That's one thing as an artist (pen and paper, not carving wewd) but a lot of people compare themselves to what I do and I have to tell them that we all use different practice methods so no one's art can be the same in the same amount of time. Anyone who tries art and shows me, I tell them it looks really good, because it is a confidence booster and they will most likely continue making art in their own form. :) lol just got on a small rant there

Creating a complex piece of art can be stressful. Creating complex art as part of your job is even more stressful. And when that job involves a huge audience expecting it to turn out great and expecting you to finish it in a short amount of time and edit the video also, I can't even imagine what that must be like. I could never do what you do, but you do it incredibly well. Nice one.

I have actually thought about this whole "comparing myself to others" a lot as well. I am a 3D Artist and everybody that went to my class had already experience in something. I didn't. I was completely new to everything. Sitting next to them and comparing my work to theirs always demotivated and depressed me. No matter how hard I worked, it always looked like shit. I thought that if I would just practice hard enough, I would reach their level some time. Buuut that never happened. They all improved so much and I seemed to have made no progress. There were days when I couldn't motivate myself to work at all because of how depressing it was. Sometimes I even thought of quitting.
I always try to see the work of my colleagues as a motivation but sometimes that just happens automatically. In the end I'm glad that I kept going. It's what I want to do and I will work hard for that. I do know that I am the worst out of my colleagues. I can accept that fact without pitying myself now. The important thing for me is to not get dragged down by it and focus on my personal goals.
Your words always help me remembering that and I am very grateful :)
Seeing the end of this project years later, it is very inspiring to not give up even if you have to take a break.

Honestly, same, I’m also a freshman artist, self taught, and I always had problems with comparing. There’s so many people my age, and younger, with much better art than mine and it makes me insecure as hell. Whenever someone wants to see my art I say “no it’s bad” and just change the subject.
