I've already lost one plant and removed it. Now the remaining two have disease and I found white fungus at the base of one plant all round the trunk. Should I remove those also?
@@HeathifyMyLife 8 months later. .. Do not be afraid of cutting, go just below a node, you can prune half of the plant. This is a great time to do it early spring, you will see new growth by fall. Any branches touching the ground you can cut the whole branch off to keep the plant from getting wet at the base when you water to help prevent black spot fungus. If you are using your Red Robin (photina)as a privacy hedge then just prune the top and then lightly on the sides. If you want it as an ornamental tree then select your (1.)thickest center branch ~ this will be your tree trunk. (2.) remove 1/3 to half of the branches working from the bottom base upwards. Step back and look at the plant from different angles to make sure you don’t cut too much off. You can always cut a little more off in the fall so keep in mind not to take off more than 1/2 in the spring because it will put on a beautiful display in the fall. I have one I planted 30 years ago that I cut into tree form. It has the most beautiful canopy of a width of 40 feet! Very easy to propagate. I have grown 2 bushes from hardwood cuttings from my tree form; you can also divide by digging out a sucker with roots and just plant elsewhere. Important to use a fungicide and just spray till the whole plant is saturated. Then do again in 2 weeks. I live in a cold wet climate with droughts in the summer. Most my issues with fungus is fall through spring. So I treat them throughout and my roses at the same times. Sorry for the book!
@luciotevah7545 I’m sorry, I don’t understand. There is no translation. I tried to explain 2 various methods to prune photina aka Red Robin. It depends if you want a hedge or tree form. Just go by the steps above and don’t overthink it too much, just step back and look from various angles often, because once you take it off you can’t add it back.
This is very helpful tips to avoid fungus, and very simple too, thanks for sharing
Thanks, my photinia is slowly recovering now.
What should i do if it’s a large photinia tree and is almost completely bare

Not sure, I would have to see it. But I cut mine back a lot and it recovered. It took a while though. Thanks for watching.
What if it's on every leaf 🍃 🤔. It will be bare . What can I do please 🙏 😔 ty
I cut mine back drastically and it took some time for it to recover but it is looking much better now. Thanks for watching the video. Hope this helps.
