@@DisgruntledDoomer lmao I agree. its usually what happens when they're "forced" to make a video on trendy movies currently in the public discourse rather than movies that would make for a funny honest trailer
Totally agree. This was the weakest Honest Trailer I’ve ever seen. E.g., the jibe about how the multiverse needed all this explaining fell pretty flat because (a) they really didn’t spend much time explaining it and (B) knowing the background contributed massively to the fun of the film. This isn’t a knock on the Honest Trailers people though, the format just works best for movies that are very self-serious and/or pander to a specific audience and current social atmosphere, which this movie has neither of!
I do agree Stephanie Hsu did some more legwork in this movie than JLC. I think the theme of the Oscars was "comeback" and they really wanted to honor people who have worked hard and overcome challenges and "deserved" to finally be recognized. Ultimately, Stephanie Hsu has a big long career ahead of her and I'm sure plenty of directors are calling her up after that role. She'll get her chance (I hope)
This is my favorite kind of best picture winner. Meeting the drama and performances needed all wrapped up in a film where Jamie Lee Curtis acts like a sumo wrestler and stalker villain all with hot dog fingers, a security guard gets turned into a wrestler for a moment to get piledriven, butt plug trophies become a path to power, and rocks deliver one of those more poignant monologues of this year. Say what you will of the film, but never say it wasn't memorable. Also, I'd add Nomadland to that list of Oscar wins making me question things since I found that to be the least interesting of all the nominees, and I saw everyone of them in one week before.
This was an amazing movie and I'm so happy it got recognized, but it is still so weird to think that the year's best picture had a fight scene with butt stuff in it. 🤣
Thats what makes it so great the fact that that did not hamper it and it was relevant to the insanity. There was hotdog fingers and somehow that was more gross. Oooh my god . I shared Evelyns disgust

Compared something like "Your name" anime which is a better story told better, more interesting and more feeling emoted and that's with animated chracters not Oscar winning actresses.
Stephanie's character had much more to do and was more integral to the story and wholly deserved a win but no doubt JLC was also deserving. It was a joy (heh pun) to see how happy Stephanie was when Jamie got it, I mean imagine being the new kid on the block that denies a much delayed win from one of the most respected and beloved legends in the game. We all know that JLC is such a nice lady that no doubt she is sharing that award with Steph in spirit and in lifetime friendship. I am very ok with the results.

@@catwiesel_81 100% man. But while I love Hsu (so much), shes young and gorgeous and very talented. She wont have to wait till shes 50 lol. What she did earn was a life time of fans who will watch whatever she makes for 20 years. And if in 20 years I saw her on the street… Id still say “I love you Joe Joe Chubakka” lol
Hopefully James Hong will get his award soon while he’s still alive. Would hate to hear that he passed, only for the Oscars to snub him once again by not even adding him to the memoriam.
@@roygbiv9038 I dont think he’ll win an Oscar. But hopefully they give him a Lifetime Achievement like they did to Jackie Chan.
OMGGG CONGRATS ON GETTING TO DO THAT D&D TRAILER I WISH ALL TRAILERS WERE DONE LIKE THAT i swear
"is an excuse to live out your Michelle Yeoh dominatrix fetish"
Not going to lie, I am kind of jealous.🤣🤣
Full disclosure: I’m hella jealous
There are straight women with a Michelle Yeoh dominatrix fetish
He really does proves that with "Big imaginative Brain" anything's possible
Thank you for mentioning the Stephanie Hsu snub. Jaime Lee is always a wonderful person and fantastic actor, but Stephanie killed it and gets almost no recognition for it
"almost no recognition" - are you serious? Besides the Oscar nomination she has about 45 other nominations or wins for her role in EEAAO.
@@jmckendry84 oh yeah I forgot how often they put "SAG award winner" below actors in trailers....
And when I Google the movie it definitely isn't an avalanche of results for the Daniels, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Jaime Lee Curtis...and that's it
/s
This movie deserved all the awards. It's rare I walk out of a movie and think to myself "This is cinema...this is art at it's highest magnitude." I laughed, I cried, the action was top notch and the gut punch was real.
YES
TOM CRUISE!!! Yom Cruise....blasted keyboard.......
It's quite possibly the worst film I've ever tried to watch.
@@defdaz Agreed.
"art at it's highest magnitude" lmao, you obviously never seen art movie in your life... try something from Peter Greenway for example, or Andrei Tarkovskij, or just fucking Kubrick lol.
The alternate title 'Crazy Switched Asians' is so apt and hilarious 😂
Goddamit! You showed the “Laundry and Taxes” scene and it got me…yet again!
(Every frigging time, man!)
Evelyn to Waymond after the first jump: "I saw my life without you. It was beautiful." Yikes!
I was prepared for the crazy stuff in this movie. I was not prepared for the heart-wrenching mother-daughter conflict that hit way too close to home.
Wonderfully done - now I just need an EEAAO pitch meeting
That's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
@@benapeh854 Oh really?
I'm going to have to ask you to get all the way down off my back about that.
@@DaveMiller2 Well let me get off that thing
Librarian Daniel with a bit in his mouth with Michelle riding him like a bad little pony?!?!? I guess I missed that one. Hahaha! She is remarkable. I am thrilled for her, Jamie, Ke and of course Brendan. They are all gonna wheeze the juice big time and fully deserve it.
im so glad this movie got recognized. when it first came out, i was there opening week and the theater was EMPTY. i was worried this movie would just fade and eventually become a cult classic. this movie is worth every award!
It's amazing because it was hardly marketed and it was almost entirely word of mouth marketed. Which bears out in my view because I saw it 6 times in cinemas and each time dragged a new friend to see it, and they brought THEIR friends along the next times.
@@ladyreverie7027 My friends had a rule. I was not allowed to praise EEAAO at parties anymore. Apparently, I overdid it :D most of them watched and loved the movie.
That is the power of Word Of Mouth.
These days, an empty theater is almost a prerequisite for best picture nomination. Most people most years have never even heard of the movie until it wins the Oscar. Then they watch it with high expectations and realize why no one had ever heard of it.
Yes, I thought EEAAO was a terrible film. Good acting, but horrible entertainment value.
@@joshuastateham lol ok
@@joshuastateham Just looking at this trailer, it looks so incredibly dull and confusing. I have no desire to see it, and the fact it wins awards makes me even less likely to want to see it. The box office number still stink for this film.
Wow. An ad was just before this for the D&D movie that's coming out. It had *the epic voice guy!!!!!* ...there is No Way to mistake his voice. It's simply TOO EPIC!
EEAAO is back in the theaters and I'm real tempted to rewatch it on the big screen!
I'm seeing it tonight, for the 7th time in cinemas!
Stephanie Hsu not only should've won the oscar because her performance was resonating and beautiful but also because it would've riled up the theater girlies. I want a universe where Stephanie wins and all the BMC fans just start screaming CHRISTIIIIIINNNNEEEE
2:50 I’m still not over the fact that the movie made a Smash Bros. reference with that sound effect
0:32 Epic Voice Guys offical audition tape for Rick & Morty Season 7
Everything Everywhere All At Once feels like a movie that bombed at the box office but then went on to become an underground cult classic eventually gaining enough popularity through word of mouth that it retroactively defines the era in which it was made but instead it was a blockbuster out the gate
Why feel when you can Google?
@@skepticalbadger it’s a joke about the vibes it gives off
And so unusual to win all awards
No
This movie is the Multiverse Of Madness we deserved.
Was wondering when you guys were going to do this movie, but it was so worth the wait.
I rented it, got half an hour in and couldn’t stand it. Was looking forward to it too
Same. I tried three times to continue watching
I can’t be the only one who got the Dungeons and Dragons Ad with epic voice guy making it at the beginning AND end.
Watching the honest trailer of this movie just confirmed to me that I was right to skip it. It’s honestly not my genre but I admire Michelle Yeoh and am beyond pleased that she finally got an Oscar! ❤
I've been waiting for months on this trailer. I'm so glad it didn't disappoint.
Well, I'm disappointed for you! Usually these trailers are a riot, but this time they couldn't come up with anything particularly witty. Maybe the movie itself was already too goofy...
5:19 that is literally what I said when I say he was in charge of the movie
Hearing that Ke Hey was inspired to come back to acting because of Crazy Rich Asians is awesome.
Direct impact!
Just saw a trailer for Joy Ride that she’s in. Pretty excited for that movie
Awards should be given based on the merit of a performance, not to fit some "theme" of the night.
Also what challenges has JLC faced and overcome? She seems to have had a pretty consistent career over the past 45 years.
@@kjhuang constipation and irregularity that's why she had to eat all that activia
@@littlekatgc Oh I didn't know that. Professionally her career has been pretty consistent unlike Brendan Fraser's and Ke Huy Quan's.
@@mr.someoneudontkno698 Hahah indeed, I think the hotdog universe is an allegory to Evelyn's disgust toward Joy's homosexuality so once she came to understand and accept that universe and her love for Deidre, she accepted her daughter too.
"Crazy Switched Asians" caught me off guard lol
I didn't have so much fun with a movie in years. This is a gem. Just like this "starring" section. Rocket powered was genius 😂
My biggest regret is watching this masterpiece on a flight with shitty headphones. Amazing movie.
Hey I watched this on a plane too. Maybe that's why I didn't like it, apparently I'm the only one
@@Pudknuckle ive seen a few. i can't really blame you, though. even though its my favorite movie right now, i can see how some wouldn't enjoy it
I saw it in theatres, but it only lasted half a week where I live.
I watched it on a plane too. My first thought was I can appreciate it on an artistic level, but it was a bit too bizarre for me.
Similar problem: I watched on TV, in Germany in original language but without English subtitles. The voices were barely understandable. And when they spoke Chinese, hey there’s the subtitles! Crap, they are in German.
I like how this video goes from serious to absurdly comical in no time, just like the movie. 😂
Becky With the Bad Hair slayyed me!
Fun fact: "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is the most-awarded film of *all* time! It beat the record held by "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". 🤓
Thanks for the birthday present, Screen Junkies.
I love this movie SO much. I have watched it almost a dozen times. Thanks for this!
I’m SO HAPPY to see that an Honest Trailer for this was made! What an amazing way to start the day off! ❤
BRO I GOT AN AD FOR DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS WITH THE EPIC TRAILER VOICE GUY FOR THIS VIDEO
Dude hearing your dungeons and dragons trailer before this started I was like what the hell!! Props man
"You love to watch Michelle Yeoh heroically jump all over the screen." Yes. And that's all I really needed to hear.
The multiverse of madness we deserved
The movie with the strongest illustration of Chekhov's Gun.
And those were the fight coordinators acting.
This movie is so freaking incredible!!!
Literally had Deja vu with the D&D ad with his voice then the actual intro he mentions it lol
So glad you did the jab at why Stephanie Hsu lost to JLC. Love them both but cmon Steph carries this movie
Nah she was the weakest part and Ke Huy Quan carried the movie.
No, Ke Huy Quan carried the movie. His supporting actor Oscar is the only win without any doubt or competition.
No one person carried this movie. Ke Huy Quan killed it, Michelle Yeoh killed it, Stephanie Hsu killed it, JLC killed it, the directors killed it, the screenplay was awesome, the visual effects and editing were amazing. There's a reason it won all the Oscars.
0:14 Wait, isn't A24 the company that picked up Hazbin Hotel?
Its almost criminal it took this long to get a honest trailer for this movie. Im glad it came tho
In memory of Lance Reddick, please say, "McNulty, in my office, now!"
justice for Stephanie Hsu, she really nailed it and deserved that Oscar, but I guess they said "we can't have THREE Asians take home best acting awards"
The "Joy to the worlds, now you're all dead" name is really great
Week 81 of asking for Honest TV Trailer for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Really
No.
Yes
95% Empty move, with a dash of substance sprinkled on.
It's a run of the mill anime until it addresses the heart felt mom/doughter moment, so for me it's too little too late. Compared something like "Your name" anime which is a better story told better, more interesting and more feeling emoted and that's with animated chracters not Oscar winning actresses.
Should have made a special award for Hsu. She was stunning in every scene.
Best Villain should be a category.
Well, We wait to see her in upcoming film ”Joy Ride
To be honest looking back at Michelle Yeoh's career you understand that she is only one who can play this role right
The VelociPastor!!!! Do it!!
Congratulations for Everything, Everywhere All At Once and its cast for winning the Oscars 2023
