Eric bullying lower rating opponents feels like me, and adult, playing judo with youngsters. Although I am not as merciless. At the end of the video the vibe was a bit like " I broke both his legs, but all in all it was nice to see him crawling and trying to get up. He put up a good fight." I was laughing ! Cheers, Eric, and have a nice day everyone.
I can't wait for the next episode to arrive. I like the good manner how Eric takes seriously his oponents who - let's be honest - play on a very basic level and often don't know what they are doing. Real gentleman.
This 100%, it's so nice to see a master who doesn't feel like it is necessary to berate weaker players. I'm only a casual player and a few weeks ago didn't know who Eric Rosen was but now I'm just captivated by this series and his wholesome approach to the games.
That last game was straight up gruesome, thanks for making us mortals understand every attacking idea with such level of detail, almost feels as if I could think of those moves (I can't!)
I love all your videos. Have learned so much from you. My go to openings are Ponziani with white and Stafford Gambit with black. Thanks so much Eric. You are a virtual mentor to so many like me ❤
Goes to show how once you develop board vision and a habit of checking for tactical danger on each candidate move, then the simple strategic decisions (bishops vs knight with open center) really pay off.
I don't know about you chess experts, but I learn more from this than any other teacher, by seeing the opponents mistakes. I dont learn much from masters who are just too advanced for me.
I really like these Speedruns which, I think, are quite instructive, even for strong players. It would be interesting to see an advanced version of this against a stronger opponent, say 2000ish. That might work better with a longer time such as (20, 0) to allow more time for explanation of strategy.
@@Kaserbeam Yes, I realise that, but it will take a long time before he meets strong opposition, where the strategic discussion is at a more advanced level. Also, I think in a more advanced game, a longer time than 10 minutes would give Eric more scope to explain.
I can't begin to express how much I love this series. Every video feels like its two minutes long. Just the way you go through it and explain things. Keep it up!
below 1800 or so, learning the two knights is just free ELO. It's a good response to the Caro at any level, but against intermediate opponents you can often get a completely winning position out of the opening.
I Think I'm addicted to watching this speed run and absolutely love the explanations you give for every move. Is there a way og getting the pgn to the games without having to write them down whilst watching?
In game 1, after Bf4, I was looking at Black playing Nxe4, Qxe4 Qxb2, Rb1 Qxc3. The initial capture of the knight allows Black to grab the extra pawn. Black can follow up with Nf6, gaining a tempo by making White move the queen. If Black instead followed Qxe4 with Nf6 first, White can relocate the queen to protect the b pawn, as on c2.
13:33 ha idk why but I also had the urge to play that move and blunder the second rook haha, I guess noobs think alike (even though I'm about 200 lower rated than your opponent)
The last game gave me heart palpitations. I would have wanted to cash in immediately with winning the exchange, but I guess that's why I'm not a chess master
I have a question: At 18:24, why did you not consider Nd4, attacking the pinned knight? My analysis would be if Nxd4, Bxd1, Kxd1, exd4, winning the exchange. Alternatively, if white does not move the knight, Nxf3, gxf3, Bxf3 forking the rooks looks very good to me. If white defends the knight with the queen, we can exchange the dark-squared bishop to force it to move again. Is my analysis correct, or am I missing something?
One bit of feedback (after watching a lot of Danya's speedruns), I'd encourage you to try to explain a lot of the latent ideas for both sides roughly at the level you are during the speedrun. Currently it sometimes feels more like you're explaining why your moves are crushing these newer players, rather than "how can I as a newer player find the winning strategy in XYZ position". Thanks for the content!
Its more an honor than a pleasure when it comes to observing Rosen instruct us. Seriously sharp hooter fell in the frying pan. Showed heart that first game.
I won a really nice game with the 4 knights bishop c4 where after takes takes pawn fork instead of queen d5 forking both I played queen g5 skewering the bishop and knight and attacking the pawn on g2. The game continued bishop took my knight on c6. Pawn recaptured and knight jumped to c6 to take my pawn. I captured on g2, rook g1 attacking my queen then bishop g4 check and he resigned after pawn push and taking with bishop
Following your channel is beginning to pay off. In this episode I was able to see two moves you played before you made the move. In future episodes the goal is to either increase the frequency the prediction of your moves or string two or more moves. Thanks for sharing.
Game 2 question: Why not attack white queen with black square bishop, defended by c6 knight instead of defending pawn structure with queen and blocking bishop?
Thanks for the speedrun, enjoying it. I would appreciate if you could match your room and clothing theme a bit darker to avoid the sharp white and black contrast. It would make it more pleasant on the eye. As an example, I like the scene setup of youtuber @t3dotgg
Last game really shows why beginners shouldn't play things like the Modern and Pirc. The only way to win with those openings is to counterattack, but it's very easy to get completely tied up and get yourself close to zugzwang with 32 pieces still on the board.

Game 2 question: Why not attack white queen with black square bishop, defended by c6 knight instead of defending pawn structure with queen and blocking bishop?
Any guesses on when Erick will take his first loss on the speedrun? I'll go for game 115
He's already an IM often performing at GM level. So the question should be when we see the first draw
I can't see him losing to anyone below 1900. Assuming he does up 100 rating points every 20 games, that would mean... at least 180 more games.
I'd doubt he'll draw to anyone below 2100. My take is he'll draw on game 285(?
