When he is talking about the others like with Michael or Gabriel he might emphasize the word archangel but it said as a technical title only a reference to their power level he doesn’t actually think of them as true angels.
Crowley did EXACTLY that. They spoke of it in both season 1 & 2. He asked too many questions. He wanted to know “why” they were doing things a certain way. Crowley had a problem w God drowning innocent children, he had a problem w God allowing a good man to get punished and killed for trying to spread the word “be kind to one another”, he had a problem w God making a bet w the devil that Job was only being pious bc he had so many provisions so God allowed all of Jobs possessions to be taken away - once again, including his innocent children - just to prove to the devil that Job was worshiping her simply bc she was God an d not bc of what she could give him and then, afterwards, as a “reward “ job and his wife would receive back everything twofold, including the kids (even tho the wife was what, 57?) and now expected to have seven kids had Crowley not been there to save the three that already existed and not let them be killed, Crowley had a problem with God or just Heaven causing the apocalypse simply bc they could (hell as well at this point) but hell doing something bad isn’t odd, Heaven doing so SHOULD BE. Heaven still wanted the apocalypse to continue when there was no need simply bc the angels wished to fight (to hell w the causualities) and Crowley definitely had a problem. W Heaven deciding that Aziraphale s punish,ent should be death by the fire of hell. Crowley felt that there was really no distinction that he could see between Heaven and hell and he only felt comfortable on earth. Aziraphale, for no,reason to,speak of, continued to th\ink of |heav\en as the “good,guys”. Speaking of not really reflecting on ppl’s actions. 😮😮😮

They have a lot of in common after all. I would probably oppose them to Heaven&Hell instead. Secondly, I agree that Crowley is very self-aware of his surroundings, insightful i would say. Through his thoughts we can see criticism on regilion ideas that go against empathy, logic, humanity, etc. On the contrary, Azi is really pure, naive. He isn’t dumb or less observant (which is stated by Crowley himself btw), and we see that in this scene (and later on more obviously). Though he could be punished by God, though its against rules, he did what he truly believed is good. Azi is embodiment of what being angel(or “good”) really means: being compassionate, kind, altruistic. And that’s what Crowley loves about him, imho. They complement each other a lot. Azi’s drawback is that he is too much of a “nice guy”, too naive, so he believes he can make it work, though we know that heaven not play by the rules.

And he believed that bet himself and Crowley, they could make the difference that would fix all the problems that existed up in Heaven. But that showed a fundamental lack of communication between A and C. Bc while Az still believed in what I wrote, he somehow didn’t truly believe or understand Crowley’s unwavering hatred for going back to EITHER side of the eternal conflict. While he knew C didn’t want to return to hell, he honestly didn’t see C didn’t wish to,return to Heaven either and if Metatron wasn’t waiting in the background for Aziraphale to follow him, they might have had an opportunity to work out the depth of misunderstanding that stood between them and THEN decide what Aziraphale should do. But Aziraphale wasn’t given time to have such a conversation w Crowley. Just a fairly quick “all in” declaration of love that Crowley honestly believed should have won the argument straight up, and he wasn’t given the opportunity either to know why that wasn’t so. And that’s where the audience was left at the end of season two. Horrifically frustrating!!!
