Yeah with the singers voice gone the whole band is totally different even if the rest of the band is the same. The best part of the band is the texture of his voice imo and he’s totally lost it
This entire album. Not one bad thing about it. Been listening to it since the day it was released. Still the best album they ever did in my opinion. The end got you because on the album the transition to the next song is seamless.
Lex is like having a time machine. Watching her get into these great old songs for the first time sends me back to my youth, reacting the same way! Love ya, Lex!
The original 5 is my wheelhouse, Loved little Pete Willis, that sound! They were a straight up guitar rock band out of England, somewhere they started worrying bout chics showing up ( or lack there of) to their shows, i personally stopped listening after High & Dry, no disrespect to Phil Collens, Vivian Campbell, (saw Vivian in his first job anyway. DIO) RIP Steamin Steve Clarke
Def Leppard has some of the best ballads in the business. "Love Bites", "Two Steps Behind", "Miss you in a heartbeat" and many others. As a band, they perfected the juxtaposition of having hard rocking anthems and beautiful ballads.
I'm pretty sure when Def Leppard started, there was nobody in the band that was older than 16yrs. The early years of Def Leppard are the harder rock version. High and Dry is one of their good ones.
They were 16 when the original band started rehearsing in 1977... tho they played their first gig in 1978. It was Joe Elliott (vocals), Rick Savage (bass), Pete Willis & Steve Clark (guitars) & Tony Kenning (drums) ... Kenning quit in '78 before their demo was recorded w/ drummer Frank Noon. Rick Allen (drums) was 15 when he joined in 1979 - his parents had to sign the record contract w/ him cos he was underage...😂
Yeah I got to see them in 1980 when they were just kids i think Joe Elliot was 17 at the time they opened up for AC/DC and the Back in Black tour both groups FANTASTIC!!!! 😁🤟
I grew up with Def Leopard and I've loved them since the beginning. But what really gets my respect is that they kept and worked with their drummer, who was young and dumb at the time and got into an accident and lost one of his arms. How many big time bands have an one armed drummer? Great Respect!!!
To me, these were Def Leppard's best years. Just raw rock before they became more commercial. Thanks for the reaction. Love to see you guys doing the ballads.
On Through the Night (1980) and High and Dry (1981) were primers for what was to come in 1983. This was their first real big hit song. Then came Pyromania in 1983, one of the best hard rock albums of all time.
Finally some Def Leppard I listened to. On through the night etc. loved it but I was more of a Y and T and Sammy Hagar guy Born in in S.F. Local stuff.
Too bad nobody ever reacts to the next song after this called "Switch 625", which is like a natural instrumental outro to this song. It rocks, and in my opinion, the 2 songs should always be played together.
I think this is their best song. period. That sound in the ending is the beginning of the next song on the album, it's a full instrumental called switch 625. You should check it out, it's kick ass. Infact the entire the entire album is kick ass. The album is called high n dry
LEX IS SUCH A HARD ROCKER AT HEART. SHE REALLY GETS INTO THE GOOD STUFF, PROOF IT'S IN HER SOUL. BRAD ON THE OTHER HAND IS THE COOL, CALM AND COLLECTED CONTROL KING. The best reaction duo on the Tubes. The best I tells ya. The Best!
Was a teenager and just suffered my first heartbreak and this song came on the radio, the first Def Leppard song I ever heard and still my favorite from them. This song meant a lot to me.
When they recorded the On Through the Night album the drummer was only 15 years old, I still remember high school going to their first concert promoting album on through the night and the big hit was( Rock Brigade) Damn you guys got to do Rock Brigade🙏🙏🙏🙏
You guys really ought to check out the whole High"N"Dry Album... Absolutely a Masterpiece!! These guys have been together since they were teenagers, and also,When their Drummer(Rick Allen),had a terrible automobile accident which resulted in the worst possible outcome .. They,as a Brotherhood elected to wait for their Brother to learn how to play Drums again in his own time ... They Still Kick Ass Live,I've seen them a few times and have Never been Disappointed!!
I saw them in concert way back in the day, but also so them a few years ago with my son. The highlight, we looked at each other hand high fived, was when they played this, and went right into "Switch 625". 😎
Oh, I’d love to take Brad and Lex to see Def Leppard live! It’s such an amazing experience to see these guys, now in their late 50’s/early 60’s, still killing on stage to thousands of fans, young and old!
I'm going to post this again. In 1980 I went to the Georgia Jam at Road Atlanta. Def Leppard was the opening band and they were all teenagers. Talk about a n awesome group, not long after their first album came out. The other bands that day were Scorpion, Pat Travers Band, Molly Hatchet,Ted Nugent, good thing it was outdoors for they were all loud, very loud, Power Rock man , 😃🥃🤪 🎸📢😵. Rock and Roll I was twenty one then and that's one day I can never forget. It was July fourth and the temperature was 105 degrees very hot 🥵, but never regretted it. The cost was $12.00, that seems like a lot back then , just a drop in a bucket now . Keep on rocking brothers and sisters ✌️ and 🤘 Brother Gary
Those transitions were pretty standard for an 80's power ballad. That cool bass that was playing at the end was the lead-in to the next song on the album.
This band was my first favorite band and my first concert when I was about 7. Still love them 22 years later! I still have all but about 3 of their albums in my collection! Love Def Leppard!
As a 7th grader in '82 I used to play this song on my cheap boombox and play my guitar (tennis racket) in front of my mom and dads full length mirror. I (along with my def leppard bandmates) was a rock god.
This had really innovative leads, chromatically complex, beautiful and haunting. For a hard rock band, they know a lot about music theory in composition. ❤
Saw them live the first time they came to US, at an old converted bingo hall in Dallas, can't remember who they opened for, but they were great and young! Saw them 2 more times when they were HUGE and they always put on a show!
Def Leppard in 1981, when they had both original guitarists and the drummer had two arms. On the album this song fades into a killer instrumental track called Switch 625. This album also has one of their most underrated songs, Let It Go.
You guys are so cool. Seeing you react to songs from long ago. As a guitarist it's cool playing songs I listened to. Was in the army in 83 and listened to def Leppard, Dio, ratt, halen, night ranger.
Just came across your page...and omg I Love it! I love your enthusiasm and the young lady is so cute... Did you know there drummer lost an arm and can still play? Def Leppard is such a great band you should see them in concert.
Omigosh, Brad's description of Lexi's complicated music!😆 Sounded like Wayne & Garth with their air guitar! Y'all are awesome; Brad is digging the tunes , & Lex is jamming!
That ending was actually the beginning of the next song "Switch 625" which is instrumental. When I heard it begin I was hoping they'd let it run through...
Awesome reaction to a great song RIP!Steve Clark with that solo but dang y'all should have continued the next song which it leads into called switch 325 BAD ASS jam🤟
Love your channel!!! I like how Lex is feelin the music and Brad seems subdued but is really disecting the lyrics to find the core meanings of songs (both natural producers)!
Saw them for the 1st time in 1981. They opened for Ozzy and the great Randy Rhoads in Tampa. Best concert I've ever been to. Favorite album because it was just raw
That wasn't the ending Lex. That was the beginning of "Switch Six Twenty-five", an instrumental. The two songs were always played in tandem on the radio back in the day.
High-N-Dry is by far their best album. I saw them open up for Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads in Sep. '81 on their H-N-D tour. 🤘 EDIT: I think no member of DL was older than 20 when H-N-D was recorded.
Early Def Leppard is their best stuff!
Loved that you both were feelin' it. Song is so friggin' good. Early Def Leppard sounds nearly as good today as it did 40 years ago. Never gets old.
It's interesting, there were dozens, maybe hundreds of cookie cutter bands at this time. But nobody sounded like Def Lep.
Nearly as good? It's better if anything. Today's stuff is pure crap.
The dynamic of Steve Clark and Pete Willis was awesome.
Yeah with the singers voice gone the whole band is totally different even if the rest of the band is the same. The best part of the band is the texture of his voice imo and he’s totally lost it
I totally agree.
This entire album. Not one bad thing about it. Been listening to it since the day it was released. Still the best album they ever did in my opinion.
The end got you because on the album the transition to the next song is seamless.
Pyromania was really good too
Wasn't that the transition to the amazing Steve Clark guitar piece?
@@judithrunyon186 Yes. It's "Switch 625".
Their best album by far!
Ditto...all of it.
Lex is like having a time machine. Watching her get into these great old songs for the first time sends me back to my youth, reacting the same way!
Love ya, Lex!
Yes! I love rediscovering these songs with her. A new set of ears for me.
Not fair Brad gets to keep her. I wish she was my gf in 1995. We'd had so much fun!
@@spackle9999 lol, Lex has a rock'n'roll heart....she appreciates all the good material they cover
Quintessential Def Leppard. Classic, iconic and legendary.
Yes old Def Leppard you guys definitely need to listen to more of them. They're such an unbelievable band live
That wasn't the end of the song
They're still touring too... Saw them Abt 3 yrs ago at the O2
Def Leppard has some of the best ballads in the business. "Love Bites", "Two Steps Behind", "Miss you in a heartbeat" and many others.
As a band, they perfected the juxtaposition of having hard rocking anthems and beautiful ballads.
Hysteria
I’m an old school Def Leppard fan but I have to admit that Love Bites is right up with he best of them
Love and affection is one of my favorites
This is my favorite Def Leppard song. The early years are by far the best. Thx for reacting to this song.
I'm pretty sure when Def Leppard started, there was nobody in the band that was older than 16yrs. The early years of Def Leppard are the harder rock version. High and Dry is one of their good ones.

@@jimmyperez3911 Ya i saw the Back in Black tour, I believe it was Leppard , Billy Squire and AC/DC ...Great show
You guys bring back HS and college memories for me every single day. Long live classic rock and hair bands!
Indeed, and the concert tickets were around 17.00. Lol
So true.
@@lda1970 One of the first concerts I ever went to was Stxy in 1977, tickets were $7 for General Admission. Crazy
That ending goes into the next song Switch 625, which is also awesome, as is the whole High 'N' Dry album.
Always highly recommended to listen to both together 🤘
I love how Brad is so reserved and methodical in his listening and Lex is going crazy and getting pumped.
Right lmao 🤣
I grew up with Def Leopard and I've loved them since the beginning. But what really gets my respect is that they kept and worked with their drummer, who was young and dumb at the time and got into an accident and lost one of his arms. How many big time bands have an one armed drummer?
Great Respect!!!
The "interesting ending" was the beginning of 'Switch 625' that immediately follows Heartbreak, which is an excellent instrumental in itself.
They ALMOST found out for themselves.
Favorite def leppard song
51 years young and still rockin to this song just like Lex...powerful stuff isn't it great job!
To me, these were Def Leppard's best years. Just raw rock before they became more commercial. Thanks for the reaction. Love to see you guys doing the ballads.
One of their best songs, the harmonies the high notes, 🔥 🔥
I love this song so freaking much! Def Leppard is my favorite 80’s band. I loved watching this reaction live.
On Through the Night (1980) and High and Dry (1981) were primers for what was to come in 1983. This was their first real big hit song. Then came Pyromania in 1983, one of the best hard rock albums of all time.
Couldn't agree more. Those three should be in every rock fan's collection. Pyromania was a masterful album.
All great, although High and Dry was my rocking fave.
Finally some Def Leppard I listened to. On through the night etc. loved it but I was more of a Y and T and Sammy Hagar guy Born in in S.F. Local stuff.
Hands Down The Very Best Leppard Song-
Not even close!!
Loves me some High and Dry too though
@@humboldtharry1289 yes sir!!
You just gotta love Lex's "oooh's" they're so spontaneous and full of energy jaja you guys are great, keep it up !
That ending segways into another great song Switch 625....a nice instrumental
They need to be played together to get the full effect.
Too bad nobody ever reacts to the next song after this called "Switch 625", which is like a natural instrumental outro to this song. It rocks, and in my opinion, the 2 songs should always be played together.
Yes definitely my dude.
Totally agree!
Agreed, the first couple of notes played and I was psyched, then it cut off and I was sad
Absolutely need to played together!
Well… that’s what the band thinks. Joe gets a vocal break, so may be the reason, but always played back to back on tour.
I think this is their best song. period.
That sound in the ending is the beginning of the next song on the album, it's a full instrumental called switch 625. You should check it out, it's kick ass. Infact the entire the entire album is kick ass.
The album is called high n dry
Def Leppard was a staple back in the 80s. Huge, huge band back in the day. All over radio and MTV. Great band.
Brad's coming around to the ballads!!!!! Use to listen to this is junior high, LOVE IT!!
The Best!
Old Def Leppard is the best.... "Let it go" and " Mirror Mirror" are great songs.
This is my favorite Def Leppard song
Was a teenager and just suffered my first heartbreak and this song came on the radio, the first Def Leppard song I ever heard and still my favorite from them. This song meant a lot to me.
Great song! Early Def Leppard..👍🔥🔥🔥

This song is a hard rock masterpiece.
The ending of this rolled right into the next song. I think it was called Switch 625, an instrumental.

Def Leppard in 1981, when they had both original guitarists and the drummer had two arms.

That early Def Leppard was really good. High and dry is a really great album
THIS has always been one of my favorite DL songs !!!! Beautiful ❤️ !!! Awesome reaction, guys ! Thank you 😊.
That wasn't the ending Lex. That was the beginning of "Switch Six Twenty-five", an instrumental. The two songs were always played in tandem on the radio back in the day.
Def Leppard has so many good jams
I remember thier first U.S. tour in 1980. They opened up for Black Sabbath. It was such a good for rock.

High-N-Dry is by far their best album. I saw them open up for Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads in Sep. '81 on their H-N-D tour. 🤘

I agree high n dry is their best album but damn dude that would have been soo cool to see, especially with Randy,
That and On Through the Night. Best 2 records, then they sold out after Pyromania.
If they were even 19. I think the bass player was the oldest.
I forgot how good this song was. THANK YOU!
