  • This tutorial is part of our Trainz route building tutorial series using TRS19. This series is dedicated to covering as many of the route and session creation tools available in the surveyor as possible, and how to use them.
    In episode 14 we continue with Navigation Point/Markers, and delve into AI Trains and Driver Commands.

    These have been brilliant. Thank you. I guessing you can't put a message in the middle of the screen because it would hide whether the game is paused or not.

      That's the best reasoning I've come up with.

    How to make automatic junction switch / signal switch???

    • @Sharadise
      @Sharadise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this comment until now.
      In driver you can either set junctions manually (by clicking on them in the world, or by clicking on them in the map view), or you can set them via the Set Junctions session rule, or by using interlocking towers (which I've not really used yet).
      AI trains will set their own junctions if you tell them to Drive or Navigate to a specific destination (such as an industry or trackmark). Using the Set Junctions session rule you are able to set which junctions can be switched by the player and or AI trains.
      If this does not answer your question, can you please elaborate on what exactly you mean by "automatic junction switch / signal switch"?

    I have both key trs2019 and the new one train plus 22 and all the screens that are showing driver commands I cannot find on either one of them

      Are you sure you're looking for them in surveyor and not driver?

    When I switch to driver the commands disappear.

    • @Sharadise
      @Sharadise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you explain the process of what you did step by step?
      [example: 1) Added driver commands in the drivers session rule. 2) Entered quick-drive from surveyor. 3) Switched to the driver in question. 4) The commands are gone.]
      Also, if by 'commands' you indeed mean driver commands, what driver commands did you use exactly (and in what order)?

      @@Sharadise I've gotten a new session to work. However the broken session had, naviagte to station, unload, navigate to station, unload, run around train, navigate back to first station and repeat.
      If I input these commands in that same order while in driver mode it works. Mostly.
      A second engine was told to, couple to coaches, procede to a station adjacent to the originao trains forst stop. And wait for it. Then once it hits a trigger, it loads passengers, and procedes to a station and just ends there.
      This engine also had commands disappear.
      With the working session I still have issues such as a steam engine decoupling its tender when it runs around and the other engine stops not even close to the station. I assumed its stuck but no.
      They are third party content and someone said that could be a factor.
      My fix was apparently removing load and unload commands

      @@lindaunderling4637 Interesting...
      To fix the run around train issue, I would suggest to use the decouple at command to manually decouple after the tender, and then using go via commands to tell the loco to move to the other side of the train, and then finally a couple command to couple to the other side of the train.
      You will unfortunately find that there are many cases like this, where you have to hand-hold the AI to get it to work like you want.
      As for the commands disappearing, there are a few things I can think of off the top of my head that may be connected (assuming you didn't just forget to save or something):
      1) Did you go into the surveyor from quick-drive to set the commands (this can cause issues, I would suggest going into the main menu, and then into the surveyor)?
      2) Perhaps the 'Remove all existing drivers first' and 'Generate new drivers for empty trains' checkboxes in the Driver Setup session rule are connected?
      3) When coupling to another train that also has a driver, only one will remain. The other one (and its commands) will be removed. I am unsure how the game determines which one is kept.
      The thing about AI trains in Trainz is that they often don't work like you expect them to, so this usually means a lot of trial and error.
      When testing sessions I would recommend you enable the debug features (in-game settings > general settings), which allows you to fast forward time in driver by holding down shift. Although you do need to be careful when using this, as trains may derail or miss triggering triggers while fast forwarding.
      If you are experiencing further issues you can also try asking in the official Trainz discord.
      I hope this helps.

    Can you have a ai train shunt?

    • @Sharadise
      @Sharadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can, using the various couple and decouple driver commands. However dealing with the trainz AI in this way can get a bit fiddly and frustrating, in my experience. But it is doable.

    • @raysyndrome7209
      @raysyndrome7209 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sharadise wait your telling me that there's more than one type of coupling commands? Cause I've been trying to use the driver setup and it always greys out the decouple command. (Though I know what you mean by fiddly tho. Especially when the you tell it to just go back and forth and it ends up causing a jam on a hill

    • @Sharadise
      @Sharadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raysyndrome7209 Yeah, I think the normal decouple command is broken in the later versions of trainz.
      I would suggest using the "UnCouplezFrom" driver command from the DLS. It takes the index of the car to uncouple.

    • @Sharadise
      @Sharadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few more uncouple commands out there I think, but that's the one I've used.
