Hello, long time viewer here :) just wanted to ask if you guys are going to react to X Men 97? This is the best thing that Marvel has ever done after IW and Endgame
Titanic Experience in Pensacola! Have you heard about the "Night of the Titanic" Planetarium show @ PSC, June 7, 2024???? Just found out about it & instantly thought of you guys.😇😇
One thing I really appreciate about your channel; is that i actually trust that you and/or Jen are watching things for the 1st time when you say it. Integrity isn’t an easy thing to find with reaction channels nowadays. Thanks!
I love how people get mad because they have potentially seen a movie. I am here for the reaction and commentary, who cares if they have seen in or not. Keep putting up movies and I will keep watching them no matter what.
I love that the second Ghidorah is resurrected as Mechagodzilla, he immediately tries to get revenge on Godzilla for killing him. You can also tell that Godzilla was toying with Kong during the first half of the final fight, as Godzilla is a sadist in most adaptations. The second Kong hits him with the axe, Godzilla immediately takes him down
I love how Kong looks in the air ship thing at 23:44 to check and see if his friends (the little girl and the woman) are in it and when he sees they aren't... well... we know what happens lmao
Mechagodzilla, like Ghidorah is a classic villain from Godzilla's earlier incarnations. What I enjoy about this one is that it's a composite of all the previous versions of Mechagodzilla. In the Godzilla Showa Era (1954-1975), Mechagodzilla was introduced as an alien weapon created to conquer Earth. In the Heisei era (1984, 1989-1995), Mechagodzilla was built by the Japanese military from the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah. In the Millennium series (1999-2004), Mechagodzilla or Kiryu was also man made, but it's structure is built around the bones of the original Godzilla which would later become sentient and take control of the mech. I really enjoy that this Mechagodzilla is clearly human engineered, uses the skeletal structure of another monster to some extent, and has a malice intent towards humanity because there's an alien intelligence piloting it. Also I love the little detail when Mechagodzilla powers up with the Hollow Earth energy, that you can hear Ghidorah's roar and it sounds almost digitized.
I gotta say, 26:11 is my favorite part of the movie. Godzilla gets so pissed off he goes back to all fours. It really gives him that "ancestor of crocodilians" vibe.
Been waiting for this reaction this movie was sick. They have been building up to this fight since Skull island as well as every Kaiju fan been wanting a rematch between these two since way back. This movie delivered on the fights, gave us a definitive winner and then team up against a classic villain.
So, you are correct in thinking that Ren is Dr. Serizawa's son. He was going to hate his dad for giving so much of his attention to Godzilla and the titans. The film went through something like a 70-90% rewrite before release, initially being much more of a direct sequel to King of the Monsters. There is a screenshot from a deleted scene out there where Ren and Dr Nathan actually have a conversation in a bar. We can only assume they went more in-depth on Ren's estranged relationship with his dad in the previous version of the film.
That would’ve made more sense. A son jealous of his father being soo obsessed with Godzilla that it lead to his death. Jealousy fueling his anger to defeat Godzilla
The novelization fleshes out Ren Serizawa and his motivations significantly and gives him an even gnarlier death then what the movie showed. (In general, the novelizations and tie-in comics are really good if you want more insight into the characters and connective tissue between the movies.)
I was really glad that none of that was explored. All of that retroactively ruins Serizawas entire character and makes him out to be a selfish asshole who cared more about monsters than his own family.
Just gotta point out how smart Kong is. When the ship of the greedy people were shooting him in hollow earth, he had the smart two look inside to make sure nobody friendly was in there.
What I love about the intro to this movie is that is just looks like its a pov from Ghidora in mechagodzilla, anaylising his opponets and that it looks like a tourment bracet. Also when mechagodzilla gets possessed by Kevin and then he turns towards Godzilla and does that evil automic laugh. PURE PERFECTION! JUST LOVED IT WHEN I FIRST HEARED IT IN CINEMA.
27:41 it’s the Ghidorah dna that Godzilla is reading and going after. The hollow earth energy seems to have given Ghidorah strength to control mechagodzilla. 29:08 he learned from Martin Riggs on how to set a dislocated shoulder.
3:55 Godzilla has been explained several times in the franchise to be a constantly evolving creature. Which is why his design and body keeps changing and getting more powerful. Too many people don't understand that and use the excuse of "creator bias" to make Godzilla the mvp..even though the creators of this and the newest movie made the story more centered around *Kong* as a character. THe arguments annoy the crap out of me, both are great monsters.
To be fair, those comments and arguments are made by upset and angry Kong stans who mind you were trolling the G-Community so hard prior to the release of this movie, that when they saw that Kong lost they collectively lost their minds and to this day, still carry on arguing with everyone. The whole "creator bias" argument is still being made despite having both movies featuring Kong as the main focus as you've stated. It's gotten to the point where those same people want Godzilla completely replaced by Kong entirely 😕
Ren Serizawa is indeed the son of Ishiro Serizawa from the previous films. I haven’t read it yet, but I know the novelization explains he’s anti Godzilla because he had issues with his dad who was so devoted to Godzilla and he went over the edge with Ishiro’s sacrifice for Godzilla leaving them unable to reconcile. So “Godzilla stole my dad” basically They definitey should’ve had that in the movie
Ever consider that marine animals can change their own buoyancy, um, like fish, and whales, and giant invented monsters? Smarter than thou know it alls who watch monster movies and parse about "realism"..geezus...fucking insufferable....
It’s said in the novelization of GxK that Godzilla was weakened by Kong during the fight with Mechagodzilla and if Godzilla hadn’t fought Kong before, the fight would’ve gone much differently
If i recall correctly, the director has stated that Godzilla use 50% of his energy to make the hole to hollow earth. That explains why he lose the beam struggle againts Mechagodzilla
@@coltonpiper6156no kidding! If you’re paying attention to the beam struggle between Godzilla and mecha Godzilla Just before Godzilla’s atomic breath makes contact You can see it doesn’t act like it beam. Because he used it so much and his fight against Kong and the drill below
I didn't even need the novelization to conclude that. A friend of mine who's delusional as hell saying Kong actually won even though the MOVIE said it was 2-1(via "round 2 goes to Kong" then GZ tko him making it 2 rd to 1) But I explained that Godzilla was on the move literally the whole film! He attacked the 1st Apex facility, swam and gave Kong the 1st fade, swam away and while Kong gets a good bit of rest during this time, they do another test which makes GZ change directions amd swim all the way to Hong Kong, blows a hole all the way to hollow earth, immediately runs 2 more fades vs Kong then immediately takes on Mecha! Dude didn't have a single break you can't convince me he was at full strength after the tunnel excavation or 2nd Kong fight. He played all 48min of a basketball game running up and down the court WHILE dropping 50pts and playing lockdown Defense.
Which is made even funnier when you realize that the part of Ghidorah used was the head Godzilla ripped off in their underwater fight in KoM. In other words, this movie was secretly Godzilla vs Kong: The Revenge of Kevin. 😂
Love that y'all watched this series. For Godzilla floating. Being a giant fictional creature, and aquatic. He could have a modified swim bladder like some aquatic animals do. That in combination with how huge his lungs are would also add to his buoyancy to float or sink when he needs to. Without (much) paddling or treading, kinda like an alligator. But Godzilla being fictional his swim bladder and lungs could allow him to somewhat "stand" upright in the water Ren serizawa also hates Godzilla because his dad ignoring him and following the Kaiju most of ren's childhood. Choosing Godzilla over his son
Also it's implied in the novel that Serizewa did not die, but when Ghidorah took over Mechagodzilla, his mind and consciousness fused with Serizewa. It's actually a creepy description as it describes Ren being trapped in this cold abyss seething with ancient rage
Love how it’s based where you live but fun fact it was actually filmed right near me in Australia! The Highschool and street Millie Bobby brown walks down is literally down the road from me
Now that you guys have basically caught up with this monsterverse, you’ve got to check out the tv show Monarch, it’s brilliant, the Russell family smashed it along with the rest of the cast!
funnily enough, Kong being carried by helicopters is a slight throwback to the original 1962 King Kong vs. Godzilla where they transport Kong using weather balloons!
There are numerous callbacks, actually. The war balloons you mentioned, Kong shoving the axe handle down Godzilla's throat is a callback to the original where Kong shoved a tree in Godzilla's mouth, the warbat attacking Kong and trying to suffocate him is a callback to the giant Octopus vs Kong in the original movie. Godzilla throwing Kong over his shoulder to dislocate his arm is a callback to when Kong threw Godzilla in the original
He's Serizawa's son, the film doesn't go into depth about this, but in the film's novel it says that he hates Godzilla, because his father had more time for the titans, he even sacrificed himself for the titans.
There's a chance that Ren is still alive since according to the novel his body wasn't found and ghidorah skull was still intact so we might be able to see the depth story with Ren and his father, I think the movie would be a mecha uprising with maybe a super mechagodzilla, a mechani kong, and mecha king ghidorah, and I also think monarch would build mechas of their own such as jet jaguar, mogura, kiryu, I think Ren should build kiryu after his redemption.
I think it's cool you guys made this video. Was looking forward to seeing Jen's reaction to this one with the context of the monsterverse since this is what all the movies were leading into
It always intrigued me to know that even as a skull, Ghidorah was still alive. Waiting for his revenge, and antagonizing Godzilla with that signal. And with Mechagodzilla and the Hollow Earth Energy, APEX unwittingly gave him the means of carrying out said revenge. Honestly, if it weren't for Kong and team Goji he might have finally killed Godzilla. And I still believe we haven't seen the last of Ghidorah.
, ghiddorah’s essence was essentially transplanted into mechagodzilla and when they used the new energy source from hollow earth, it allowed him to overpower the programming and take over control. So mechagodzilla is literally just Ghidorah reincarnated. That’s the reason Godzilla senses the project and kept attacking the facilities. Cause he senses Ghidorah. Ghidorah is a true alpha and the biggest competition to Godzilla. Godzilla knows it’s Mechagodzilla in there essentially
Fun fact, The pilot is the son of the doctor, but almost all of the scenes talking about that were cut because the studio decided to refocus the film solely on the monster fights
So my biggest problem with this film is the lack of any development for the villains. You get introduced to this Serizawa guy whose literally got the same name as the character who sacrificed himself to save Godzilla in the last film yet this movie NEVER makes the connection that these two characters are father and son unless you read the novel which also ends with Serizawa Jr not actually dying but going into a coma or something whilst potentially possessed by Gidorah's mind. Alot was cut from this film. You even have Lance Riddick (RIP) show up in like one scene and he does nothing. Jessica Henwick (Colleen from Iron Fist) was also cast in this film but all her scenes and storyline got cut in the final edit. I'd really love to see an extended cut to this movie. It feels like alot is missing. Its why I consider this one of the weaker MV projects sadly.
I mean , the reason we come to these movies are the monsters anyway, but i kinda agree that they wasted Shun Oguri's casting as Ren Serizawa, basically a throwaway character, that goes for the others as well.
@@JoshuaG Godzilla Minus One shows that you can have a monster film, and it be about the monster, but still have a good human story. The difference is that the folks behind Godzilla Minus One actually _cared_ about trying to write a good story.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim Good point, with GvK and GxK's case, they kinda went wild with these installments , mimicking the wacky, crazy and fun side of the Godzilla franchise, Showa Era is what i think it is. 🤔♥️👍👌
I like how this turned to be an epic showdown to a team up I never thought I wanted to see. Godzilla and Kong teaming up was the highlight for me. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys watch the New Empire. It's so worth it
I think rewatch reactions are good when you have this situation of without context vs with context. Because you’re still getting her first real reactions when she puts the pieces together for herself.
As a Tallahassee native, living in Texas, who visits Pensacola once a year (even if it's just driving through), I totally agree with you! It was awesome to see the Emerald Coast get a shout-out in a major blockbuster!
He propels his massive body by undulating his tail like a crocodile. Godzilla is capable of swimming extremely quickly and eluding the United States Navy despite his size
I honestly didn’t mind that Jen had to rewatch it since the first time you guys watched in the theaters she really didn’t know nothing about the monsterverse so I’m happy and glad yall were able to watch this cinematic experience 🥹
First time I watched any of these modern godzilla movies I just put it on background while I clean. And when a fight scene came up I took a break. I gotta say that felt like the best way to watch these movies because I enjoyed it more than sitting down and watching it the second time around.
Let's be honest, Kong just got pity points in the movie because Godzilla WRECKED HIM. I mean Godzilla actually killed Kong, they had to revive him haha I don't think there is much debate about it.
First time I saw this I thought the pouring the flask of liquor into the computer short circuiting Mecha-Godzilla briefly was a little silly and contrived but since then I read that in the mythological tale of the dragon Ghidora was based on....a warrior gave it alcohol which got it drunk and distracted it long enough to cut its head off. Now I think it's kinda clever the way that was integrated into the movie on the down low..
The director actually said that Godzilla would have been able to take on MechaGodzilla and win by himself but the reason he couldn't was cause he was exhausted from fighting Kong for so long. Also, I'm really happy they got rid of Brown's character. She and her group were completely pointless to the story and took away so much time that would have been better spent on other story points. Find it hilarious that she was busy doing Damsel for Netflix which didn't do well instead of Godzilla x Kong which did really well haha
I personally love reacting to this anyway, it completes the saga that you started posting on the channel and ive been waiting for this reaction for ages
Fun fact in recent DC comics the monster verse has Crossed over and Kong and Godzilla has been fighting the Justice League etc. Godzilla killed Superman, considering that Superman is very vulnerable to radiation based attacks it actually makes sense also very cool comics
I loved this movie. The fight with Kong, Godzilla and Mecha Godzilla was epic. It was everything I wanted. I did love the relationship between Kong and the girl. I loved the scenes in Hong Kong. It brought back memories from when I was there while in the Navy. Standing on the flight deck of my ship at night and looking at the city all lit up was quite the sight. I am not familiar with Pensacola, but I lived in St. Petersburg for ten years before heading back home to New Hampshire. My Mom and my little brother and his family still live there.
My Nerd Argument: As a fan of both Godzilla and Kong, i do feel they nerfed Kong a bit in the fights between the two. Godzilla's radioactive breathe and skin durability defense should give him the overall edge. However, Godzilla' should never exceed Kong in raw punching power or even come close with those little arms of his. His tail whips would be another story. Kong's biggest weakness is having thin gorilla skin which makes for poor armor protection. In the wild, leopards prey on gorillas because of that weakness. Gorillas are incredibly strong as animals go. If a gorilla had the same thick, loose protective skin of a leopard, I'm not so sure a leopard would want to tangle with a gorilla.
Holden hit the nail on the head with Serizawa. In the novelization, he viewed Godzilla as a cruel older brother who was favored by a neglectful father.
I agree with you on your opinion on Godzilla vs Kong and the poor "integration" of Kyle Chandler and to a lesser extend Millie Bobby Brown (who has a better treatment but still not good). 9:24 Missed opportunity to bring back the actor Richard T. Jones as Captain Hampton who played that exact role in Godzilla (2014)! Also, Richard T. Jones was in Super 8 with Kyle Chandler! 22:36 People might think Eiza Gonzalez Character suddenly turns into a villain. But that's not what is going on here. Rebecca Hall's character suddenly becomes stupid and asks questions she should've asked when the plan was made to bring Kong to Hollow Earth. Why didn't she ask what the purpose of the Apex company was guiding them into Hollow Earth? We got an extended scene between Alexander Starsgard and Delmin Belchir establishing the reason behind the mission. There's no reason to hide that information from Rebecca Hall's character! Because that information does not interfere with the convincing of Kong going to Hollow Earth who's there to find his family. Manufactured conflict. When Eiza gives the order to shoot at Kong that is where she turns evil, this time for no reason!
12:55 So the pilot's name is Hirota on his helmet but idk if that's a reference to Junya Hirota (vfx for Shin Godzilla, Assassination Classroom, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack) or Bryan Hirota (vfx for GvK)
The pilot is the son of the doctor. The son blames Godzilla for his father's death. Even though we know the doctor freely gave his life to bring Godzilla back. I wish the movie made that more abundantly clear. -OG
Fun Fact about the three main monsters and their designs going into this movie. . Godzilla = During the preplanning stage for GvK, director Adam Wingard considered altering Godzilla's design to have a bigger head and spikier dorsal plates. He ultimately left the design from King of the Monsters unchanged, believing that the film's premise mandated versions of the characters that audiences had grown accustomed to. This allowed the special effects team to reuse the model from KotM, although small changes would come in the form of his eyes being reworked, small scars from his battle with Ghidorah, and the charge of his atomic breath through his dorsal plates being altered (it's different in each of his movies). Wingard's desire to change Godzilla's design would come true for the next film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. . Kong = Whilst still the same character as from Skull Island, GvK demanded some changes to Kong outside of his size to show his aging. While the 2017 Kong model was referenced, changes included bulking him up, his beard (inspired by Adam Wingard's own beard), and gray patches of fur. There are about 6.3 million strands of hair on this model for Kong (actually less than Skull Island's 19 million strands), and during the battle in Hong Kong, debris like bicycles actually get caught and stuck to it. . Mechagodzilla = This Mechagodzilla's design was done by Jared Krichevsky, who'd previously designed the character for his appearance in Spielberg's adaptation of Ready Player One (that version actually being inspired by unused concept art for the Heisei MechaG). For GvK, he wanted to make this one more distinct. Design references included chameleons and mirror hand syndrome for the hands, the blocky design of classic Transformers, the Dino-Bots from Transformers: Age of Extinction, the T-800 from Terminator, and Mecha-King Ghidorah. Speaking of, this interestingly isn't the first version of Mechagodzilla to be possessed by Ghidorah, as that would also happen much earlier in the manga adaptation for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2.
Alexander Skarsgard who did play Tarzan, was in The Northman and in True Blood is the brother of Bill Skarsgard(Pennywise) and son of Stellan Skarsgard(Dr Selvig Avengers). Good to see Firefist crossing from Deadpool to the Monsterverse.
I love the nod to the 1962 Toho Studios movie King Kong VS Godzilla. When Kong shoves the handle of his axe into Godzilla's mouth, it parallels the '62 movie when Kong force fed Godzilla a tree.
Always been team Godzilla mostly because through the original movies even in the different eras his character has always grown and in the end he is a living force of nature where as King Kong and a majority of his movies have been remakes of the first and never really developed past just a big ape, the only reason some people side with him is because there are those who can communicate with him.
90% sure that the idea is that Mechagodzilla is essentially King Ghidorah reborn, and being wired to Ghidorah's skull makes it broadcast the alpha frequency or whatever. Hopefully they carry this forward to give us a Mecha-King Ghidorah built using the remaining two Ghidorah skulls, which would mirror classic Mecha Ghidorah having two real Ghidorah heads and one robot head.
I think i may have mentioned this in the last reaction but there are several Toho movies you should react to to get tie-ins to this movie. The ones that come to mind are: King Kong vs Godzilla (1962), Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster(1964), Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla(1974), Terror of MechaGodzila(1975), Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla(2002). Other than that, glad you have enjoyed this journey through the Monsterverse.
Mechagodzilla In This Movie Was Controlled By Ghidorah's Soul Since The Hollow Earth Energy Reawakened Him And There Were Two Skull's 1 Being In The Robot!!!
I was thinking this morning about what films I consider to be the height of cinema each year and went to check if y'all have seen any of Denis Villeneuve's films and was SHOCKED to see that there aren't vids It would be incredible for y'all to watch Sicario, Arrival, BR 2049, Dune, etc. I am hoping desperately it's on the poll and am looking forward to subscribing after the next pay raise!
28:45-"That energy blast is right out of Dragon Z..." NO! Actually, that is originally from 1974's Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla! A lot of things are from the Showa era Godzilla movies, and were imitated by other things not vice versa!
I like that you are getting Jen up to speed with the monsters and it's ok that you seen things before I seen so many movies many times and it's fun when it's a good one
Kong in this had grown from 104 feet tall to a towering 337 feet tall. MechaGodzilla in this stands roughly 400 feet tall, which makes it the tallest live action incarnation. The severed head of Ghidorah in this is affectionately known as Kevin, which was the one to the left. That same head takes control of MechaGodzilla, which is why it's so antagonistic towards Gojira. This is a loose remake of the 1962 Toho film King Kong vs Godzilla
i would honestly watch you guys rewatching movies as a "me and my wife/husband commentate on so and so" or a "retrospect on so and so with me and my wife/husband"
Since you guys are wanting to watch Godzilla: Minus One, you should also give Shin Godzilla a watch if you're able! It's such a crying shame we'll probably never get a sequel to that one.
I'm grateful Holden is team Godzilla. Also, Holden, I recommend Reacting to Dune part 1 and Dune Part 2, which imo is the best movie to come out this year.
shin godzilla will be an amazing watch. i would love to see the original 1954 godzilla and then the kings king vs godzilla from the 60s. i bet jen would like both movies for completely different reasons
I might be in a minority... There's a ton of channels I don't watch anymore because they switched to modern movies and TV shows. I work from home, so I was enjoying all the reactions to my favorite classics... where even though edited, I still knew what was going on. I imagine there's a ton of "Well off" individuals who are subscribed to every patreon and they all vote for the same newer stuff. There's still classic movies to react to... PURPLE RAIN and SPLASH off the top of my head. Also, She-Hulk and THE INCREDIBLE HULK movie had tons of Easter eggs and ties to THE INCREDIBLE HULK TV SERIES from the 70s, but no one has reacted to that award winning series yet. A "best of" is at least needed.
In the original King Kong vs Godzilla, there were actually two endings done. One with Kong winning for the American audience and the other with Godzilla winning for the Japanese audience.
Unfortunately, you're both right and wrong. Sadly, the "whiskey on the PC..." thing was important to the story, I hate to say that. Mecha was WINNING, until the "humans" worked with Kong and Godzilla, (shorting out the computer), which gave Kong the upper hand. And to Holden's point, Kong defeated Mecha with Godzilla's "energy" helping. him by charging his axe, and a little human help. So, the KvG argument still shows Godzilla stronger than Kong, as neither could defeat Mecha without the help of others. But G still dominated K in this movie. LOL.
My Ranking of the MonsterVerse films 1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters 2. Peter Jackson’s King Kong 3. Godzilla Vs. Kong 4. Kong: Skull Island 5. Godzilla (2014) 6. Godzilla (1998) I haven’t seen Godzilla X Kong New Empire yet, but I can’t wait to stream it, and I love all of your MonsterVerse reactions. Keep the Great Work Guys 👏😎
‘98 Godzilla and Peter Jackson’s King Kong aren’t part of the Monster-Verse (unless you were just ranking movies, with these characters, as your favorites in order, then sure thats fine obviously lol). Also speaking of non Monster-Verse movies and I’m not sure if you’ve seen it yet, but you definitely need to see Godzilla Minus One, I highly recommend it. Shin Godzilla is another one that’s pretty good.
Percy Jackson and 1998 Godzilla arent in the monsterverse. And if these are just the only Godzillas you have seen. Only percy jackson is in my top 10 personally.
Thanks for watching with us everyone! I can't wait for Godzilla X Kong to be available for us to react to it at home. We purposely skipped it in theaters to watch along with all of you so I hope to see you back when we can do it!

Kong shoving the axe in Godzilla's mouth is a sort of call back to when Kong shoved a tree in Godzilla's mouth in the Japanese franchise.
I was going to say that. These guys really need to watch the Showa movies
Mechagodzilla, like Ghidorah is a classic villain from Godzilla's earlier incarnations. What I enjoy about this one is that it's a composite of all the previous versions of Mechagodzilla.
So “Godzilla stole my dad” basically
They definitey should’ve had that in the movie
They did but the movie was 5 hours
Long so they completely rewrote and edited the movie.
The Meta references in this video were epic tier. Bless the editor!
Im glad you talked about Godzilla treading water. I always think about that when I see him standing upright in the middle of the ocean.
Why people don't consider his long tail? That helps in floating
@@danielruiz8259I wouldn’t be surprised. His beam dug pretty damn deep!
@@coltonpiper6156no kidding!
If you’re paying attention to the beam struggle between Godzilla and mecha Godzilla
Just before Godzilla’s atomic breath makes contact
You can see it doesn’t act like it beam.
Because he used it so much and his fight against Kong and the drill below
Yeah plus he was literally on the move none stop looking for the signal
I didn't even need the novelization to conclude that. A friend of mine who's delusional as hell saying Kong actually won even though the MOVIE said it was 2-1(via "round 2 goes to Kong" then GZ tko him making it 2 rd to 1)
But I explained that Godzilla was on the move literally the whole film!
Ghidorah from inside Mechagodzilla: "You thought you'd never see me again, didn't you? Well too bad, I'm alive"
Which is made even funnier when you realize that the part of Ghidorah used was the head Godzilla ripped off in their underwater fight in KoM.
In other words, this movie was secretly Godzilla vs Kong: The Revenge of Kevin. 😂
I'm happy Ghidorah made it to his sequal
Love that y'all watched this series.
For Godzilla floating. Being a giant fictional creature, and aquatic. He could have a modified swim bladder like some aquatic animals do. That in combination with how huge his lungs are would also add to his buoyancy to float or sink when he needs to. Without (much) paddling or treading, kinda like an alligator. But Godzilla being fictional his swim bladder and lungs could allow him to somewhat "stand" upright in the water
Ren serizawa also hates Godzilla because his dad ignoring him and following the Kaiju most of ren's childhood. Choosing Godzilla over his son
After Serizawa gave his life for Godzilla his son tries to kill him. Guess he hated his dad.
He actually did. It's better explained in the novel but he resented his father for devoting so much time to Godzilla and neglecting him.
Also it's implied in the novel that Serizewa did not die, but when Ghidorah took over Mechagodzilla, his mind and consciousness fused with Serizewa. It's actually a creepy description as it describes Ren being trapped in this cold abyss seething with ancient rage
Still can't believe it's been three years, what a movie!
I love the part where mechazilla just casually destroys both of them at the same time.
22:22 that's exactly why he is doing this, because his dad loved Godzilla more than his own son.
Love how it’s based where you live but fun fact it was actually filmed right near me in Australia! The Highschool and street Millie Bobby brown walks down is literally down the road from me
Kind of like Ghostrider? Supposed to be set in Houston, Tx, but all the visible landmarks were from Sydney?
Now that you guys have basically caught up with this monsterverse, you’ve got to check out the tv show Monarch, it’s brilliant, the Russell family smashed it along with the rest of the cast!
The beginning is Pensacola though... everyone knows we have a mountain, and on top of that mountain is the Olive Garden.
You also have strip clubs and a navy base...which are the only thinsg us sailors not stationed there tend to remember...
funnily enough, Kong being carried by helicopters is a slight throwback to the original 1962 King Kong vs.
Waited so many mornings hahaha Tarzan yesterday was cool but like where's the godzilla lmao 🤣
Basically Godzilla is grumpy here without Mothra to calm him down 😂 (only those who watch "The New Empire" will understand) 😅👍
I mean the dude lost everything to save the world multiple times. He lost his home, his girl and he’s the last of his kind.

We were the veterans who knew it said short lmao
I'm willing to give the title another change.
Title has been changed 😔
, ghiddorah’s essence was essentially transplanted into mechagodzilla and when they used the new energy source from hollow earth, it allowed him to overpower the programming and take over control.
11:45 WHEN WARSHIP IS UNDERWATER, YOU CAN SEE PEOPLES BODIES FLYING OUT OF IT!!!!
Fun fact,
The pilot is the son of the doctor, but almost all of the scenes talking about that were cut because the studio decided to refocus the film solely on the monster fights
Yeah, a lot was cut from the movie to not make it too long
This is what happens when you listen to the "Only monster, no humans!" Crowd.
People were rooting for godzilla because he wasnt even a villain. And because hes cooler

26:36 one of my favorite scene ever godzilla making kong submit then kong roaring back like NEVER!! i love these two alpha ever
I'm not gonna lie the "on your left" gave me goosebumps I get goosebumps for both scenes but the portal scene hits different
Let's be honest, Kong just got pity points in the movie because Godzilla WRECKED HIM. I mean Godzilla actually killed Kong, they had to revive him haha I don't think there is much debate about it.
Give it a rest,Godzilla is not invincible and would have gotten destroyed by mecha had Kong not saved him.
I am actually glad that someone other than myself has seen Early Edition. That was such a good show.
That is Serizawas son it doesn't say in movies but he grew to hate titans because his father was a absent father always busy with his titan research.
ONE OF THE BEST MONSTERVERSE MOVIES!
Jen asking if Godzilla is in Dragonball Z was great.
But what they fail to realise is that the beam thing was an homage to a Showa Godzilla movie, not something else
My Nerd Argument:
As a fan of both Godzilla and Kong, i do feel they nerfed Kong a bit in the fights between the two.
You guys should defenitly watch Shin Godzilla! It's a Toho film that's more in line with -1 than the Monsterverse. It's a great watch
I just want to say how much I love Jennifer's T-shirt of the 1933 OG Kong.
Holden hit the nail on the head with Serizawa. In the novelization, he viewed Godzilla as a cruel older brother who was favored by a neglectful father.
I remember the 1st godzilla vs Kong film. I watched it in 2nd grade, in 1972. I was memorized!!
If you need something to hold you over until Godzilla X Kong is out I'd suggest Monarch Legacy of Monsters. It's actually really good.
Hyped for Godzilla x Kong
Mechagodzilla has ORCAs built into it’s eyes.
Its funny that when they film in LA, people in LA are like,” IT DONT LOOK LIKE THAT! Thats not where thats at!” 😆
The Gendo Ikari edit took me by surprise so bad I nearly choked on my burrito.
I was thinking this morning about what films I consider to be the height of cinema each year and went to check if y'all have seen any of Denis Villeneuve's films and was SHOCKED to see that there aren't vids
It would be incredible for y'all to watch Sicario, Arrival, BR 2049, Dune, etc.
I mean….. idk about you guys but I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to a “Revisit/commentary” series. But only for super significant films of course
13:36 Stands up right and can float upright as well, but he's always swam the same way you see in this movie.
Godzilla x Kong is available on digital NOW!! 🤩
I don't usually watch re-watch reactions(yes, i do appreciate the irony in this statement lol) but I'm 100% here for this for some reason.
Here for Holden’s confirmation that MechGodzilla is waterproof to 30m but not his control panel lol.
This is my favorite one out of all the recent Monsterverse stuff.
Holden you are a testament to God's greatness. The fact that a guy like you is with a woman like that is evidence of it. A real miracle 🥰
LOL.
Mechagodzilla was sending an apex predator titan signal. Hence, the Ghidorah head that ultimately took complete control of Mechagodzilla. -OG
Queensland , Australia was the filming location for the Pensacola , Florida scenes
