  • Today, we explored Kyoto, Japan’s former capital. The name "Kyoto" itself translates to "Capital City," a fitting name for a place as ancient as it is captivating, filled with centuries-old temples, traditional tea houses, and scenic gardens. After a wonderful time in Hakone, we took the Shinkansen to Kyoto. With clear skies, Mount Fuji treated us to a breathtaking view, and the lush greenery and rice fields glowed under the sun’s warm light.
Upon arrival, we headed straight to Nishiki Market-known as Kyoto’s Kitchen-a lively marketplace where locals and tourists alike come to shop, eat, drink, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere. With full stomachs, we set off for some temple hopping.
Our first stop was Kennin-ji, Kyoto’s oldest Zen Buddhist temple, where the ceiling features an iconic twin dragon painting, and screen paintings depict the Wind and Thunder Gods. The temple’s garden embodies wabi-sabi, a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. Autumn truly is one of the best times to visit the temples, as the foliage bursts into blazing colors.
Next, we visited Higashi Hongan-ji, affectionately called O-hi-ga-shi-san, or the Honorable Mr. East. Although not a UNESCO site, Higashi Hongan-ji remains a significant Buddhist temple, valued for its architectural grandeur, historical significance, spiritual influence, and cultural legacy. During its original construction, real human hair ropes were used to transport and hoist massive beams.
Right next door to the west stands Nishi Hongan-ji, or O-nis-san, the Honorable Mr. West. Nishi Hongan-ji is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its broader impact on Japanese culture and religion.
As night approached, we made our way to the bustling Shijō-dōri (4th Avenue) in the historic Gion district. There, beautifully illuminated by traditional Japanese lanterns, stood Yasaka-jinja, a Shinto shrine once known as Gion Shrine.
Feeling tired and hungry, we returned to Kyoto Station and caught a glimpse of Kyoto Tower, the city’s tallest structure. This area is home to several excellent eateries, and tonight, we opted for teishoku-a set menu of Japanese dishes. As always, we enjoy sharing our experiences and hope you’ll enjoy this video. Thank you, and good night.

I like the idea here. a non-robotic voiceover would be great. Audiences love hearing authentic voices :)

Yes, I agree with you, but I tried, and it didn’t turn out well. The reception was choppy. I’m not very tech-savvy and am still learning. Anyway, thank you so much for visiting! 😊
