      Like belgrade with only trams? or cities in England like birmingham with only one tram line? Or dublin with 1 and half commuter rail and 2 tram lines? And Athens with only 3 lines? or Rome with 2 and a small tram network? I think cologne has a good network to start with and since most stops have more than one line, Frequencie is also quite good, most parts of the network have a 5 minute headway

      Birmingham at least has S-bahn frequencies on (some) local rail. Leeds-Bradford (where I live now) has a very poor local rail network (mainly every 30 minutes) and no trams, only buses which get stuck in traffic

      I love them. They aren't that uncomfortable but way easier to clean than plush seats

    Rather like Stuttgart then, a light rail system that also claims to be a U-Bahn

      Yes, combines U-Bahn and tram = Stadtbahn / light rail.

    The best of all these videos is not seeing "vagoneros" (i think you name it street seller), street artists and priesters

    Personally, I don't find public transport in Cologne that bad on my occasional visits. The only two gripes I have, is that it Cologne hasn't got a proper U-Bahn - but designed it as underground tramsystem with level-crossings inside the tunnels - and the dual floor-heights - low-floor versus high-floor - roughly separating the East-West from the Nord-South lines. But this situation has grown historically and is not too badly managed and integrated. Only for the unfortunate interruption at Severinstrasse of the North-South tunnel after the collapse of the City Archive which seems to take forever to complete?

      TheMexxodus Actually within the city centre I can’t complain about the system neither. However, the trains are often very full, have no air conditioning and the connections to suburban regions are pretty poor. As you have mentioned correctly, it’s a pity that the city hasn’t got a full underground system like Munich, Berlin and Hamburg as it wouldn’t be a problem to add trains and therefore working against the crowding.
      Concerning the north-south-subway-line: after the building has collapsed, no one wanted to continue the construction and now there is no proper progress in work for several years. It’s a pity as it’s just a few kilometres to build underground and it would help the traffic flow a lot...

      @@SuperUnbenannt The fact that all public transit in Cologne has no air conditioning makes it utterly useless and a pain to ride in summer. But that's also true for a lot of other cities in Germany. Why are the transit companies cheaping out on that? With temperatures often near 40° C, nobody can tell me that it's unnecessary to have AC.

    • @TheMexxodus
      @TheMexxodus 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CreativePixels95 It wasn't common practive to equip public transport (interurban, commuter, metro)trains, trams, busses, ... with air conditioning in Western Europe. Only the last three decades has Airco more frequently been included as a requirement for new rolling stock. However, there are still exceptions, even outside Europe. E.g. the latest Azur-MPM10 metro trains of Montreal haven't got airco, although during a visit to that city in the summer I can also remember how unpleasant travelling underground was.

    • @CreativePixels95
      @CreativePixels95 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMexxodus It should be a standard by now regardless. Also, these temperatures are potentially lethal for some people. And I can also see the lack of AC driving away potential customers. Every car made since the early 2000s has AC, why would someone do without suddenly just because they are riding the bus?

      The K5000, K4500 and the refurbished older trains (2400 series) in Cologne are equipped with an AC. So are all newer busses.
