To the people who are saying you can do mbbs in india and then move to canada for either MD or Residency, you guys are fools because 1] your mbbs degree wont qualify you to apply to canadian medschool as you wont have the prereq in mbbs, otherwise people would do BHMS in india and hope to get into medschool in canada to get an MD. 2] if you are thinking of applying to residency in canada after mbbs in india then the chances of you getting into a residency program is nearly zero and even if you do get in it will probably be a psych or physio department. You cant expect to get into family medicine or surgery with a mbbs degree from india,its highly competitive. Now to idiots saying that your job is not guaranteed only 3-4 people get in out of hundred that is true for residency in high competitive speciality like neurosurgery, plastic , cardiac or orthopedic. For family medicine or emergency medicine its actually quite easy and no thier is no medstudent i have met till now who hasnt been accepted to any residency thier are chances that you might not get in to your desired one because it might be competitive but a student in india also faces the same problem of not getting into your desired residency. AND THIS ENTIRE ESSAY IS WRITTEN BY A GENERAL SURGERY RESIDENT IN CANADA WHO WAS ONCE A INTERNATIONAL STUDENT. Kindly dont discourage anyone. And to people who want to residency in canada after mbbs i am not discouraging you i am stating facts, i would recommend going for usa because its less competitive dont take this as a discouragement i am just helping you save your time. 😊

@@srijanheer164 actually they have MD here in canada. And also chances of an IMG getting into canadian medical school is 1or2% moreover your mbbs degree wont qualify you to apply to canadian medschool as you wont have those required courses in MBBS.
It's better to do MBBS in India because the duration of MBBS is 5.5 years in most colleges where as in Canada you have to go through a pre med school and then to a medical school which is 8 years in Total. Students can come to Canada to pursue an MD after MBBS in India and the cost will also be cheaper than the total duration. And the thing about India is also that students after 12th directly go to medical schools after completing NEET but in Canada it is a long process and much more expensive.

Well I am also thinking about starting this procedure as being a doctor is all I can imagine. I have some question. At first I enrolled in UofM in Faculty of Science. There are programs like Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Biological sciences. Which program among these will be relevant to the med school and which should I take as my major? Dentists earn a very great amount of money in Canada same as md i guess sometimes,but you will need to check very specifically in universities that provide you with dental masters after you indian BDS or you can apply for pr directly

To give you an overview of Pharmacy and Medical Schools in Canada. I am in Pharmacy School in Canada. There are only 2 pharmacy schools in Ontario and 3 or 4 Medical School in Ontario. I haven't seen any Indian immigrant PharmD or going into medical school. Canada has very high competition to get into pharmacy and medical School.

As backup as pharmacist one need to study pharmd after bechlors which is nearly 3-4 year also so its equivalent to doctor....
