I'm just going to say this. This update is the best update that has ever come to War Thunder (in my opinion). Multipathing is on the start to going down, Fox-3's have finally been introduced, a buttload of FM corrections, a bunch of MFD remodelling, Gaijin listening about the F-15C carrying more than 4 Aim-120's, i can go on. Personally after playing this game with the new fox-3's (coincidentally first one was against you Aero, hey man good fighting), i don't feel overpowered nor annoyed. In every conforntation where i died by an R-77 or AAM-4 (heck an Aim-7M at one point) wasn't this frustrating experience but more of "ahhh, i shoulda done this instead of that". Its clear when you make a mistake and it honestly begins to get easy to learn from those mistakes. I haven't gotten that feeling since my very short time on DCS. Now i will say i had plenty of help prior to this with heaps of knowledge on avoiding these missiles and also heaps if knowledge for air combat. For those who are getting decimated by Aim-120's, Mica's, AAM-4's, or any Fox-3 one Aero has already done a video tailored to WT itself so I'd definitely say go check it out. These missiles are evadable, very evadable tbh, it just takes the knowledge of what to do in the situation and the understanding of how energy states work. All in all, I love this update. A bunch of bugs need to be fixed still, however thats to be expected by now. If they keep things as they are rn while fixing all the bugs, i think we have ourselves a great game and a great future ahead of us as long as we keep in this direction.
Yeah this update really feels like a quality of life update. Also the FOX-3's are very dodgable if you know the basics on how to evade em. Gaijin is 100% going in the right direction :D
I’m finding that the teams that have the most players up high win every match. I think that people are slowly going to start realizing the meta has changed.
Definitley with amrams you need to give your missle as much energy as possible and give yourself as much potential energy to evade incoming missles. Those who play dcs will have a huge advantage.
yeah this feels like one of those power creep/arms race moments where if you don't IMMEDIATELY start grinding them, you're going to be stuck with 2x 9Ls in a lobby full of fox3s. maybe in sim there'll be some goobers committing bobrun to farm, but it's going to be slow going
Not gonna lie, I'm kinda butthurt the Italian F-16 doesn't have AMRAAMs. It should, really - Italy only used AMRAAMS kn their 16's and never Sparrows.... Gaijin never fails to disappoint. 😂
I agree that realistically, it should have got amraams, but if you think about it from a tech tree oriented perspective, it's a bad idea. The grippen and the F-16ADF don't both need them. None of the other A variants got them besides the AM either, so if Gaijin gave the AIM-120 to one of the ADF/MLU variants, it would have to go to all of them.
Played 1 match in rb today, usually fly in sb, and caught 3 amraam in a row while flying around 50m above the ground and perpendicular to missiles. That was interesting xd
i mean i played all nations and lemme tell you when f16+f15 was addedwith their new missles USSR(which was its comp) could BARELY compete. Finna hear the "cope" after posting this xD
Other than Germany getting the short end of the stick this update, I'm kinda impressed how good it feels. Every nation gets these new missiles that are pretty lethal but on the other hand, they can be notched pretty simply if you know what you're doing. There doesn't feel like there's a single nation running away while everyone else is powercrept. There's a surprising amount of BVR skills and evasion tactics that transfer over from the likes of DCS. I also think that even though the smaller lobby games are rare, the multipathing height reduction kind of solves one of the biggest problems with Air RB. Multipathing at 100m in a 16v16 basically led to almost nobody dying at long range because flying on the deck was basically a free ticket to the furball. Some people aren't happy that most matches are still 16v16 but it's a lot less chaotic now. Potent BVR missiles and less effective multipathing have made positioning and defensive maneuvers way more important. And at least in my case, I'm definitely having to earn my way to the merge, focusing on my aspect to the target and paying attention to my RWR to see if the guy I'm about to get into a turnfight with is about to chuck a last ditch FOX 3 at me or an IR missile at me, each requiring different evasion methods on my part.
I got the R77 on the mig29smt and I felt like a god. It’s good in BFM and BVR. Was able to use hmd in dogfights and R77 preformed like an R73. Awesome missile.
With how people currently play, I can take an F-15C and press the main enemy force by launching all 8 of my Fox 3's. Even if I miss all 8, my team will clean up any stragglers on the other side of the map and press them as they try to re-engage. I typically get 2-3 kills from it, so my team typically steamrolls them.
@@foicex No, it's not. It means now players will actually need to _learn_ how to play in a BVR world rather than be babied by super unrealistic multipathing that allows you to easily hug the deck. Either learn how to play the way Top Tier modern jets were always supposed to be played, or go back to props and early jets where you belong. Top Tier should belong to the skilled, not the chaff.
@@foicex Considering that the majority of Top Tier RB players are woefully low skill due to having rushed to top tier via premium vehicles, or just many of them not even understanding the basics of aerial warfare necessary for props let alone 4th gen tech, they are _absolutely_ wrong. Nothing screams "low skill" and/or a lack of understanding modern aerial warfare like a player complaining about no longer being able to effectively avoid SARH and ARH via hugging the deck because multipathing has finally been made closer to realistic (which it still isn't, because based on the radar/missile system its realistic effectiveness would be as high as 50m to as low as 5m, not a base 60m). DCS players do just fine in a world ruled by ARH without training wheels like highly exaggerated multipathing. Top Tier WT players need to learn to do the same, otherwise ya'll might as well go play Ace Combat.
Air RB got really busted after update, facing full f16c teams with aim120's all the time while trying to grind the gripen c, US was winning every single match against small nations just by lobbing mindlessly missiles from further than IR missiles can reach. pretty much only map that was semi balanced was the city map.
The reason you didn't die in that first missile in the SIM match is the R-77's and 73's for whatever reason got a fragmentation or explosive nerf 8 times out of 10 they'll just "hit" their target. On the practice range I hit the low altitude F-86 Sabre with an R-73 and no severe damage and the high altitude one with an R-77 from my MiG-29 and again just a "hit"
Had to disable the Shift+A option. I use left shift to max out AOA in Sim where it actually matters and can't have this menu popping up. Honestly this should only be an option for console gamers, no one on PC should be so lazy to not have their keys bound efficiently.
Lucky bastard I’m stuck at work. The visual selector menu is cool I guess but I don’t see it being more useful than key binds that let me switch things on the fly. Excited for DCS gaming in warthunder was really fun in the dev server. And super hyped about separate chaff and flares that’s probably the biggest and most important change besides the missiles.
I will say the splash damage is definitely over the top. If I multipath a missile and it hits the ground it shouldn't be exploding because the warhead isn't going to fuse. Not exploding and killing me anyway,
Well it only works if your slow enough. So if you wanna use MP just fly faster. In the case of the flanker I killed, he would've died if I used a 9m or guns. He was dead either way.
The weapon options menu in game is kinda useless, I have 6 and X assigned to scroll through weapon types. I will be finding the option and disabling it. It is redundant to me.
I cannot get these things to work no matter what I do, any help or tips would be appreciated. Fly in orbit so they don't burn energy getting to loft, no joy. Fire them at targets low to ground, in the stratosphere, flying straight at me it doesn't matter. No matter what I do these missiles just don't connect, and I am keeping lock too, at least until they reach active seeking range. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. So far i know 20 games trying grinding mirage 2000 5 kill 20 death ( 5 kills is on moutain map when i can protect against the fox 3). In desert/water map i just leave now can even have a interest in playing this without fox 3

@AeroTurtle well with flares each pop of them uses waaaay more than usual (around 30 or more). It just straight up wont let me use chaff at all it says I have 0 when I load in no matter how many are selected. I play on xbox.
If you break lock too early, it will just keep going to where the target's last heading was when you broke lock. Meaning that if your target changes direction before the missile sees it, the missile probably won't find it

On ur joystick there should be a button that u can kinda move around, almost similar to a d-pad on a controller, use that to look around
@@ryant367 I do use the joystick nipple for looking around buts it's very rough not smooth and hard to control even with 100 hours in sim I don't find it very clean to use cause when you wanna look slowly you can't really adjust the speed and when you wanna snap from left to right it also doesn't work since its fixed speed
I'll probably make a video in the future on that. I use trackir to look around in SIM.
@@AeroTurtle thank you very much
Yo try f4 ICE I dare you
He won’t put himself in the position of pain 😂
@@TheSatiricalGamer Spookston does😂😭
@@notmyrealaccount5245He’s a ground player tho. So you really can’t compare.
@@Rageaben just doing it for fun? 🥺
@@notmyrealaccount5245 Ok that’s fair then.
Can the aim 120 still pull a 180 on the live server?
I gotta give it a test
@@AeroTurtle it works i died to one last match!
@AeroTurtle that would be awesome! I love dogfighting (and i play ps4) so this would be cool to see
As a DCS player, it does NOT feel like DCS lmao. Cant ever compare the two. That’s like CoD to Battlefield (in their better days)
the sim mode is close to what GS server does... and BTW the radar is better simulated in WT than in the DCS F16...
only Tornado and nothing else !
Can anyone answer my question I’m thinking of buying golden eagles can I then use these golden eagles to skip the research parts and get the fighter jet I’m new to this game and I’m a kid please anyone answer me
Yes u can use ge (golden eagle) to get parts or u zay research parts yes u can and u can also ge the whole grind of the plane but i will recommend you to grind and play have experience before buying and getting dying cuz u don't know wht to do
@@Ares94r can I just use golden eagles to skip doing research for a fighter jet
I just want to get F16 fighter now
Is the update out now?
Yup!
yea
Yep
Wtf you pronounce missile 2 different ways?
Because I can
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT MENU I HATE IT, I'VE BEEN KILLED MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE OF THAT :'c
Edit: nevermind I just saw how you did it. Thx so much. Beautiful video btw
the moment when WT has a better simulated radar than DCS lol
Pls do more rb videos
And now everyone is doing the same thing. This is the peak of dogshit gameplay in general, its just not entertaning and satisfying anymore in my case, like when I got my first top jet I was so excited, but now I just dont even want to start the match,so the only thing I will do is just research new harrier because Ive waited for it so long and get outta this place
Just play a lower br if you don't want to BVR
@@AeroTurtle funny thing is that I spent an entire day just to understand how it should be lauched and how to dodge them by myself and I got it xD
bruh change ur keybinds
n o
HA💀play it now,bet youll say its absolutely ruined and fucking garbage
No. I still enjoy it!
still far from dcs
I see hints of the Growling Sidewinder server but that is it.
@@NuclearFalcon146 Overall yes, it's similar to the meat grinder on GS, but I'd say the fights in WT are even more meaty now.
And DCS is a simulator, WT is an arcade with a simulator flavor.
@@I_Krypton_IWT Sim falls under a long dead genre called "Simlite". Where the mechanics are realistic but how you control the planes is simplified to some degree for accessibility.
Feels like the growling sidewinder server
already nerf
