I got an Xbox controller to have something that I can use with my iPad and I was looking for some more substantial options for gaming on the iPad, I did know that Gamepass was coming eventually through Safari, but it’s good to know that the beta is finally here. Makes me really excited to just have a good option for gaming outside of the house or just in bed if I don’t feel like sitting behind my computer.
The lag is coming from input delay. Game Pass is being streamed to your iPad from the cloud. When you push a button on your controller there is going to be a delay in what happens in the screen because your iPad or device has to tell the streamed game what to do. Only way I’ve found to lessen that delay is to plug your controller directly into the system. Try that and let me know if it works for you. You did mention it could play any game from your library, unfortunately it’s only games that are available on game pass that can be played on the cloud atm. Hopefully they will get to a point that we can play any game from xbox to the cloud. Also, Game Pass is awesome thanks for reading my comment.
Game Pass/XCloud is complete shit on iOS. Gotta thank apple for not letting you have things. On any android device, you cloud stream directly in the Xbox App. You don't have to do it over the browser. But thank apple again for that.
Hey ik this comment is from a year ago but do you notice a difference in input lag plugging your controller into the ipad? I’m currently playing in brawlhalla on my m1 pro and I wanted to connect my xbox controller via thunderbolt cable to see if it helps with my input lag
I think it's time to update this video. I have the M1 12.9 inch iPad Pro and am using WiFi. Cloud gaming still in beta but Microsoft is really pushing it with their Game Pass. So far I think the major hurdle from the other videos I am seeing on cloud gaming is the refresh rate is limited to 60hz. Some more in depth reviews on the latest with Microsoft and how they are pushing cloud gaming with their Game Pass would be awesome.
How do you get rid of the browser bar along the top?! Yours isn’t there in the video but I can’t seem to disable mine or put it in reader view to hide the url box

Couldn’t you deal with Bluetooth lag just by connecting the controller to thunderbolt through USB to a hub adapter like Hyperdrive? Wouldn’t solve the delay from cellular use (versus fast WiFi) but I bet it would make a difference; I don’t think Bluetooth is the only way to connect an Xbox controller is it?
The input lag is not from the controller it's self. It's because you have to stream the game trough a Web Browser (aka Safari). Because apple don't actually let you Cloud stream directly in the Xbox app. Gotta really love the fact that you can't use apple devices for shit.

The aspect ratio pisses me off and makes me feel like the Galaxy Tab is still a better tablet than the iPad. Black Blacks, Vibrant Colors, No Black Bars, Internet Downloads/Torrents, SD Card Slot. I own Both, and I struggle to find a reason to use my my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9" over my Tab S7+

Nope. It uses WiFi and does not install any data it’s the same as Spotify or Netflix. It’s not downloaded just streamed over the internet. Hope this helped!

There are more things i CANNOT do on the iPad every day compared to everything on Android. You pay 1000 Dollars and you can't use the device for anything, shitty proprietary software.
I'm sorry but, cloud gaming is absolutely not like "actual" gaming on iPad Pro. All these kind of games are really poor. I can play them even from my 5 years old smartphone.

And, even if the M1 is a beast of SOC, actually NONE of the M1 equipped machines can be considered a "gaming" machine, even the latest iPad Pro. GPU performance are too poor to play heavy graphics demanding games.
