Thanks Andy for sharing all the tips and tricks. I often come here and brush up my tableau skills. Your videos have made me more confident in Tableau. Keep sharing your valuable tableau knowledge
Thank you for sharing this! This is awesome feature. But, when I am adding show/hide buttons, the other charts aren't adjusting. Can you please suggest what needs to be done to fix that? Thank you!
I'd suggest you check out my dynamiz zone visibility videos instead. That feature replaced this workaround shortly after I posted the video. www.youtube.com/@vizwiz/search?query=dynamic%20zone%20visibility
WoW! How do you always know just what I need to build that day? I have a perfect use case for this and I am inspired to add these show/hides on my dashboard TODAY!
Very cool and just what I was looking for! Question: when you hide the one container, the other charts expand to fill in the empty space, how do you do this so the other charts expand to fill in the space? I have a description text box underneath a chart that I am trying to be able to hide and show but when its hidden, i want the chart above it to expand into the space below it
Hi Andy, I have been following Your videos from couple of weeks. Such a great Content. As you said these videos are helping me to become great at Tableau. Thank you so much
This is a very concise and helpful introduction for this functionality within Tableau. However, I feel this video might now need an follow-up, to take into account the added flexibility of dynamic zones in Tableau 2022.3
Hi Andy thanks for your video I followed the steps and all fine but not sure why when I hide container the rest of containers not stretching along the view
Make sure you don’t have the title showing and that the worksheet doesn’t have a fixed size. You might also want to look into dynamic zone visibility at some point. That will help going forward.
Even if I am not using fix width with my worksheets, I am still facing an issue like it is not utilizing entire space when using the show/hide button. Please help me out on this @AndyKriebel
Great feature, down-side: is only available from Tableau 2021.2, some of us still stuck on previous version, will have to wait until organization push this version :(, but great video 👍👍👍
Hi Andy this was very easy to do with Tableau 2022.3 however I want to move filters container to left side and when I do that and hide it there is white space and other sheets are not shifting to left to take space available. Have you tried that? It works fine when filter container is on the right. Thanks
Thanks Andy. Quick question when I did the same thing and hid the left container the Quarterly Sales and the Sales and Profit charts they don't expand and cover the entire dashboard, so my left side has a big void, what am I doing wrong? 📊

That's really smart how you used an empty bar chart when the chart is visible and a full bar chart when the item is hidden. Love it!
Great! This is one feature I really wanted to use. Thanks for sharing, Andy!

Very interesting video, thank you Andy 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it
Very helpful! Thank you sir! I'm be working on implementing this cool feature from now on. :)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank u for this great video ❤
Merci, c'est sympa cette astuce.
Thanks Andy for this valuable tutorial, could we make Show/Hide Buttons with a floating container? Thanks once again
Yes you can!
Nice video, Andy please do you have to press Alt and click on the button to hide/show?
Only when you are building the dashboard. Once you publish or are in presentation mode, you only need to click.
Simple & clever! 👋
Thank you! Cheers!
Can we click anywhere outside to hide the view, rather than the show/hide button?

Very true! It's on my list.
I applied the add show/hide button. But sheets are capturing entire space when filters are hidden.
Is it possible to add containers to a Show/Hide button which I copied from another dashboard because I need to keep exactly the same design?
Hi Andy thanks for your video I followed the steps and all fine but not sure why when I hide container the rest of containers not stretching along the view

One Question : for filter show and hide button is it possible to hide the filters by clicking anywhere in the sheet/DD Thanks in advance.

You should be able to use it for containers I believe, just not the individual objects.
@@vizwiz when it is floating yes, otherwise not working for me :(
@@linustorvalds306 gotcha, that must the limitation with that version then.
Love this
That’s great 🎉

Your container probably has a fixed width.
@@vizwiz The container for which I would like to expand should be selected to fit the entire view?
How did you add the category , Region, Segment Filters on the right?
Did I forget to cover that in the video?
Thanks Andy. Quick question when I did the same thing and hid the left container the Quarterly Sales and the Sales and Profit charts they don't expand and cover the entire dashboard, so my left side has a big void, what am I doing wrong? 📊
📊 make sure they are all in a container
Thank you so much
