I think I understand something now. When Rich reveals a new idea he doesn't just come out and say, "hey look at what I've got now." He builds up to it so even if he's made a whole entire story he wants to reveal, he starts small. He puts it in a way that's super digestible too. Rich, if you're planning to swap batteries at 24h of Lemons, can you mount them lengthwise in the car side-by-side on rails (maybe heavy duty shelf rails from Home Depot)? That way you just slide 1 pack out of the car onto a cart, charge it, and slide it back in next pit stop.

Well they removed the engine, but kept the transmission. But they are also adding a lot of weight to the back. Likely to wheelie, no. More possible with the shift of center of gravity, yeah.

It looks like there would be enough room for 3 sets of batteries back there. Not sure if they are available or in the budget. Just thinking it might help with the range.
Use ratchet straps to hold the batteries down and just have them on forklift battery connectors (the same connector as your safety kill). That way you could swap batteries super quick.
I was thinking turn the batteries 90 degrees and put them on a pull out bed with QD. You should be able to get a 3rd set now that they removed the backseat

Have you thought of giving a course / talk on what it takes to change a car over to electric? Everything from what to look for when selecting a car to the nitty gritty of actually doing the swap. I have been watching you videos for a while and you give some great tips and show us things that I would never had thought of with respect to doing the conversion. A guide to converting cars to electric if you will. With coved a gathering probably would not be in the cards now? Maybe a multi part series if videos? Maybe both?

Should have mounted the batteries lengthwise to make them easy to remove.
The floor can be cut to lowering the batteries for decreasing the center of gravity.
And for room for a 3rd module. He's only got 16 kwh max with those 2 modules

To seal the old batteries under the car use the old tank. Cut it up .
For room that's harder . Cut the back seats floor and a frame.

Change of plan , cut the top of the tank off put the battery in there sort of cut a hole under the back seat , make a frame , seat back on top

Rich, in the ev races they don't charge the driver's car battery, the driver steps in to a whole different car that is already charged. while he drives the new car, the previous ev race car is serviced and charged.

For me, the elephant in the room is battery capacity. The last year of the first gen volt battery pack was only 16kwh. In my volt, I was lucky to achieve 4 mi/kwh. Let's assume you only allow for 80% of the pack to be used and double the efficiency (this will weigh less than the volt) and you're only looking at a range of about 100mi

It is easy to shift without de-clutching. Just use the accelerator to transition torque through zero, while applying very slight pressure to the shift lever. Trans will shift to neutral when torque reaches zero. Then use slight pressure again toward the next gear and use the accelerator to transient ion through synchronous speed for the new gear ratio. It will fall into gear when the speeds match.
