I've never heard of your channel before but this video popped up as I'm a fan of this band... THANK YOU for pulling the lyrics and trying to understand them instead of just immediately dismissing the song due to his vocal style... Not enough people give vocalists like him credit... Especially with the writing talent they possess...
Fantastic reaction, so glad you followed along with the lyrics as you listened. Eventually it does it much easier to understand these types of vocals. Also, be prepared for the influx of other Lorna Shore fans asking you to check out the Pain Remains Trilogy as well as videos concerning Will Ramos and his vocal prowess. His one take covers REALLY do show how much control he has over his voice.
What he said. The one take will show you that really is his voice. The laryngoscopy by The Charismatic Voice channel shows you what happens in his throat. The Pain Remains trilogy shows you how these vocals can express the deepest pain. And the Vocal Cover of Hypnotize shows his real voice. Will Ramos really is super talented. Hope you’ll check them all out.
I love this song and your openness to it. Heavier metal genres can be difficult to parse for the uninitiated, nothing but a wall of sound, and you jumped right into the deep end. I've always interpreted this song as being about the sensation of dying. If you want to learn more about how he does those kinds of vocals, The Charismatic Voice and he went to a lab, where they stuck a camera down his throat.
He's the first and only metal vocalist to have that done so far and he has one of the most wild voices for it. His much more mellow covers are pretty interesting too over on his channel TheWillRamos.
It’s adorable that the lead vocalist has the gnarliest vocals in metal. Juxtaposed that he is the happiest funny teddy bear. And I’m here for it. Now imagine this same band can illicit emotions that can make you cry. Pain Remains part 1 Dancing Like Flames. It’s a three part trilogy of songs/videos. Incredible lyrics and musicians shit
@@TheRealMasonYoung I think Terrible's voice is pretty incredible because of his gutterals, everything else he has his own spin on too but I think Ramos is still defying the laws of vocal folds, lol.
I know a lot of people don't get it, but this music is as moving to me as listening to Mozart or Pachelbel. It's actually calming and pulls the stress out of me.
Same. No matter how angry or sad I am, there always manages to be some metal artist/band that's more angry or sad than me, and that always makes me feel okay.
Best description I’ve seen about the vocalist Will Ramos: vocals/sounds of a hellhound, but the personality of a golden retriever. I’m sure someone else has mentioned him, but he can sing really well too (his cover of Sleep Tokens song hypnosis)
there is a one take vocal playthrough by the vocalist himself. And yes, the charismatic voice channel - check her video with the vocalist . His name is Will Ramos by the way,
This is a genre called symphonic blackened deathcore its basically the heaviest of the “core” genres it take’s elements of black metal and death metal instrumentals as well as harsh vocals called (gutterles, fry and false cord screaming) and breakdowns which is basically the drops where the drumming and guitar have no vocals behind them. Ive been following lorna shore since 2015 their first album and this is amazing seeing someone so open to seeing this genre🤘🏻
Also if you wanna figure out how his Voice dose that, The Charismatic Voice has you covered . She Talked Will Ramos into doing a throat camera thing with medical professionals to figure out how he does that body mechanics wise. Metal vocals are a fascinating realm beyond the notion that it's "just screaming" it's difficult and technical if done like this.
Loved the reaction, especially giving it a chance and showing you actually seemed to enjoy it. Didn't just write it off you were intrigued. Definitely earned a sub 😁
The first time I heard this song/saw the video, I felt winded afterwords. Like I’d just seen/heard something I wasn’t supposed to and ran from it. Amazing.
Will the singer is one of the most genuine person. For an up close video of Will inside his throat a youtuber Vocal coach has that video so worth a watch.
There are two ways you can make your voice do that, internal and external fry scream, gutturals and growls. External, you use your breath support as you breathe out, using the shape and position of the throat, mouth and tongue to create sound, usually also using your false chords. Internal same thing but you are pulling air in and you are using the mechanisms of breath holding and the way you can stagger breathe or even hold your breath to change the characteristics of the sounds you make. Because internal techniques are pulling air in you can sustain growls and screams for a much longer time than the equivalent externals. One of the absolute best elements of this song that I think people don't understand why they should appreciate it, beyond the impact of it, is that growl snarl because he's hitting both internal and external techniques at the same time and to alternate them that seamlessly is mind boggling.
0:40 "It so dark" Britt, before this you havent heard anything dark :P YOu're in for a ride with Lornashore. Can highly recommend Pain Remains Trilogy and Sun//Eater
Your reaction to this is incredible. This band and their music is the music of my happy place. My brain just completely unwinds listening to this and I feel a sense of peace.
You should know that Will Ramos (the lead singer of this band) is Christian. He's not glorifying anything evil or hell itself, you have to look at this as a warning of what can come. The guy has been called a human golden retriever because he's just this awesomely kind and empathetic sweetheart of a man with a bit of a dorky streak and we love him for it. He's not pretending to be anything he's not like a lot of musicians. The guy is as humble as can be.
i really appreciate you going in with an open mind and open arms and appreciating it for what it is, and doing the work to read the lyrics so you can understand it better! it’s not an easy song to get into by any means; i think you’d enjoy the pain remains trilogy, the lyricism is beautiful and his vocals truly express the pain of the songs. if you want something REALLY different from him, check out his hypnosis cover on his channel!
I love your reactions Britt, second metal song you have done it. I mean, you went to the heaviest subgenres right away (first brutal death metal now deathcore) and still you have them a chance. You are the best reaction channel by far.
I suggest you do the pain remains trilogy 1 2 and 3. It will make you tear up. They are beautiful. Also Will Ramos the lead singer has some solo covers out there where he uses clean vocals you'd probably enjoy that
I love this. I'm a huge Lorna Shore fan. I'd recommend you reacting to the 3 videos of the Pain Remains Trilogy by them. Be ready for an emotional Rollercoaster! Some of the most impactful music I've ever heard.
Will Ramos the vocalist is an incredible singer/frontman I saw them perform in concert last year and he delivers exactly what you heard in the MV there's been a video where they stuck a camera in his nose to look at his vocal cords when he does all his screams and to top it off he is an incredibly nice dude
This has been one of the best reactions I’ve seen to this song…just looking up the lyrics and appreciating Will’s vocals ❤️ I just want to say that this type of extreme sound is an outlet for some of us. Some find it repulsive, some find it uplifting. It’s all about finding your taste, and I personally love this. Lots of heavy bands have lyrics that mean so much to the betterment of society, even if it is just a song (check out All Shall Perish!). Thank you for doing this ❤
The Charismatic Voice did a video where she and Will went to a doctor and they put a camera up his nose and down hospital throat to see what exactly is going on when he does all these different vocal techniques, and it’s crazy cool to see. He twists and moves the different things above the vocal folds, creating natural distortion and these different sounds in a healthy way that aren’t damaging to his voice.
You have to react to the Pain Remains Trilogy now! And also check out Charismatic Voice where they put a camera down his throat to see what happens when he makes those sounds
I highly recommend checking out the whole EP. It's a concept EP about the stages of the death of a Phoenix. Death, Purgatory and Rebirth. There's obviously the shock factor to grab attention but I believe the whole thing is beautifully written.
Not only are the vocals all him, he's just as good live. And as a person he is the definition of golden retriever personality. He's the sweetest fucking dude that just happens to summon demons with his talent
Will Ramos' voice is like a mountain lion and Grizzly bear fighting, and Gollum shows up and gets eaten halfway through. I love it! If you want to check out his cleans, he does an AMAZING cover of Hypnosis by Sleep Token. Gotta say it's a tie between that cover and Lorna Shore's Immortal for my favorites of his, though. You should also check out the Pain Remains Trilogy, though be warned you'll need Kleenex because starting with the Pain Remains I, it's going to reach into your chest, grab your heart, and squeeze it HARD. Maybe it's just me, but it hits different since we lost my cousin who introduced me to this band on Feb 5th at 36. What's kinda funny is even Will didn't really know what he was doing, so there's a vid of him going to get his throat scoped and this man does things with his vocal chords that had the doctor straight up saying "You're a unicorn". He does things with his vocal chords that aren't supposed to be possible. Like...flip them freaking upside down.
As a lover of almost all music..I smiled through your array of facial expressions on this, you seem like a beautiful human! Best wishes to you and enjoy your journey into musical randomness. This is a different one.. but consider "Yebba-my mind (sofar nyc) .....pretty powerful emotion
Hi :) You could react to all their released videos since "To the h*ellfire", that following video would be "...and i return to nothingness" and the studio version "of the Abyss" that would be the EP 2021 when Will Ramos entered Lorna Shore after the EP they released this Musicvideos : -Sun//Eater -Into the Earth -Cursed to Die -Pain Remains (this is a trilogy) Album tracks without video: -Welcome back o´sleeping dreamer -Soulless Existence -Apotheosis -Wrath with every single release they intensified the music, the orchestration and usage of choirs. hope to see more reactions from you to my 2nd favorite band Lorna Shore, greetings from Germany
You haven't even scratched the surface of what Will is capable of vocally. If you can do 21 minutes of Leona Shore you must do a "The Pain Remains" reaction. One of the most emotional metal moments one could have!
If you would like to see how vocalists are able to make these sounds you should check out The charismatic Voice's video with Will Ramos who is the vocalist of Lorna Shore
I'm sure someone has already mentioned it, but The Charismatic Voice did a video a while back where she met up with Will Ramos (the vocalist) and took him to a voice clinic, where they put a camera down his throat to see exactly what's going on when he makes these sounds. It's gross and fascinating at the same time, and also worth it just to see how bubbly and hyperactive the guy is behind the scenes. He's an absolute sweetheart with a hundred demons living in his lungs.
I really appreciate not only your willingness to explore something that most folks immediately reject as incomprehensible noise but also your interest in exploring the lyrics and breaking down the meaning of this track. If you continue to do metal or other music with harsh vocals, please keep this style! Liked and Subbed! Edit: Also, I noticed that you recognized Azrael as a name. When I looked this up myself a while back I learned that he is one of the angels (think Michael, Gabriel, etc.). He is mentioned in Islam as the angel of death who guides the dead to the afterlife, hence his invocation in this track. To my knowledge, he is not mentioned at all in Judaism or Christianity.
I appreciate the fact that you didn't dismiss this dark musical art as noise and B/S, and chose to listen and try to understand it. I am now a subscriber, and can't wait to delve into you opinions on other tunes. Nice Reaction. Peace!
That was such an amazing reaction! Welcome to the Metal community! I love how open you are to explore the song and feel the music. There are also some amazing Women in metal that you should check out. Circle with Me by Spiritbox, or Pisces by Jinger would be great places to start. And yes, they can all make those noises in real life, no sound effects.
I just stumbled across your channel and am so glad you reacted to this. Let me start by saying I'm also a Christian and though this song may make you feel you should pray, these guys are really great guys! Will Ramos the lead singer really does make these sounds and it's incredible! You should listen to his 1 take play through of To The Hellfire and then to contrast that listen to his cover of Hypnosis by Sleep Token after and it'll blow your mind.
Found your channel from your George Carlin content but as a fan of lorna seeing this reaction got my sub to your channel lol. I've seen lorna 3xs and am seeing them again in May. Definitely not the genre for everyone but you handled this experience very well. Definitely 2nd the other comments recommending to watch his one take performances or the charismatic voice vid where they go down his throat. Will is a Legend already and a genuinely awesome dude.
Ya imma be straight up like your other commenters, I never would have thought you would check out Lorna shore. Anything they make is beautiful and the lyrics are beautiful I'm a very big fan and of course imma suggest the pain remains trilogy cuz it's a metal love ballad. The first one dancing like flames has the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard and I had to show my husband. If you decided to check them out again please maybe check out part 1 and you can decide to end it there or go forward.
Elizabeth at The Charismatic Voice put a camera down lead singer Will Ramos's throat to see what's happening in there. It's pretty interesting. Will seems like a super-nice guy in interviews and was helping Elizabeth and her husband Kirk cook dinner beforehand. Lorna Shore is my favorite deathcore band and this was the song that turned me around on them and the genre. It's definitely not for everyone, though. Great reaction regardless, Britt!
You gotta watch Will Ramos, the lead singer, do the one take vocal of this song. It's a whole different experience. And then you'll realise he can do all of these sounds live too 😁
Cool reaction. Lorna Shore is extreme enough to probably be pretty hard to get into, appreciate and certainly to like, but you do get used to it and start to get more out of it. And there's a lot to get, they're great musicians and the music is interesting.
Azreal is the name of the Angel of Death, aka The Grim Reaper, he helps souls cross over to the other side, what lies beyond the veil of our known existence.
Watch THE CHARISMATIC VOICE video where He (Will Ramos) has a vocal/throat expert slide a camera in his throat to see how he does it, and in turn completely changing the way she (as an expert) has to look at what the human vocal chords are capable of, because shes never seen anything like it. Will also (despite the insane, possessed sounding vocals) is also one of the nicest people.
I've never seen someone new to this style of music and this style of vocals be so calm and trying to understand the meaning behind the song without just labeling it "noise" or "not for them"
1:20 Another channel called "The Charismatic Voice" actually did a throat scope with Will Ramos (The lead singer in Lorna Shore), you should watch that video! It'll show you how he and other leads of death metal/metalcore bands do it! :)
Huge respect for sticking through this. Extreme metal is an acquired taste, it’s nice to see people look in who aren’t familiar with the genre. With guttural vocals, make a “Huu” sound as quiet as possible. Go lower and lower trying to feel the muscles in your throat expanding, expand your gut aswell, the shape of your mouth and tongue can alter the sound. Black metal vocals are the opposite tightening your throat (high pitch) Stay well.
I appreciate you alot and I appreciate you saying go have the day I deserve means a lot to someone who may be lost in their own demons. You saying that gives a little freedom to these people in these moments. To me this song is about suicide out of anger for others and sadly that happens all the time especially with depression but you are so amazing I appreciate you. I Enjoy your work on TH-cam cause YOU deserve it and if someone is lost put in the comments I will try to help you cause trust me. I know what that pain feels like. Having to go through it and wanting to end the pain extensive therapy showed me I can maybe help other or at least understand someone in their dying breath. I love all of you and I love you for making this video. God bless you.
When you said this is what hell might sound like it immediately made me think of Ozzy, from his No More Tours live album, the first time he retired, "There's people say if you listen to the likes of Ozzy Osbourne you're going to go to hell. Well we're going to have a good old time down there".
From On My Shit from Snow Tha Product, to Pearl Jam Black Unplugged, to Into the Hellfire. You're doing some of my favorite songs in my almost 50 years in life. Love your reactions!❤
9:50 I don't know if you missed it or not but the chorus contains Azrael. The Angel of Death. (Not in Christianity, but in Islam and Judaism) EDIT: And surprisingly enough, it's even used in the correct context. Azrael....free me from this mortal shell. It is the job of Azrael to remove the soul of a person to peace.
She paused it right at the beginning of the last break down and said she thinks that’s what going to hell would sound like. I just was thinking “ummmm just wait about 15 seconds”. Lol the snarls
I just found your channel, and I must say... I'm very impressed by your lyrical analysis of metal songs. There aren't many reactors unfamiliar with the genre who do this, let alone do it as amazing and honest as you do! Thank you so much for these reactions! There's a melodic hardcore band called Counterparts I think you might appreciate. Their newer song "Whispers of Your Death" is worth a reaction video. Their lyrics aren't very deep, but are highly emotional. That particular song happens to be about the vocalist's cat who struggled with a disease and passed away, and it's just beautiful in my opinion.
When she said H-E-Double Hockey Sticks I knew this would make me chuckle but I'm really impressed with how open minded she was about the music and lyrics.
Lorna Shore just hit a million monthly listeners. that’s huge for deathcore
Yeah, I'm happy to see Extreme Metal subgenres bands being successful
It's a beautiful thing isn't it?
that makes me so happy :) let exteme music get mainstream, lets stop the gatekeeper and bring normies to the pit
I'm huge for deathcore ;)

The sounds Will makes are ALL down to just his vocal chords and mouth shape changes. (NO enhancements needed). He does it live, and it's phenomenal.
He actually rarely uses his vocal cords for Lorne songs
He learned it through singing with Songs like this when he was a Teen
As a drummer who has seen Lorna live I’m baffled at Austin’s pure stamina and foot speed with his double kick pedal.
Watch the one take vocal performance of this, it's amazing

Peace!
I would recommend the "Pain Remains" Trilogy . Lyrics, storytelling Video and Music whise a Masterpiece
Lmao!! Hahaha. Yr reaction at the end is great.
Omg pleaseeeee do his 1 take vocal videos!!! Also he's the nicest, most humble dude ever. Super likeable
You should watch one of will's vocal playthroughs, you'll be mindblown how effortless he does these vocals
AZRAEL is the arch angel of death. A guide neither good nor bad.
Deathcore vocals.. some of the BEST.
I have listened to deathcore for a VERY long time but Lorna Shore introduced me the world of Blackened Death Core and I am so for it.
Check out the Charismatic Voice when they put a camera down Will's throat to see how it works 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Please check out their song, pain remains part 1, it is beyond emotional, and the lyrics are beyond beautiful!
I think it’s time for Dancing Like Flames. Great reaction!
And there's a lot to get, they're great musicians and the music is interesting.
now that you're hooked up with the song, try their trilogy "Pain Remains"😁😁
Azreal is the name of the Angel of Death, aka The Grim Reaper, he helps souls cross over to the other side, what lies beyond the veil of our known existence.
Watch THE CHARISMATIC VOICE video where He (Will Ramos) has a vocal/throat expert slide a camera in his throat to see how he does it, and in turn completely changing the way she (as an expert) has to look at what the human vocal chords are capable of, because shes never seen anything like it. Will also (despite the insane, possessed sounding vocals) is also one of the nicest people.
Check out will ramos he is the lead Singer of the band, one take vocal playthrough of this song👌🏻
I've never seen someone new to this style of music and this style of vocals be so calm and trying to understand the meaning behind the song without just labeling it "noise" or "not for them"
You should watch a video from the charismatic voice where they put a scope to watch his vocal cords
Lorna shore …the pain remains trilogy is a must !
Okey ...When i see someone to react to Lorna ... im instantly subscribe
If you want a sing that everyone can connect to by them, the Pain Remains trilogy is absolutely incredible. Brought me to tears
9:50 I don't know if you missed it or not but the chorus contains Azrael. The Angel of Death. (Not in Christianity, but in Islam and Judaism)
EDIT: And surprisingly enough, it's even used in the correct context. Azrael....free me from this mortal shell. It is the job of Azrael to remove the soul of a person to peace.
Keep up the good work 🤘
thank you so much!! have the day you deserve!
She paused it right at the beginning of the last break down and said she thinks that’s what going to hell would sound like. I just was thinking “ummmm just wait about 15 seconds”. Lol the snarls
Didn't expect you reacting to this xD but welcome to the hellfire
haha!
You should check out his one take vocal performances.
Yesssss do their Pain Remains Trilogy pleeaaassseeee!!!
When she said H-E-Double Hockey Sticks I knew this would make me chuckle but I'm really impressed with how open minded she was about the music and lyrics.
