The LS sounds amazing for finger picking. The articulation seems better and the bass response is no slouch for an OM size guitar. Really sweet sounding.
*My MAIN guitar along with my GUILDS* ❤ This Yamaha is great for street musicians and songwriters! Very clever design and wonderful sounding and build guitar. I do covers on my channel with the Yamaha LS TA Cheers friends and PLAY ON 💥
LS for me. Bought a first gen LS6 rosewood when they were first released. Has only gotten better with age. Extremely well built guitar that has held up perfectly and holds tune for what seems like forever. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Cheers!
I just bought a LS6M. Already have a couple of dreads (Fender CD60CSEM, Ovation Celeb) . Wanted to try a smaller body for comfort. Also the LS has a wider nut so wider string spacing. Also the white binding with the black fret markers make seeing them much easier. I am an older (62) beginner and have been for years. The L S is beautiful and sounds great. I thought I would miss the low end of the dreads, but the comfort, string spacing, and visibility of frets have made me the best player I have ever been. Plus I practice more because I love it. Try one you will love it. Hope this helps.
Jarvis, I really enjoy your reviews, and very much appreciate your enthusiasm and playing. I perceive that the LS is more articulate in the higher frequencies than the LL, which is a “boomier” instrument. I just bought the LS-TA, and I think it is a great value for the money when compared to the major manufacturers. It has mid to high end frequency articulation, and a good balance of bottom end support when played. Greeting from Pennsylvania!
yes, buy both and problem solved...first guitari bought to learn was fg800...it was a great guitar, gave it to my cousin cause he wanted to learn to play...it was sounding better and better as the years went on...'ive spent a small fortune trying to find perfect guitar,,,yamaha will never disappoint you...great vids, thanks
You make it very hard to decide which I like best "cause they both sound great in your hands , the LL a little more bass and you have changed my opinion of Yamaha guitars. Thanks for posting and keep them coming.
Great video, I'm currently looking for my next guitar. You made what was already difficult decision in buying a guitar even harder (but in a good way). Thanks for your hard work!
Yamaha makes high quality musical instruments. I owned a few Yamaha guitars previously and have never been disappointed. I also have a Yamaha digital piano which sounds fantastic and is solidly built. Kudos to Yamaha music! Do you make cars?
I just got an LS6R A.R.E. it is a used model. Took it out the box this morning. I need to put on fresh strings and perhaps a setup. It is a used model. Very clean.
I have the Yamaha ll16 left-handed ARE. This by far sounds and plays better than the LS series. The LS series is good. I also have the LL 16 ARE in Trans-Acoustic as well. Nothing in all of music comes close to touching that.
@The Guitar Spa Singapore I lucked out with the one I got. It's really in excellent condition for about 7 years old. I bought it from a reputable dealer. I checked with Yamaha on the manufacturing date. Why did I start playing so late? I can't say.
Wow these are good, I really can't imagine spending a couple of thousand more for no reason on a catchier brand name when you could keep one of these for a lifetime and it would get better and better.
Great comparison. I have an LJ6. (China restart on the small factory I think). Waited 18 months... lower $s of L series). Beautiful. Smaller body. Interesting about their commitment to product. Evident.
That’s hard choice, I’d agree that having both would be ideal. One small point that would lead me towards LL is the D (deluxe) version which I think is not available in LS16, right?
For last song, LS sounds much much better to my ears. LL is better on strong strokes, and at lower notes. And LS is wonderful on delicate presentation. It’s more like which suits your need and preferences than which one better.
The LS series reminds me of OM & OOO 28 Martin, little brighter in my ear? thanks for the Comparison really valuable. I personally don't wanna Dreadnought because I mostly record not in a band like blue grass or country.

I got a Yamaha LL16D and it sound like heaven. I'm gonna buy me an Ls too. This is the best buy for that price. I also think it sound better than a Martin D28. I really like the sound of the Yamaha better. The only change I've done is that I've swapped the pickup for the L. R. Baggs Lyric pickup and change the nut and bridge to bone. Check out Driftwood Guitars review on the Yamaha LL16D. The Yamaha guitars are really awsome! th-cam.com/video/MYpAXJuJY7c/w-d-xo.html
I have one...and other Yamaha's....I'm done with Yamaha...their customer service has changed....they suck now. Used to be great....you'll be fine with simple stupid stuff....give them a real question and they'll blow you off. If you gig with it their stupid piezio pickup will drive you crazy.....when plugged in it's like an ice pick...super trebly. You'll have to have an EQ for sure and it still will be trebly.

congrats and play it in health and joy
👍 Good testimony.
You make some relevant points.
That "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" just sounds wonderful. Your playing and interpretation are exceptional! Just lovely.
I just like the fuller sound of the LL better, but it is only a personal preference. Anyone buying this will be very happy with either one.

Also want to mention, I play the Martin Special 16 Rosewood, and Martin D-18; the LS-TA guitar is in the same league for quality build and sound.

Got me one of each, a 96’ LL-11. Given to me by my cousin who hadn’t touched it in 10+ yrs.
I also got myself an LS-TA VT.
Mine arrives tomorrow!! Woohoo!!

I like the overall sound of the LL, but prefer the comfort of the LS, just sitting around the house, etc. That's why I also have both!
you are smart
The LS36 is fantastic. I love it.
I bought the Yamaha LS16M today! Sounds beautiful! The M stands for Mahogany!
i love the M for LS16 - reason … the organic woody tone .. amazingly good
congrats
Oh I wonder what M was for
Don't forget the 12 string. I own all three, all of them are great guitars.
I don't think Yamaha makes a 12 string in the TA line
I got a used LL6M ARE a few weeks ago, and it that mellow sound from the Mohagany back and sides. It's such a great guitar.
there is a used piece that i like to buy in singapore ..

The first you play is for your way to play the second for fingerpiking
To me LS for the win. Sounds more balanced 🔥
May I know where you set up guitar, especially strings action?
sorry i dont know what you mean...Straigten the neck then measure and then lower the saddle accordingly
What I meant was which shop did you do set up?
Or do you do set up by yourself?
Sorry for my ignorance.
@@hein0003 well i setup all the guitars thats comes to my spa the guitar spa
They both sound good but if buy both then leaves me with only 1 more guitar can buy maybe red label?
I love the LL16D
Yamaha LL had a open sound that LS.....
LL36 for me and love the resonance of both and the Red Label also.
I may be jumping the gun here, but I see L56s and I see LL56s. Are they the same thing? I can't find a clear answer! HELP!! Thanks.
A little late but i think the single L just means it was made earlier like pre 2000s? idk something like that
Please do review of Veelah MC-KOA
What about fg series red labels
LS16 is my cup of 茶~
good for you
Did yamaha make any changes in 2023 to these guitars?
nope
Nice guitars. Are you sure that LS is Rosewood? Looks very different colour to the LL?
Yamaha does make a LS-16M which is Mahogany
I thought the exactly same thing
