ngl, but sangwoo is a very well-written, complex, and above average intelligence character. this show will be boring without someone like sangwoo. and the reason people joined the game wasn't supposed to make friends, but to survive and get the money.
Sangwoo is the most realistic character. Let’s be honest about that. Yes, he is a shady backstabber, but given the situation he was strategically the best player imo. Edit: I didn’t know my comment would get this many likes. It’s just a fictional character. Please stop fighting.
I actually argue that Gi-Hun is besides his protagonist luck because even people with kind hearts can make shitty mistakes. He acts impulsively at times, has emotional outbursts, struggles mentally and financially, isn't the bravest guy ever, his high empathy can make him easy to manipulate, he can't always resist temptation, and he makes mistakes. These are personal problems people deal with. Sang-woo is above average intelligence, is a master manipulator, and is calculating when it comes to homicide. Not many people are like this.
I love how the guy who played Jang Deoksu (Heo Sungtae) is the total opposite of the character, his instagram posts are so wholesome lmao (he sometimes posts about his cats and stuff) (I know what an actor is, just wanted to say that their personalities are different, no need to be so rude to other people man)
About the last one: "he killed his brother" We don't know if he's dead or not because he was shot in the shoulder en fell into the water, the chances of surviving that are pretty high

Yeah, it makes no sense like seriously. I don't really think he deserves it maybe because he stole money from the boss but he did it for a reason. The boss did not pay him for 6 months even after his hard work. He is indeed the kindest character in the series and I was sad when I heard that he was killed.
I actually really enjoyed how Oh Il-Nam was written, and how even though he was "undercover", his actions towards the people around him still felt very sincere, as if he was actually playing the games.

I like to interpret the bad VIP acting as a criticism to the artificiality of the rich. How their humour and entire person is derived by money and whatever is populor/can be capitalized on (ie. 69 jokes, gold masks, wearing robes, and sipping whiskey. rather cartoonish). They're human by appearance. It's probably not correct but it makes watching the VIP scenes more tolerable.

Oh Il-Nam was a quite good written villain. He became so rich, that he could no longer feel fun. So he decided to start a game where he invites desperate people who would die anyway, either via the loansharks, disease or other reasons. And he did say that the players returned willingly, despite knowing the risks. Twists like this are always interesting. He also kinda gives me the Palpatine vibe, being a manipulator. Like Sidious, he dragged down a good character to his level, when he challenged Gi-Hun for the final game. Il-Nam won, when Gi-Hun decided to watch instead of helping that man.
Sangwoo may have been considered "bad", but everything he did, he did with reason to win the game. He played strategically. I consider him smart, not bad. It's not like he'd have done what he did outside of the games, he simply did what he had to do, in order to survive, and he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty to do so.
Basically we can say now a days people don't think twice before hurting someone else just like this character. I don't really know how many people will agree with me but yes humanity is scarce these days

How can fans hate Deok Su? He’s the most important in the game. When he died, the series no more fun. And I can’t understand why people hate Oh-Il nam (Player 001). Yes he’s the one who created the game but he didn’t force anyone to join. Everyone who’s playing knows that only one will live, yet they still continue. He’s the one who chose not to continue the game and get everyone back home. They still came back later. It’s clearly not his fault. The Front man deserves no hates too. He didn’t kill his brother. Honestly, Han Mi Nyeo saved the show from being downright dark. She was the much needed comic relief and had a interesting personality. She was manipulative, but downright smart (street smart). Not to forget her end. She knew she would die, but wouldn't allow that it would be because of Deok Su's cowardice. Her sacrifice was the ultimate redemption.
Ali wouldn't have won anyway, he was too kind and trusting and unfamiliar with Korean games. Even if he did make it past the glass Bridge he would've died in squid game, he'd be confused. Also sang woo did what he had to. He treated ali with kindness but when ali came back into the game and he had to fight ali for his life he chose for him to have the chance at winning, which was honestly fair and reasonable
Honestly I'm not usually the "main character" person, i usually chose the side characters. But this...they did a really good job, that made my fav character Gi-Hun.
He's more cunning than realistic. What makes me hate him is that he was proving what all the VIPs believed. That humans don't care about each other except for themselves and how they have more sympathy for a dollar than a friend. Gi- hun won the bet at the end, proving the old man wrong, but sang woo did the opposite.
Honestly there probably is a tragic story behind the guards. Just seeing how devoid of life and emotion that unmasked guard showed before the Front Man shot him spoke to a more dark and disturbing training regime.
I don’t think so. In the videos before in the first episode, you could see some players picked red and were in the competition. So while this theory is interesting, I don’t think it holds any merit or is true.
I don’t necessarily hate the front man as we don’t know why he’s doing that role. It will definitely be a big reveal in season 2 so I’ll have to wait and see.

Not to be a nerd, since front man survived a gunshot at the shoulder, but those can be fatal. The bullet often shatters itself and lands usually on bones, breaking them and causing a lot of pain - you get very nervous, your body has a hole, and your blood pressure goes higher. You can die by bloodloss. Not to mention Jun-ho fell off a cliff onto the water shortly afterwards, so if he didn't die of bloodloss, he might aswell die from a) the fall b) drowning c) hypothermia. That being said, this is fiction so I wouldn't be surprised if he was alive and thriving.

We see that the front man is hesitant when he shoots his brother, but we see that he gets shot in the shoulder yet we don’t see him hit the ground, meaning he could’ve fallen in the water.This off camera effect is also done with player 001.He shot him also because although he is the front man,there are people above him that will probably kill him if he let his brother live.
I understand Sangwoo and Miyeon, I think they're so misunderstood, Sangwoo I felt like was one of the most relatable characters as many of us would have done what he has done, Miyeon must have been treated inferior her whole life and so has so much pride and ego for herself.

I like to interpret the bad VIP acting as a criticism to the artificiality of the rich. How their humour and entire person is derived by money and whatever is populor/can be capitalized on (ie. 69 jokes, gold masks, wearing robes, and sipping whiskey. rather cartoonish). They're human by appearance. It's probably not correct but it makes watching the VIP scenes more tolerable.

Oh Il-Nam was a quite good written villain. He became so rich, that he could no longer feel fun. So he decided to start a game where he invites desperate people who would die anyway, either via the loansharks, disease or other reasons. And he did say that the players returned willingly, despite knowing the risks. Twists like this are always interesting. He also kinda gives me the Palpatine vibe, being a manipulator. Like Sidious, he dragged down a good character to his level, when he challenged Gi-Hun for the final game. Il-Nam won, when Gi-Hun decided to watch instead of helping that man.

Honestly, Han Mi Nyeo saved the show from being downright dark. She was the much needed comic relief and had a interesting personality. She was manipulative, but downright smart (street smart). Not to forget her end. She knew she would die, but wouldn't allow that it would be because of Deok Su's cowardice. Her sacrifice was the ultimate redemption.

That humans don't care about each other except for themselves and how they have more sympathy for a dollar than a friend. Honestly there probably is a tragic story behind the guards. Just seeing how devoid of life and emotion that unmasked guard showed before the Front Man shot him spoke to a more dark and disturbing training regime.
I don’t think so. In the videos before in the first episode, you could see some players picked red and were in the competition. So while this theory is interesting, I don’t think it holds any merit or is true.

Not to be a nerd, since front man survived a gunshot at the shoulder, but those can be fatal. The bullet often shatters itself and lands usually on bones, breaking them and causing a lot of pain - you get very nervous, your body has a hole, and your blood pressure goes higher. You can die by bloodloss.
Not to mention Jun-ho fell off a cliff onto the water shortly afterwards, so if he didn't die of bloodloss, he might aswell die from a) the fall b) drowning c) hypothermia.
That being said, this is fiction so I wouldn't be surprised if he was alive and thriving.
