Meryl has already said she's up for a sequel. Emily and Ann are in, too. That's one of the reasons they staged that whole little skit at the awards show (I can't remember which one). From what I heard in an interview, they are just waiting on the script before signing contracts. They don't want to do a disservice to the original, either. Haven't heard anything about Tucci, but given how he feels about his co-stars, I imagine he feels the same.
Meryl Streep has never done a sequel to a movie. She even refused to do the sequel for Mamma mia. She is known as the actress who refuses to do sequels
They both said FOR years they would not do it, because they already had something that was perfect, I guess the paycheck coming from Disney is big enough this time to change their minds, but probably is gonna be some PC crap like Cruella, or with some boss ass girlpower monologue.
Meryl Streep doesn't need the money...she is one of the highest paid actresses that there are. She just doesn't like a sequel just to make more money, she wants it to be a quality production that actually has something new to say about the characters. Most sequels don't do that. Witness the endless sequels we are surrounded with yearly. She was already in production for another film when they filmed Momma Mia 2. She agreed to do her cameo in 2 because she knew it was needed for the story to make sense. As far as I am aware, she has never been asked to do other sequels.
Definitely Stanley Tucci. He is an amazing cook and author and actor. Way back when I was working at a from scratch bakery in Katonah New York across the street from the metro north station he would come and get a coffee and maybe a bagel or scone. He was genuine and sweet and such a gentleman. He was amazing in Devil Wears Prada, hunger games and especially the big night.
Maybe, but Big Business was meant as a zany comedy and Midler's acting is always cartoony and "community theater", depending on over-the-top face expressions and eye rolls. Don't get me wrong, I love her too and that was one of my favorite 80s movies but it was funny in a silly way.
I love the idea. A crisis at runway and a cameo with Nina Garcia would be cool. Miranda has to get Andrea back. Andrea needs Nigel. Emily is poached by a rival magazine and war breaks out.
Miranda's entrance is heavily inspired by Ms Sheldon's entrance in Big Business, some what into 70% identical movements of the main character and the rest of the cast and the extras: the car, the shoe, the elevator, the hat, the frantic movement of the employees, the demanding boss. Probably an ohmage to the forgotten comedy hit of the 80s.
and she will reprise the role as a Cameo again in Mama Mia 3 (the story of her parents Cher and Mr SinFuentes) where she will be a ghost again at the wedding of them. the title : Mama Mia, we're not done yet!
Are you kidding me they are making a sequel to one of my favorite movies 🎬!!! I totally agree Disney better stay true to the story, personality and characters of the first movie or Prada fans will call them out on it... Lol P.s. Make witchy but believable the DEVIL is in the details ✨️
All three characters, Emily, Andi, Nigel, can have their revenge. Emily, heading a major fashion house that does not advertise in Runway, Andi, working at a major news outlet (New York Times?) and has influence with a fashion column, and Nigel, heading up a social media fashion empire that is by numbers, much more in tune. The question is, how does Miranda stay on top?
THE DEVIL WEARS PARADA MOVIE SQUEAL 2. WOULD BE SO EXCITING WITH SOME NEW CAST MEMBERS LIKE MERYEL STREEP ANN HATHWAY STANELY TUCCI, PERICE BRONSAN , HUGH JACKAMAN HARRISON FORD PLAYING FASHION ICONS IN 2024
The original film was a good story, well acted and well directed. All I want, if there is a sequel, is another good story. The sequel I am worried about is Red White and Royal Blue 2!
OH GOD NO PLEASE!!! It was bad enough that they destroyed Beetlejuice don't kill another film with a bloody sequel!! I'm still recovering from Hocus Bloody Pocus!! And let's face it none of us are getting any younger. It'll be more like The Golden Girls meets Cocoon wearing Chanel ffs!
Well it can't be based on "revenge wears Prada" as in the end of the movie Miranda is glad and happy about Andy's freedom. The "second smile on record" but only seen by us and the driver (who probable wonders why she smiled as it's such a rare occurrence, and since he is a blabbermouth everyone at RUNWAY will know about that. I'm sure that Andy will be an editor in chief somewhere, that Nigel has become CEO of a fashion brand, and that Emily did become an editor or director too. So given the current circumstances, and the original movie taking so much liberties with the book (thankfully) I believe that Miranda will actually ask help from Andy and Emily to save RUNWAY as Nigel is now the competition and "ready to take her down". However in the last few minutes of the movie she offer both Emily and Andy the job, knowing full well that she is to become CEO of Ellias Clarcke, that Nigel's publishing house is going down and she wants to Nigel to become editor in chief of RUNWAY all along and not Andy and Emily, which in the end she does pushing Andy and Emily to the curb and a nice set up for a third movie. Maybe having Andy and Emily take over the job from Nigel's publishing as Miranda feels they are, as a pair the perfect fit for the job. Remember in the movie she is sly, well informed, intuitive and one hell of a negotiator and blackmailer with the sweetest of smiles. Also she knows she owes both Andy and Nigel a good deed, one for backstabbing, the other for having chosen her own way and seeing herself in Andy. as for Emily, I think she sees all of her potential. Maybe this time we'll see Milan or London for fashion week.
Although I agree with you that Miranda's entrance in the first movie is iconic (and TDWP is still one of my fave movies of all time), it's far from original. It's almost verbatim to Bette/Sadie in Big Business almost a decade (1988) before or Sigourney/Katherine Parker in Working Girl of the same year (links below). Seeing all side by side, it's the one sequence where I just wished they had gone differently in introducing Miranda. By doing such a literal and direct copy to other movies that came before , it cheapens the scene (and the movie) just a wee bit. th-cam.com/video/1hqffSuB99o/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/fJxHloISQiY/w-d-xo.html
I don't know what Streep's problem is, the first movie Miranda was rather kind when compared to the book in fact she was more of a Mary Poppins character and I didn't hate her as much as in the book. I worked for a true to live Devil in fashion in Paris...never knew of the person was Jekyll or Hyde because of the different drugs she took on a daily basis...
I sincerely hope Nate and her "friends" are long gone. It was on E4 the other day, the kiss in the Gallery you could swear they were having sex on the floor the reaction it got, But it was fine throwing all the luxury items. Nate made a comment about not being a child then went onto sulk about his Birthday exactly like a child would this was my irk with the original film why she went chasing after him. There was a rumour flying around the plot would be based on Runway and Miranda facing the struggle of falling sales and how she and Runway cope with it becoming an online publication.
This is going to be the usual train wreck of a Disney mess of virtual signalling, guilt .tripping and political lecturing. Just like their other franchises.
The Andy getting married part reminds me of the sex and the city movie when big leave her at the alter and carries life goes off the rails yada yada yada
Omg, idk, I dont have a good feeling about this, I adoreee this movie, but what I heard here, it doesnt sound good, Andy would never start a bridal magazine, she doesnt care about fashion, the first movie showed her going back to herself, the whole point why she left. Andy and Emily are in good terms at the end and had respect for each other, but they would never start a real friendship, let alone start a magazine together, realistically. What I would like to see, a rival to Miranda- and I think a perfect for that would be Kim Catrall as a big boss, it would be hilarious. Or something like how is gona please the owners more to take over the magazine and all that. Something similar to what we had in emily in paris when that woman came to sylvies office and all that. I absolutely agree that Nate is a complete loser, and cant keep up with Andy. Like, they’re never been a match, she grew and he still remained simple
Depends which gays, the regular ones who act normal and like good sarcastic dry comedy and aren’t offended or the loud obnoxious younger ones that want everything to be woke and inclusive and will find the tiniest thing offensive

Anne and Meryl said they would not do a sequel because they already had something that came out perfect, I guess Disney paychecks are big enough to make anyone change their mind, but knowing Disney movies nowdays, is gonna be really bad with some girlboss monologue. Also the Boyfriend wasn't the villian, I'd love to see the actor again in the movie.
Have you read Revenge Wears Prada? Spoilers for those who haven't yet! You say you hope Nigel will return, but if the film follows the book closely (as the first film followed the book very closely -- there were minor changes, mostly with Nigel's characterization, but a lot of it is lifted straight from the page) -- Nigel is barely in it. That being said, this film will likely not be as close an adaptation as the first, as (again, huge spoiler alert for those who haven't read it), Miranda is also barely in Revenge Wears Prada. Don't get me wrong, I like Revenge, but it'll probably be a disappointment to those who've only read/watched The Devil Wears Prada. I know it was a huge disappointment the first time I read it. I picked it up again this summer and appreciated it much more the second time 'round.

Wow!
One of my fav movies watch it every year at least once. Better be a good sequel
innit
Andi should lose the boyfriend (a chef who burns grilled cheese) and also lose her useless, toxic friends.
@@everardoaguilar8991 According to the second book, she does. Don't know if they are basing the sequel on it, though.
I guess I need to watch it again… why the hate, or am I missing the sarcasm?
The Miranda Priestley entrance was iconic, but it was preceded by the same entrance by Sadie Shelton (Bette Midler) in the 1988 film Big Business.
Bette was so funny in big business
Maybe, but Big Business was meant as a zany comedy and Midler's acting is always cartoony and "community theater", depending on over-the-top face expressions and eye rolls.
Don't get me wrong, I love her too and that was one of my favorite 80s movies but it was funny in a silly way.
And also by the entrance to the House of De Vil by Glenn Close in the 1996 live action adaptation of "101 Dalmatians."
Don’t forget Pat Field too, the way she dressed the main & supporting characters are on point.
I own the movie and can watch it whenever. One of my favorites!
Disney has destroyed a lot of movie franchise like Star Wars
Prada collection of clothing fashions for gentlemen are examples of perfection in its most show of way!
Meryl Ann and Emily and Stanley got to be in the part 2 for sure .
AGREE Nate is the true villain!
I love the idea. A crisis at runway and a cameo with Nina Garcia would be cool. Miranda has to get Andrea back. Andrea needs Nigel. Emily is poached by a rival magazine and war breaks out.
Hope Disney don't fuck it up.
No matter how many makeover movies Ann Hathaway is in, I can never believe that she was plain to begin with.
OMG 😆
I can’t wait!!!! YEAH!!!!!
I think a second Devil Wears Prada Movie would be fun.

I read Revenge wears Prada; its not great: Hopefully its not the basis for the movie
can't wait!
Why?????????????!!!! Leave this legendary classic ALONE!!!!!
cause it has a second book?
I hope all the original actors come back...the cast was great. Love this movie. 💜
Meryl doesn't do sequels. She only relented for a cameo in Mamma Mia 2.
That's the reason Cher was her mother in a sequel and Meryl was dead.

I disagree that the Nate character is a villain. He is a stabilizing character who reminds Andi what she’s sacrificed to become one of the “clackers.”
