh that's cool to know ! Thank you!
I hope they do a live movies of Asajj. She deserves it...1❤
Agree
I'm glad we get her back. Ending her story in a book, no matter how cool...is kinda lame. Imagine ending Maul's story in a book...or Ahsoka...or...whatever, you get it. It's nice to have an ending to a story in animation...and maybe one day we'll get a glimpse of her in live action!
I also think, while her sacrifice to save Quinlan was beautiful, at the hands of Dooku's force lightning (which she has been struck with multiple times throughout the show) is kinda lame.
I hope we see her in the new Rey movie, she’d be badass if she was fighting alongside Rey
@@DarthTempestas Rather see her kill Rey and be the lead of the movie.
EXACTLY! People need to stop whining and just be happy that She's Back.
Only thing I don’t like about the multiple lives idea is it kinda makes her sacrifice less meaningful, but maybe she didn’t know she would come back? Who knows. Very open ended. If they de-canonize the dark disciple tho, do you guys think there’s hope to do it to the sequels?
I've been bingeing your videos since last week, I love your content! Your narration of this story was beautiflly said! Dark Disciple is a great book. Glad Ventress is back!
I personally couldn't be happier that Asajj is back. She was one of my favorite characters growing up, and she is so much more complex than most other Star Wars characters in that she's not purely good or evil. She's been every which way in between and it makes her so much more deeper and interesting. I for one was actually not a big fan of when they killed her off, because I felt like she would have so much more to offer to the story. Plus she's such a badass.
I might have a theory on how Ventress returns from the dead, In the end of Dark Disciple book, Obi-Wan and Quinlan Vos brought Ventress' body to the destructive Nightsister Cave Village, and when they put her body in the dark waters that would eventually turn green as that planet had finally acquired one of the lost Nightsister, and probably after when Obi-Wan and Quinlan had left, Ventress would come out from the magic green water, revived!!! As if they were like the Lazerus pit from the Batman series!!!
Darth Sidious - “I have died before “
Asaaj Ventress - “So what? So have I”
😃😃😃😃
But my girl Rey finally got him in the end!
@@DarthTempestas lol naw rey is sidious didnt you watch or listen to him in the movie hes just getting ready to build his new empire
I loved Dark Disciple. It’s one of my favorite books. And Asaj is definitely one of my favorite characters. Being that she is a night sister there can be a good story as to how she’s back. It would be cool if Voss found a way to use night sister magic after being unable to cope with her death. So long as they remain faithful to the novel, I’m here for seeing what story they tell. Hopefully it’s a good one.
Bruh how many times do you we have to see characters come back from the dead
Bringing this channel back to its roots, brings a tear to my eyes. I LOVED this video man!
your retelling of her story (man, you have a powerful gift ... and I think I'm not the first one who noticed that!) makes me want to rewatch all the clone wars episodes she's in, because she's one of my all time star wars favs. Put that aside, I kinda see her return ambigiously, because It really belittles her epic death in Dark Deciples. It was one of those endings I didn't want to rewrite. Imagine my surprise when I found out that somebody else had done it !
Taking my lunch after having to delay it for 4 hours, thanks for the vid to watch. Makes my day jus a little better
I'm willing to bet it was some Dathomir witchery that brought her back. I mean, it rearranged matter to create new legs for Darth Maul, physically enhanced Savage, and resurrection spells aren't too far out there when dealing with Dathomir magic, (zombie army during the Clone Wars and Mother Talzin temporarily coming back after being slain by Windu).
Adam Ventress by far is one of my favorite characters. I was sad to see her go, (though her death was incredibly poetic ). I’m glad the brought her back. Maybe she will redeem herself even more and train Omega.
It was touching seeing ventress connect with that giant creature instead of killing it something her old self likely would have done, shows how far she's come after all this time.
1:20 Rey Skywalker Also Has That Ability, Remember? When She Touched Anakin’s Lightsaber, She SAW Everything It’s Wielders Had Been Through, She Literally Saw The First Time Luke Fought Vader In Empire Strikes Back
She is a true Star Wars Legend. Ahsoka is the last of the Legends.
Kinda overused. Instead of her being alive we should be seeing stuff with Luke, Leia and Han
Hey Theory! Great video as always, i couldn't help but realise you have a great voice for narration and i know you do voices very well. My question is have you done any Audiobook Narrations or would you be interested in doing so? If you couldn't land a new novel casting for say audible, could you even just narrate an existing book and post it to youtube? idk if theres a copyright issue somewhere there or not...anyway love you bye
Ventress’s been through a lot since the clone wars and the end of it, she came a long way.
I’m happy she appeared in the latest episode with her long haired look.
I would say Quinlan and Asajj Ventress should definitely be covered in Tales of the Jedi
Disney SW: death? That tickles. It totally undermines her sacrifice.
So, basically, Dark Disciple, is just a copy of Quinlan Vos' arc on Republic's and Jedi: Count Dooku's comics, from the old Expanded Universe (aka Legends)... I mean, Quinlan Vos being send by the Jedi on a mission to infiltrate the Separatists' side, undercoverd as one of Count Dooku's apprendices, falling in love with a woman who works to both the Jedi and Dooku, eventually indeed falling to the darkside and is redeemed by a Jedi woman in the end... Basically the same story, but with the diference that the Legends' one version was better done, and demmanded several comic issues to be developed, creating a more realistically arc to the character.
One example is:
When Dooku push Quinlan Vos to the edgy of the dark side, making him confronts his aunt (Tinté Vos) about his parent's death by the hand of the Anzati. What made Vos to unlock the ability to read people through the Force, as objects. This revealed that she was the responsible for his parents' assassination, what makes Quinlan Vos to fall completlly to dark side, and to kill his aunt, becoming Dooku's new dark acolyte. (Jedi: Count Dooku)
Another important example:
The Jedi on Legends, contrary to their counterparts from the new canon, do not wanted Dooku's death, because Mace Windu already realized that his death, in this late moment, will not change the course of the war. Mace Windu had the ability to read shatterpoints through the Force, that is certain moments that, if changed, changes the entirely future. And Dooku's possibly death on Geonosis and Mace's death, by the hands of Jango Fett, would surely stop the eventual war to ever happening. That opportunity was already lost, making them just want to Quinlan Vos to infiltrate and sabotage the Sith.
Her body was literally put in a pool om Dathomere and the waters turned green hinting towards resurrection. How come people keep ignoring that...
That's what I've been f*cking saying.
Death, continuity, turning to and away from the Dark Side... none of it has meaning anymore. It's all just "a good question for another time".
Always was a big comic Ventress fan, she got so watered down in canon
Like most stuff in new canon
In the Dark Disciple it was never stated that she died…The facts are that Obi-Wan and Voss stand by there lifeless body in the sea and as they are walking away the sea spills green colour. The end. That are the facts.
No narration about her death nor living at that moment.
Yeah and that would be fine if this wasn’t a tired trope in SW now. Between people coming back or simply not dying from fatal wounds what does it really matter what happens to a character. Hell, now we have time travel added in. No real story when it can all be taken back by bad writing.
@@kurtmccathron3781This.
No death in Disney Star Wars is sacred... Except for Qui Gon Jin, apparently.
I'm reading all legends and cannon adult and young adult novels in chronological order, I just got through this book recently and it is by far my favorite cannon novel so far.
Asaj ventress is amazing lady assassin of the sith.
I still think Dark Rey would be more frightening
@@DarthTempestas 100% rey is sidious other wise the sequels terrible ending would be even worse than it already is hes play 5d chess bro yall just down see it
@@I3rime That’s actually a interesting theory. If Theory still covered the sequels that would make a great video.
@@DarthTempestas fr but i doubt Disney would do that though sadly it just makes to much sense its like the theory i have for game of thrones that the three eyed raven is the bad guy manipulating everything it would just make all the weird shit make sense
For me if she’s alive due to her actually having multiple lives I like it. Because it’s not like she just survived, it actually makes sense and is very cool.
Wow this drew me in so much. I would love to see an animated adaptation of this story...live action if done properly would be awesome to see. I can see Jason Momoa as Quinlan Vos
Tales of the Empire: Somehow Barriss Offee returned.
I hate to disagree with you Theory.... but Asajj wasn't even close to being a sith. And Darth Maul is named Darth because he was appointed a Sith by Sidious... right?
I 100% feel like they failed with Grogu, in pulling him from the Mandalorian, so they said, well why not do the same thing with Bad Batch and have 1 split off and train to be a jedi...
Great Video! Personally, As someone who's never read Dark Disciple, I'm glad She's Back. I know that She had a very Meaningful Death, But I think that they brought Her back in a way that stays true to the Book and brings back an Awesome Character that We All Love.
I love Asajj and loved to see her gain. But retconning her death must be explained well.
We do have Talon keft as well, it says that George might have planned to use her in his sequels.
Maybe Favreau can do her justice
This is literally fire
There's a possiblity for Dave Feloni to direct an animated adaptation of Dark Disciple.
Rather we get something new tbh
Count Dooku: *exists*
Ventress: If you strike me down, I shall be become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
Nightsister Pool aka Lazarus Pit: *panics*
I think when Ventress originally went back to Mother in CW and her mom healed her I believe she may have also put a spell on/in her that would protect her shoulder she be killed 1 time by dooku who would do so in a duel and would heal her but at the same time out her in a coma so she could recover for a period of time which she did and that’s how she came back
definitely a retcon that needs explained.
but this is kind of an okay retcon because ventress is awesome.
I totally agree. One of my fav characters.
Hey Theory I'm 5 trophies away from a platinum trophy for Jedi Survivor hope to see you stream some more of it
I loved what they’ve done with Ahsoka, she’s my favorite character. I am glad that ventures is back because I’ve been following her since the 2D clone wars!! And as for Sabine, I mean I don’t have a super big issue with her force powers do think they could’ve slowly developed the powers instead of just off rip
I honestly don't care how she came back I'm just glad she's back! Ventress is one of the best Star Wars characters ever!
0:30 nah no, ain't no spying the council wanted Quinlan to assassinate Dooku because of how ruthless and cruel he was getting throughout the war
I mean, she is a night sister, and she discorporated, so, if anyone returned from death, she’d be high in the list anyway. If we want to get upset about anybody dying and coming back that makes no sense, Maul would top that list years and years ago. But he did, and great story was made from it, so, both of those deaths can be chocked up to inexplicable magic forces, I’m willing to roll with it!!
So someone sacrificed themself to bring another to the light. Then that person resurrected, good stuff 👍
Great video , Theory. This was an excellent in-depth potrayal Ventress. She's one of the greatest character in the Star Wars Universe. I liked the Bad Batch so far, but this move with Ventress is a..... not good.
The dark disciple the book reveal that ventress was put to rest in a mountain that have a pool of water that could revive a death person I don’t know if tales of the sith explore ventres revival
I'm excited to see Ventress again!!! She one of my favorites, who I feel is unrated.m😁💖
can you learn vaapad by psychometry if you finds mace windu's lightsaber or body or severed hand?
Lucasfilm actually said a while ago that we are going to see how she got to the bad batch in an upcoming way that was not demonstrated in this episode.
It’s a common joke that cats have Nine Lives so I would think it’s just a throw away line in reference to that
I feel like they could do a lot with merrin depending on how the jedi series ends
THEORY You should add Ventress's light Sabers to your collection and for your saber store.
Time will tell to see how they explain this but the show runner Jennifer Corbet has said they do have a plan to tell her story in accordance to dark disciple
I hope it ties in to the sequels some how, I’d love to see Ventress and Rey together
So the Daughter transformed into Ashoka and travelled through time and she saved Ventress in the past and brought her to save the Bad Batch with the power of all the colours of the Night Sister magic rainbow, specifically the blue and pink magic
Very convenient, very convenient….
So good, this feels like classic SWT
This is beautiful story. This is beautiful.I'm glad she's back😊I think her sisters resurrected her.Asajj is really cool. It doesn't ruin everything. Looking forward seeing her more😀Have a great day too😀It's 7 am here. May the Force be with you too, always😀
I think it would be pretty cool to see Ventress train Omega in a distant future series after clone force 99 meets its glorious end. Yea it breaks canon but I’m sure they could make something up like they always do unfortunately. “Somehow Ventress returned” oh well why not at this point.
definitely undermines, but… in the same way we want Mace back i am so happy to see her. loved her character and it brings the force into the BB. plus if anyone was supposed to be dead it was Maul and every SW lover i know is happy he returned. Plus i love a good redemption arc and even though Ventress already had one, expanding on it is far more interesting than Rey, Reva or Sabine. I Love Ahsoka… and these two have history. what a great reunion that would be if we get it
I'm fine with her returning but, yes, I would like an explanation that keeps Dark Disciple cannon.
I’m guessing there will eventually be an animated dark disciple animation that Lucasfilm will make somewhere some way that would be changed to an Empire setting rather than separatist. And instead of Dooku, it will be Vader.
I miss star grift. it introduced me to your channel. I'm trying out the breakdown video and I think I like this content.
Maybe when merrin revived all of the nightsisters ventress got revived as well and healed over time due to her being alive or healed herself
On the timeline, did all this happen after Dookus tried to kill Ventress and the Savage Oppress stuff? Ior he met her while she was Dookus apprentice and their relationship grew over time. I'm trying to place it where it goes before revenge of the Sith. During what season of Clone Wars would this all fall?
I hope we get to see Quinlan next.
Asajj Feline: I still have 8 more lives.
Asaj’s outfit in the Bad Batch is very similar to Quinlan’s, I hope that she in the end of Bad Batch gets to take Omega as her apprentice and we get a spin off show about it. Maybe they find Quinlan still alive.
Has no one stopped to think maybe they are just finally showing her dark disciple arc? Maybe omega is on the way to her meeting quinlin and that her story might show the dooku battle? At this time maybe her death hasn’t happened yet.
This is post clone wars so dooku is already dead
I wouldn’t mind so much if they delved into post clone wars assajj and since she is a nightsister who is big on resurrection I have qualm with how she is brought back. And like theory mentioned about beefing up the available force sensitive females. Really excited for the upcoming episodes
I know in the book it seems like she dies but they did kind of give themselves some wiggle room no? She was brought back to Dathomire and put into the pool of life the water of life then started to glow green once she was put inside. It is said that the water of life could be used to resurrect the recently slain. So its technically not a retcon id say now that she's back.
Yet people are oblivious to that fact on where she was buried
I loved the book Dark Disciple, and her death was so beautiful! But I am glad to see her back.
The other Ventress in the book was a clone. This one is the real Ventress. Yeah I’m reaching, just trying to make some sense out of it. I’m glad she’s back. She’s a badass like you said. Thanks for the video.
I'm curious about where Filoni's The clone wars cartoon left ventress, as the novel will likely be mostly ignored
Would have been cool to have actually seen it....
I love Ventress returning my thing is is the book Canon, if not this makes total sense, but if is canon the fact that she faded away insteady pf laying dead on the ground leads me to believe it was some Night sister Magic
What if Mother Talzin didn’t abandon her after all and brought her back from the dead?
I always feels like if it’s not on screen, then it’s not canon
"It absolutely makes no sense of course..." Thats pretty much it. Just Disney diminishing the significance of death. No theory, its not cool. Oh we got this character that we use to have that was well written but are bringing her back since we can't think or create a character that people would enjoy...
Is this not like the second time she come back? Was she not supose to die way back in the clone war in a comic and Feloni decided to disregard this to keep using her in the clone war? My memory might be wrong tho...
Bad Batch writers: Wait what book?
Somehow every Star Wars characters returned
If Reva can't die I'm ok with Ventress staying alive
No one can die in SW anymore. Because they cannot create good original characters so they gotta keep shoving the old ones back in there by any means necessary
@kurtmccathron3781 Exactly. They want to push new characters. Fine, but they never give the audience time. It's always new character extremely powerful with no progression.
if they put Asajj Ventress in live action, who do you think would play her?
Now she is back
When it comes to characters male or female, you don’t need a lot, just a few really good ones.
According to the Sith Lords of Korriban Sidious and all Bainites are pretending to be Sith. I think it's their custom to call each other fake.
I didn’t know Asajj Ventress died, and isn’t she the last receptacle for the souls of the Dathomir Sisterhood?
Ventress is *not* as much of a Sith as Maul is. Maul was an official Sith. He was the Apprentice of Palpatine, the only remaining Sith Master, at the time. Same as Dooku. Ventress, along with Grevious, were just Acolytes trained by Dooku. They were never officially Sith, any more than the Inquisitors, who were Acolytes of Vader, were actual Sith.
Give ventress her own show
That is why she is also my favorite female character in Star Wars.....🔥
Well we know she sourced her saber from Dathomier.
But where are your lightsabers from. Why won’t anyone answer this.
somehow omega will get trained by my fav jedi, quinlan vos
I have dreamed of getting to see one of my all-time favourite characters - Ventress - in Clone Wars animation again for literally YEARS, since we last saw her talking to Anakin about Barriss. I always knew she died a very poetic death in Dark Disciple, but that didn’t stop me from hoping I’d get to see her voiced by Nika Futterman once again on TV. I am beyond thrilled she is still alive, seeing her again is literally a dream come true for me. Honestly made me so excited, I really can’t put it into words. I cannot wait to see more of her.
