    One last thing to add is if you have the stock retainer, you will need to slip that onto the axle shaft before you install the new bearing kit. If you have an aftermarket retainer, then you can put it on later down the road. Best of luck to those who try to tackle this!

    It’s also important to note the early roller bearings (not tapered rollers) the seal is in the housing, not on the axle.

      I have the tapered bearings. I had to take them back to the shop twice because they’re leaking. Now, I have to do it again. Is there anything a specific I need to look for on the axle. Pulled the axle, and race is stuck in the axle tube which I think is fine. I just need this to stop leaking.

      @@chriscoffey6667 if you have a habitual leaker, you need to check if that housing is straight.
      Sadly, most are somewhat bent from being 40+ years old.

    Do you have to remove a race from the axle housing now that you are not using tapered bearings? How does that work?

    • @hankfink
      @hankfink 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but unless you know for a fact they're set20 Timkens, mixing and matching is probably not a good idea. Just leave the race off the new bearings. Often though they have a different style. You can definitely rent the tool to pull the races at parts stores like O'Reilly's and Autozon

      😂Yeaaahh, it is what it is. We would just rather warn people that it might not go as planned. That's with anything Bronco related haha

      @@wildhorses4x4 They don't have to, as anything on TH-cam is 'entertainment'. Kinda like Fox New's defense.
