    Great video! It took me about a year to complete the NCA exams (full time job and available exam dates etc.), happy this is done! Just to mention in Ontario, you can take the bar exams before articling/the LPP program, which is great if you want to finish this part before articles. Also if you have at least 10 months common law practice experience you can apply for an exemption from articles! 😊😊

    Hi Sukhmani ji, This is Raju Panjala I am inspired by your dedication to the law field. I am a law graduate back in India enrolled in the Bar Council and Cleared my AIBE exam. Currently Pursuing an MBA in Vancouver and looking to start my NCA application. My question is -do we have to clear each of those 5 courses with NCA? in order to get the certificate of qualification. OR " what if we enroll these courses in law school and get the credits !! shall we skip the NCA exam? " seeking your guidance.. Thank you

      If you take the credit courses with UBC, you will not have to take the NCA exams. But again, it depends on your assessment and you have to discuss with the NCA officials.

      You can access the sample exams on their website. They never release old exam papers. In fact, even discussion on question paper with anyone is strictly prohibited. When you open a subject’s syllabus, there is a link with each topic. That becomes your course material, if you plan to do it yourself.

    1. Do you need to pay 550 cad for each attempt if you fail or do you just pay once?

    I'm a law student in india pursuing LLB and currently in my 1st year and I wanted to work in Canada after my graduation so about NCA if I'm in my final year then can I still fill the NCA form or I can only fill it once i have done my LLB course ?
    Also what if you passed one exam and didn't give other exams then still they give you the NCA certificate or after passing all the exams you can work in Canada as articleship

    • @sukhmanikahlon
      @sukhmanikahlon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Disha!
      You need to send all your transcripts for the assessment. So, you can start preparing for the exams in your final year but you’ll have to wait till your degree is done and result it out.
      You get your Certificate of Qualification only after completing all the requirements.
      Hope this helps ☺️
      Please note that clearing NCA will not help with your immigration process. NCA is for those foreign lawyers who are either from Canada, studying in Canada or immigrating to Canada as a PR.

      Hi! Please note that NCA and immigration are not connected in any way. If you google NCA law exams Canada, it’s the first website and you’ll find everything there.
      As for scope, there is scope but it is major struggle for the first 3-4 years, depending on the province you move to. If you’re well settled in your profession in India, I would not say it’s worth it given the current situation in the country.

    @kinxaturk8518 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, highly informative
    I have a question, Does taking exams from the parent country and qualifying them help in the immigration process as well? and what about articleship? do firms in Canada hire/offer foreign NCA-qualified lawyers for articleship if they have not immigrated to Canada? in short how to secure articleship ?

    • @sukhmanikahlon
      @sukhmanikahlon  ปีที่แล้ว

      NCA has no connection with the immigration process. For Articleship, you have to be in Canada. Generally, people work as Legal Assistants while taking the NCA exams and sometimes those employers convert your job into Articleship later. Sometimes, that’s not possible. In that case, you have to apply and try your best to secure something. Networking is key.

    Hey Sukhmani. Thank you for this informative video. This was very insightful. I am a lawyer from India and I have cleared the bar exam as well. I wanted to know if after clearing the NCA exams, do we have to take article training after coming to Canada on PR? My query might come across as weird, but I would really appreciate if you could clear my doubt. :) Subscribed to you because you are giving informative guidance to foreign lawyers intending to come to Canada.

    • @sukhmanikahlon
      @sukhmanikahlon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for subscribing :)
      You have to be in Canada for the Articles. Be it on PR or Work Permit (if you’re coming via the Student Visa route). But a word of caution, generally employers prefer to see your work as a Legal Assistant and then convert into an Article position. People here prefer to hire those who have some kind of Canadian work experience. This is why, I’d say coming to Canada as a PR gives you the strongest possible footing. Hope this helped!

    Whats the route once you complete your full time 1 year LLM (CL) from UBC on a study visa? Once you get the work permit then you can start your Articling (will the articling be paid) and if youre exempt from Articling then you can start as a Legal Assistant/Clerk/Paralegal?

    • @sukhmanikahlon
      @sukhmanikahlon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Articling is a paid position.
      BC has stricter rules and generally you might get a few months cut off but most of the people do have to Article.
      If you’re fully exempt, you still have to take the PLTC and the Bar exams

    Thank you for the detailed information regarding this field. There is very less information available for lawyers who are trying to migrate to Canada. I'm a lawyer from India, and there has always been a lot of confusion about the PR and accreditation process. It would be great if you can also mention what is the maximum time limit allowed within which one needs to give all the NCA exams? Is it 5 years?
    Also, for PR application, what NOC code do Indian lawyers apply with? since India does not have paralegal / legal admin assistant job type, if I'm a lawyer in India, can we apply for PR as paralegals if our job experience description does not fall under Lawyers & Quebec notaries NOC code? This is the most confusing part for me a lawyer who is trying to migrate to Canada.

      Bar exam has to be given. It has 2 components- solicitor exam and barrister exam. That’s why even if you want a corporate lifestyle, Bar exam is a must.
      Secondly, I know it sounds a little complicated but it’s not that hard a process.
      Either do LLM in Common Law from UBC or York, OR take the NCA exams. Either way you have to apply for the assessment. NCA application is very straightforward. Start filling and comment here if you have any questions.

Also could you please mention a few postal services which deliver documents quickly in Canada?

      1) ask your college to send the transcripts to the NCA office in Ottawa. You need to pay for your assessment. After the assessment form has been submitted, you will get a registration number from NCA. You give that registration number to your university. They will mention that registration number when they send your transcript to Ottawa. That’s how NCA will know it’s your application and transcript.
      2) 550 CAD plus tax is for every attempt.
      3) WES has no role to play in the NCA process.

      Hi Abhiraj. The purpose of these videos is not to find a way to move to Canada. I talk about how to get licensed IF you are working on moving to Canada. Many people go as PRs on express entry, some are sponsored by their spouses, some go on student visa - be it for MBA, LLM or Paralegal Diploma. Some people take internal transfers to their company’s Canadian offices (for eg. EY, PWC). In such scenarios where one has figured out a way to move/is already in Canada and wants to convert their Indian law degree and work as a lawyer in Canada…that’s when NCA comes into play.
