A tip I've developed from going to drama school is this: If you feel stuck inside your head/thoughts/overthinking/over stressing, look around you and actually see what's surrounding you and name it in your head. Eg. tree, book, footpath, light switch. I find this really gets me out of my head and into the present moment.
Mindfulness is so important. It's so easy to go through life in a daydream state and not being truly present. We miss out on so much. As a chronic day dreamer this is really something I want to work on! Great tips! Putting your phone in airplane mode is a great idea. I use to be obsessed with my phone and I lost it over a year ago and have never tried to replace it since. You feel so much lighter when you unplug, losing my phone is something I'm really grateful for.
I love all of those suggestions! I find it super interesting that so many people are discovering the benefits of meditation recently. As a Christian I take time every day to pray and often begin with just being silent. Being still and then just verbalising my thoughts and what is on my heart to God is such a great way of starting the day for me.
I thought I was alone- I have been doing what you mostly mentioned in the video and I don't and never regret on clicking into your videos and just watching them because every time i do watch one of your videos, I realize that I am never alone in the decisions I've made and actions I've done to better myself. I've been nodding my head as you mentioned different points and thank you so much for sharing such a positive vibe here. I know I'm just a stranger but I'm really grateful to have crossed your channel. 🙌💚💜😊
This could not have come at a better time for me. Immediately after watching this yesterday I downloaded Moment, this morning I went to the gym for the first time in nearly 3 months (not yoga, but still an anxiety-reducing dose of physical activity!) and just finished doing a meditation podcast--I feel like a completely different person now. I'm hopeful that I can keep up this momentum to finding myself again after becoming lost in a slew on social media and online distractions. Thank you so SO much for posting this video!! It was basically the sign I needed that I really needed to do some serious repair in my mental state. I'm so grateful for your videos, Caitlin! You really are inspiring. :)
Yay, great suggestions! I've been trying to pleasure read more as well. An easy tip I have for mindfulness along the lines of stress-relief is belly breathing. You close your eyes and inhale through your nose to fill your belly with air for 5 seconds, then you exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds. Do that 4-5 times when you're feeling overwhelmed, and it leaves you much more grounded and ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead. I like it because you can do this in public, and it's like a mini meditation break!
Oooh I like this video. I've been meaning to be more mindful in my day to day life! I've found that sitting in the car in silence whenever I'm driving has also been a really good way of me to focus and think. It's like shower thoughts :) Also watercolour brush lettering has been really fun and calming every now and then too :)
I absolutely agree with everything on this video, it is so important to dedicate time to ourselves only! I have never practiced yoga but I really hope I get into it, some others I actually incorporate quite often into my routine. I'd love more of these videos xx
I love your videos, I started being a vegan just a few months ago and your videos help me with everything that it's happening in my life, thank u cait💓
Hi Caitlin! So can I just say that's I love watching your videos! You're such a big inspiration on me for making my way to become vegan. This video also helped me so much. I am a freshman at high school so my life is so busy, because of that I am always upset and stressed over sports and school work. This video I think is what I needed! Thankyou so much:)
What a great video Caitlin, thank you! This is definitely an issue I struggle with, being focused, being Mindful! I surely will try some of these tips! Especially wanting to try the Journaling, I want to find the 5 yr and 5 minute journals.
A few of these I already do and totally agree on, but you gave me some wonderful new ideas to try out too! The common theme I find is just about anything that makes me back away from the electronics😁
Bullet journal, classical music, colouring, baking, gardening (if you like that, I don't but it has the same positive benefits as baking they say), origami. (Anything analogue that makes you create something will do honestly.) And brushing teeth, a lot of people are really quick with that. Don't, take your time especially before going to bed. Let it be a part of your calming down ritual before sleep. Oh and singing and dancing of course!! Valerian herbal tea is awesome too if you have trouble winding down. Yer mindfulness, it's actually part of my therapy, does that make me an expert? ;) :P
You've got an awesome presence to yourself when speaking and I do agree on the social media time separation. What do you gain from being fully vegan though?
Awesome perspectives! Mindfulness is so valuable - I discuss it in the last video on my channel also in a parenting context; I hope our videos inspire people to be mindful! Just subscribed to your channel too.
hey caitlin, im not a very active youtuber, although i watch your videos alottt and find you so inspirational. anyway i cant find the video where you talked about your bullet journel? and i was wondering where i could get on from? if you dont reply thats okay i dont expect you to :))
Please do a very basic beginners yoga, I've always wanted to start but lose motivation bc I can't keep up with the instructors in classes or online videos
I do meditate but sometimes it gets HARD to be aware. In a session or not. I think just practicing can do a lot in terms of mindfulness. It's a whole life process. Thanks for the tips. You're pretty btw Kiss me
Most things that train the body or mind should be done at least twice every week to maintain your current level, more often to increase your skill. Meditation tho is something you can do anywhere, even while standing in the check out line doing groceries. Or maybe that's just me day dreaming all the time, who knows :P
I try to do it whenever I have time...it's harder during the week because of school. I do try to be as meditative as possible during my daily yoga practice as well x
That is such a risky tip to put your phone in airplane mode... If there is an emergency and your loved ones can't get a hold of you, that could be tragic.
