    I use a rope runner pro, but I found putting a chest tether on really helps keep just about any ascender up and from collapsing with no tension on the rope. I'm not sure about the uniscender though.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah the tether is the way to go when you want to hold it ... I should probably lengthen mine a bit as I've noticed it's a bit tight

  • @GinaKayLandis
    @GinaKayLandis ปีที่แล้ว

    Good morning Spencer! Glad to see a new video!
    While you were doing the hemlock thing, a couple times I said "don't cut your line!" but I don't think you heard me 😂
    I bet you could rig up a pully type lifter for those big rounds to get pulled up into the Monster. Might be a lot of work and barely worth it, but could help save your musculature from strain as life goes on.
    Always interesting, particularly with sketchy trees! That dead one at the end had quite the bend in it, plus into those lines - man! But you handled it like a champ!
    Yeah the line that has the thingie that slips down? I would be annoyed but maybe the slippage is a built in, on purpose factor? Interested in the detail on that.
    Have a great day! Thanks again :)

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I was looking over the video I thought to myself "The saw is too close to that line!" a few more inches of separation would be a good thing. Always good hearing from ya! :)

  • @Sethhaun78
    @Sethhaun78 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the uni,is best to use smaller ropes first then bigger as it wears at the wear points .was all happy when i bought mine liked the design and have it like you with Mumford drum kit but don't like it on single rope.guna get akimbo..I 🤔

  • @Johnnyreengo
    @Johnnyreengo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you like the unicender, and have you experienced the locked descent issue with the new drum kit? Also, have you considered a portable capstan winch? You could easily drag logs right into your dump trailer.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The unicender is pretty good and I use it more and more now that I've figured out a rope that it will run on safely. Gotta pair it with the right rope. On complex climbs I still prefer the RRP though. Those winches are pretty cool but I tend to just rely on the winch on my truck these days ... or my mini doodle bug machine. The mini is great for hauling and moving stuff with a chain
