  • It's a clever rental car scam by Goldcar, using your €1,100 deposit to rip-you off for around £40. They'll blame your bank and the exchange rate but it's just not true. I show you how to protect yourself.

    Thanks for taking the time to warn others. I was scammed in Malta and posted my own video on youtube about that. The thing that I'm most surprised at is how such an openingly dishonest company is still operating in many EU countries. The man in the tourist office in the airport in Malta even warned me about them when I asked him where their office was located! I'd say there's a lot of back handers to government officials going on in these countries!

      Thanks Sean, I don't really understand how the car hire industry in general is not regulated in some way and they are allowed to effectively make the rules up as they want and we as customers are at their mercy. It's become such a dirty business now. I developed an app in an attempt to clean it up. Would appreciate any feedback on it if you use it.

    Had a similar bad experience with Goldcar, they're very misleading and tell untruths...Never again! Well done for exposing them 👏👏👍

      Glad the video helped. Goldcar certainly mislead, I see many complaints online, so we must be careful of them.

    I wouldn't use these guys even if the cars were free rentals.
    It staggers me that people still use them.
    Every year I see people queuing up at their Barcelona Airport counter and I feel sorry for them.

    I got scammed exactly the same way, also at Palma Mallorca. I'm sure you also had to queue for over an hour and experienced rude staff too!

      Yes indeed! Actually, the person that served me at Goldcar has since contacted me on Facebook and told me I have no idea what I'm talking about. Terrible company! Did you get the fee back from your credit card company?

      I'm not surprised, but for that person to have done that through Facebook. That's shocking! I'm still waiting to hear back from them, but it's looking like nothing is likely to happen. I used a debit card unfortunately.

      @@lachzloyt9189 Hi Lachzlo, if you dispute it with your card company they will return the money to you. It's yet another way that GoldCar rip you off.

    Just got back from Porto and they have said I damaged the car, left untidy and did not fill up. This is a total lie and I’m sure there is a criminal element in this particular branch. Disgusting

      Hi Elyar, it's a very difficult company to work with, out to take as much money as possible rather than offer any customer service. Be aware of the other scams out there: th-cam.com/video/VTN9qH5PhK0/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_title

    Next time buy the insurance at the desk! Dont be stupid! They take from the card, because you dont have a credit card, thats a debit card! That money charged on your card its an exchange rate that your bank its charging, not the rent a car company

    • @carhireshout3944
      @carhireshout3944  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ana, I was using my credit card as shown in the video, it was not a debit card and it was 100% not the banks charge as I checked this with the bank. I disputed the charge and my bank refunded it to me and took it from Goldcar.

    Why did you choose the cheapest option? It funny when theese people come to this country.

      Hi Marlon, I'm not sure I agree with you. Just because we may choose the cheapest option, that means we should accept being ripped off and scammed? Surely it's more appropriate that these car rental companies operate honestly and transparently?
