    thanks for this super informative video! I am trying to disconnect the power unit from the midsection so that I can replace my cracked driveshaft housing. But after removing the 6 bolts like the service manual said, the power unit won't budge and not loose at all. Any ideas?

    Nicely done. Would have been cool to see it run after the install.

    Thanks for video, you are really good mechanic, so fast you complete engine, any way if iam correct you forget to put back cabel of shaft speed sensor.
    Please can i ask..petrol should mix with oil before it goes to cylinder from where is coming 🤔 and also what is that black pipe going to carburetor near choke? Thank you

    Hey man, I have the same motor. When I took the dipstick out to check the level, the engine oil went to lower unit. What would cause that?

      @@NawidPiracha yes. i think it was the sealant that kept it stuck. made sure to lift from all angles equally up and pried it lightyl with a dull screwdriver. hope this helps

    excellent video! I have a 2016 5hp merc 4 stroke and have milky oil coming out of shaft joint by exhaust. Am I correct that this would more than likely be coming from bad seals in the lower unit? Are there any gaskets on the vertical shaft covers that may leak? Thanks! The oil in the motor looks fine.

    Hello excuse me... But where is the thermostat on this motor?? Thank you.

    • @DL101ca
      @DL101ca 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude its a simple one cylinder engine what thermostat are you talking about ? There's an impeller shooting water through the block constantly while the engine is running.

    what is it the first component that you tuch? And why my engine after some weeks of stop doesen't start? can i use starter spry? thanks a lot!!!

    • @tomfromtacomas7249
      @tomfromtacomas7249 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first component he touched is the fuel pump
      The reason most outboard motors and other small engines don’t run after sitting for a while is the carburetor gets gummed up. You should remove and clean out the carburetor if an engine doesn’t start.
      Yes you can spray some starter fluid in the inlet to the carburetor and if the engine starts then your problem is either the carburetor most likely or the fuel pump

    Looks like a Tohatsu motor in that Mercury. Made in China by a Japanese Manufacturer sold under an American brand.. lol.

      Guy, it's virtually impossible to build anything today without using imported parts. Your electronics (computers, etc), for example, are literally filled with foreign parts.
