I've been planning to start a business in Japan and now i see this video! I find it really helpful, and I'll definitely watch your other videos, sir! Arigato gozaimasu!
I’ve just found your channel today after making the mistake of giving out too much information on my plan to move to Japan. Basically I told my mom who discussed it with her coworker who lived there as a student with no money in student housing and I tried to tell my mom that her experience will be much different than mine of a 43 yr old who’s been learning Japanese for two years and working for a financial institution for ten years with a location in Tokyo and Osaka. I explained I’m also a minimalist who sleeps on a Japanese futon and have less than 150 items, I’m extremely frugal so my spending habits are nothing like that of someone who was going out and eating out every day. However that being said I am doing my due diligence to appease my mother and help my own anxiety that I will be prepared to move from the U.S. I will be selling my home and have savings like you have suggested. My main concerns were my visa and housing but after watching a few of your videos I feel better and I believe my job will help me with them both. I will find out more in January. 🙌🏼
Sounds like a great plan. You’ll find that you can have an excellent quality of life in Japan. Best of luck! And thank you for finding value in my videos, I appreciate it.
I currently living in one of the best country in the world for 17 years Denmark 🇩🇰, bit i need some change, therefore im planning to move to japan. I have visited Japan 8 times and love the country. Im looking forward to moving but not until i purchase my home and buy a car before finally moving. Will be done in the next 2 years.
Inkans are so silly. I got mine from an automated inkan making machine on the 2nd floor of a Don Quixote LUL. I'm not a business owner, but I did open my bank account and do everything else with that inkan. The machine basically just comes up with a menu after you type your name in like, "These are all the kanji that could kind of sound like your name." Then you just pick one that looks cool, wait a few minutes, and you have an inkan.
You are an absolute superstar to make it work in Japan. You are also the anomaly. Great video with great information. But there is also a ton missing. You make it sound simplistic but really, it couldnt be further from the truth 99.9% wouldnt even survive here.
I get it. And it is true, it can be hell for many. But that’s why I am doing this, to try and help others succeed and save them some of the struggles you and I have had to go through. All the best ✊🏻 and thanks for the feedback!
On the "being employed and also have your self-employed business"... Say you work in Japan (part time for the obvious reason if being a tax resident and health insurance), are you allowed to also have a business abroad (where you spending money comes from)? Or is it perhaps a "don't ask don't tell" situation?
I don’t understand how you can live in Japan, it’s not a place where non-Japanese belong, I always picture a Japanese person trying to live in Lebanon (where I’m from) where it’s 95% Arab I can imagine how difficult it would be
What kills me is trying to find info on how to move to Japan and retire there. Not much info there. Guess in two years I'll have to start such a channel. Mostly looking for how taxes will work and ssa. =D
As far as I am aware of there is no Retirement Visa in Japan so that won't work .... with enough money you could open up a business and move as a business owner but thats probably the only way if you didn't manage to stay x years in Japan and get a Japanese passport.
Why would you want to retire there? You mean old-age retire? You know that means lots of hospital visits, yet you don't even speak Japanese. Are you expecting English service?
great stuff man! appreciate you sharing this with us.

I am not sure they’ll take those for a business 😆 but great tip nevertheless!

We all want different things 👍🏻
the world is for everyone to share, as long as you are respecting one another and respecting each others cultures.
