IELTS 7.0 and 7.5 are easily achievable with a mere two weeks of studying and watching TH-cam videos of IELTS mocks. Get it done and book your nearest PLAB date and centre ASAP. Great video. You forgot to ask about the negative effect of "gap years" on CV. Like if you take an year off after graduation (to prepare for exam etc) that might result in your rejection from UK. And they may ask you to cover up for that by having a couple of years of consistent work experience and apply again after those years. I might be wrong but maybe you can confirm from somewhere?

    • @gloriaalva8781
      @gloriaalva8781 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Dear Udipta.
      The salary of USA is higher and it is way higher not just slightly high. So for an endocrinologist- for example - will earn 2-3 times that of a UK endocrinologist.
      In UK , within the market, private vs NHS, the market of private is limited because an average Brit pefers NHS which is free and only a few wealthy go to private. So it is a dynamic of the demand and supply.
      In USA, which is predominantly private health care, you can self regulate your private practice depending on how much you want to earn and how many pts you want to see. So if you said - I want to spend time with my kids and parents and family, start the clinic at 10 am/11 am and run till 6 or 7pm its fine or if you wanted to do a PM clinic only everyday, its your choice and you would still earn decent money even with reduced number of hours. In UK, you cant tell in NHS I am going to start my clinic at 10 or 11 am. Your day and rota is decided by the managers and sometimes they can be a handful. And if you decided to go all private, you have to cover the cost of high insurance, premises rental (you cant open a clinic in your backyard no matter how big your garden or backyard is), and your charges will be in accordance and your clinic will be half full. And not to forget the secretary's charges.
      The other thing in US is, it is a capital driven market. You will have the big pharmaceutical companies to promote their products. Eg. a new bld sugar monitoring device which can monitor bld sugar 24 hrs. They bear all your travel and hotel stay while you are doing your teaching and also pay you for doing the presentation. . These kind of liberties are not there in UK.
      This does not matter so much when you are doing residency but would probably matter when you are a consultant.
      Best Wishes.

    Damn Consultants in UK make 7,500 Dollars a month working "just 48h a week"? That's so unfair for the tremendous amount of hardwork they put into become doctors. I deeply respect doctors but I don't get why UK underpays them so much. USA pay is much better for surgical and in-demand specialties like ROAD, otherwise our PCPs are also overworked [60-70hrs a week] and underpaid [160-200k/yr]. I'm a 28 y/o software engineer at google, san fransisco. I passed out from VIT Vellore and did MS in CS at USC. Anyways, my starting salary was 160k USD. 4 years later, i make 350k/yr as a senior software engineer. I only work 38hr a week. With this earning potential, I hope to retire by 50, I thoroughly enjoy my work but it is no where as important as a doctors. Please pay them adequately in UK!

    Very WRONG ADVICE ON CV- problem of Indian students are always trying to compete even though there is no competition in UK. Doctors are on Short occupation list in Uk, so they need us. That’s why they will choose you once you have a GMC registration. You don’t need to do research and audits Mam just to improve your CV. As you ain’t applying for a PG residency, But a job. All things which you mentioned can be done while doing job in UK to improve your education. Even your workplace will provide you with ample opportunities to enhance your academia.
    PLEASE DON’T MAKE PLAB A RAT RACE, LIKE USMLE & NEET PG🙏🏼

    UK has a socialist healthcare system. It is a good place to work if you are not concerned with money and just want to live in first world English speaking country.
    UK training is much lengthier (FY- 2 years, CMT- 2 years and ST training - 4-6 years. Atleast 8 years) vs USA ( 3 years of internal medicine residency) and salary is substantially less ( 60,000£ vs 3,00,000$).
    Also MRCP is much more difficult than USMLE as it is a specialist exam.

    • @masterchief1653
      @masterchief1653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      bro in usa you need to do fellowship too otherwise you will be kicked out of the healthcare system .
      lookafter healthcare professionals like family med and internal med people are made to work 10 hours-12 hours and are also on call on sundays (for which they get extra pay).hence life is not that rainbowy in usa .
      to get a rainbow life you need to do fellowships and advanced courses . fellowship duration is another 3 years and advance corses vary from 1 to 2 years ( all the durations depend on your speciality)
      hence in order to become a stellar healthcare professional you need 3+3+1=7(min) years in usa (otherwise you will not thrive

    • @masterchief1653
      @masterchief1653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also after every 5 years you have to give exams to recertify your board certificate

    • @masterchief1653
      @masterchief1653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hence you would need to give exams till you die.ex a doctor who is 70 years old and has parkinsons or alzeimer would also have to give the board exam to recertify himself. otherwise he cannot practice in usa anymore

    • @beingfearless2242
      @beingfearless2242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to Effort invested to getting Salary is directly proportional in Uk . The healthcare cost is one of the biggest deal breaker IMO. The training length is almost the same . The salary is proportional to hours invested. $300000 in California is equivalent to £80000 in Liverpool.
      The hours are brutal and these days There is a possibility of one Cancer away from going Bankrupt and setting up a Gofundme Page.
      Lots of suicides in residency and fellowship . Thanks to >100h of work/week/6-7 months stretch. Add another match for fellowship and needless research stat padding. Not to mention J1 and 2 years of hassle. To get a PR

    • @beingfearless2242
      @beingfearless2242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@masterchief1653 this is very true. The Recertification exams aren’t cheap either. The corporate world in Us is at a point where the graduates just want to make enough money to clear their debt and get off.
