I love, Mr Cavins, how you pointed out that the people went searching for Jesus. Right there we have the beginning of the spiritual life. He’s intriguing, edgy, new. But then we mature a bit and he says, believe in my Father and the One He has sent, that is your work. Ok great, then we move to the next step, let me feed you, Christ says, and almost parallel what He said to St Augustine, “Eat this and I will turn you into Me.” “Jesus, you have the words of eternal life, to whom else shall we go?”

We are what we eat. If we want to be an eternal being, we must take in that which is Eternal, Our Lord. When Mary put the little Baby Jesus into the manger this was a prefigurement of the Holy Eucharist, after all what is a manger but a food trough for the lambs to eat out of. Thank you God for this precious life giving Food from Heaven.

As a former devoted catholic, I used to attend the mass 5 times a week, pray the rosary daily, was a leader of a Catholic group/movement on my campus, and was visiting the seminary to become a priest!
I once was questioned, If I am to die at this moment, where would I open my eyes afterwards. Although I was a devoted catholic, I didn't have an answer, the person questioning me, opened the Bible at first John chapter 5, and as he read I was amazed. The passage actually speaks about a true believer in Jesus, whom has earned assurance of gaining eternal life in heaven, through Christ.
It also says that if that believer doesn't acknowledge this assurance - eternal life in heaven - he is explicitly implying that God is a liar!
After this encounter, I decided to study my bible daily, although I was a Catholic who reads his bible(which is very rare here in my country). After a year of studying my Bible i saw how much the Catholic church is far from the Bible.
If you are a Catholic reading this I would suggest yousearch the following topics:
      -The authority of scripture
-Justification and salvation: this is one of the most important topics, how am I to be reconciled with God according to the Bible!? What must I do to be saved!?
-The mass and transubstantiation (Emphasis on Hebrews 10,the "lost" book in Catholicism)
-The role of saints in The Bible
-The role of virgin Mary in The Bible
      -Purgatory and the Bible
-The pope :Is he biblical, is he even in the first church!?
-The first church and the history of the Catholic church, did it really start with Jesus or with Constantine centuries later!?
-The apocryphal books, why did they first show up in mid 15th century?
-Baptism, Is it for the babies?? , does it have to do anything with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit!?
-The sacred mysteries and the Bible: why in a time of history they were 12 and 9 and 5 and now they stand at 7? Is the sacred mystery of confession biblical!?
"The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." Psalms 145:18
God bless you all! MUCH LOVE!

      "The authority of scripture".
      *Yes!*
Please tell me why the Book (made of collected books) called "Bible" has authority for you. Tell me why the Koran hasn't authority for you. Tell me why the Tripitaka hasn't authority as sacred scripture. Tell me why all sacred scripture before Moses (the Torah) hasn't authority for you. I could list so many ancient writings which made amazing perfect prophecies about the future. And yet, they haven't got any authority for you.
      Why?
How did you decide that the Bible has "authority"? How did you decide that it was "Sacred Scripture" and "Word of God" ?
Any book of any religion affirms that it has "authority" from the Most High.

The Truth Shall Set You Free.
As I am sure that you'll reply honestly to my question,
I'll tell you honestly what I think of your story of "conversion". It seems to me as follows.
You were a catholic "believer" only in your external behaviour. But you didn't have a true personal relationship with Jesus. You didn't really believe in Him. You were only concerned for your own Salvation - as if it depended on the number of masses and rosaries you could claim.
      (Luke 9:24
"For whoever will have saved his life, will lose it. Yet whoever will have lost his life for my sake, will save it". )
One day the enemy sent you a messenger, and a little doubt was enough to send you in the abyss.
I hope that your study and your desire to encounter Jesus will bring you home.
"Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church"
[St. Ignatius of Antioch, 35 - 107 CE]
As for the Eucharist (real body and real blood), I suggest you the writings of Justin Martyr (born 100 CE, death 165 CE).
Maybe Justin Martyr (and all the early christian communities that he describe) didn't know the truth about the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles?

The Truth Shall Set You Free.
By the way, the bibliomancy is a form of divination forbidden by the Catholic Church because it is a defiance to God suggested by the devil.
As a matter of fact, it seems your case.
Please pray Jesus to show you the right path. Love for Him is the way. Not your fear. Not your desire to find a magic formula in the Bible.

Who I am. I am a Catholic and I study daily my Bible. I go to Mass only on Sunday, but I'd like to go more frequently. I recite the Rosary sometimes, and I'd like to improve also in this prayer.
Studying the Bible and reading christian books (and many history books by secular scholars) have always been a great part of my faith. At the moment I don't follow any catholic group/movement, so the Bible is mainly a personal study. In my opinion, all you said about the Bible and about the Church is false.
May the Lord enlighten your mind.

When you take out the sacrifice, the entire reason for Religion in general is erased. Wonder who's behind "reasoning" or "lawyering" the Word, in order to remove the Eucharist. I don't know how people live without it.
My favorite part of Mass is the silence after Holy Communion. No music. No talking. There is true Grace and Healing. It's so blatant that any "Sola Scriptura" argument renders obsolete.

Dear The truth Shall Set you Free....
I have no idea why you chose to address me with the above, but I thank you for trying. I consider myself to be a devout Catholic, but knowing my weaknesses I guess only God can really tell how devout I am ;) The truth of the matter however is this.... I am 100% sure of what Mr. Cavins was stating in his video, the Eucharist is Jesus Alive in us... I know it, feel it and experience it every time I go to mass, and that is quite often, as I cannot get enough of it. Apart from this I attend a local Catholic Community, serve and lead worship in a Worship Team and serve in other service groups, + do voluntary work... but nothing compares to the peace and joy the Eucharist showers upon us.
Yes, Catholics, including me, unfortunately don't study the Bible enough, and yes I'm trying harder each day, the Bible is of immense importance in my life nowadays so I'll take your suggestion to fuel my thirst of God's word...
In return I also would like to suggest something to you... EXPERIENCE the love of God in the Eucharist once again ;) The presence of God in the Blessed sacrament, and receiving him in the Holy Eucharist :) Do it through the proper means of course, but do it :) You'll experience God's love and want for a relationship with us, deeper than anything else :D
      God bless you too.

Point being, we are NOT offending the Lord through the Eucharist. I pray and hope your relationship with the Lord becomes stronger in any case.
I'm sorry to hear about your region's situation and promise you my prayers.

With due respect your belief, it must be aligned with the Scripture unless you regard your traditions to have higher authority that the bible. Those who hunger are those who don't possess the Holy Spirit but Christians already have Christ's Spirit (Rom8:9). The teaching and practice that Jesus's presence is upon and through the bread and wine at community conveys error, in that each believer who comes to the table to partake in bread and wine already have the presence of Christ in them by virtue of the Holy Spirit, and because of that constant forever presence in the believer, the believer carries with him or her all the grace Christ wishes to bestow upon believers. Insisting that Christ's presence is upon the bread and wine and can be received by the believe through eating the bread and drinking the wine, is a distortion of the teaching of the true indwelling of the Holy Spirit of Christ in every believer, everyone who walks in faith in Christ's redemptive and sanctifying work on the believer's behalf.

The Truth Shall Set You Free OK, you say that much of what we believe in is not in the Bible. But something that is in the Bible in literal form is the subject of this video: the Eucharist. Jesus makes it very clear in John 6 that His 'flesh is real food and his blood is real drink.' And at the Last Supper, he clearly says, 'This IS my body, which is given up for you.' The recurring elements of manna, sacrifice, Passover, and the Lamb all tie in.
So my question for you is why do you reject that list of Catholic beliefs, saying they are not in the Bible in literal form, but at the same time reject the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, which is in all four Gospels? And of which Paul says we bring judgement down on ourselves if we eat the Body and Blood unworthily? Why would Paul say this if it is just a symbol?

I suppose then I don't understand when to take Jesus literally and when to take it non-literally. What is the reason for taking" This is my body, this is my body" literally, but not "I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son".? It seems like you're just arbitrarily picking and choosing what you want to be figurative vs. literally.

Tom Andrews Yes, the 70 deciples that walked away from Christ had the same problem. They didn't believe either. The institution of the Eucharist comes from Christ Himself. Read chapter 6 of St. John's Gospel. Jesus has the words of ever lasting life.

Do you believe that Jesus will do whatever you ask for in Jesus' name? And yes, I have read John chapter 6, it doesn't answer my question about which words of Jesus to take absolutely literal.

Well, one guide that can help us discern is tradition. Not everything Jesus said is in the Bible. The apostles had access to much more, having lived with Christ Himself, and they passed it on in the form of the early Church's rituals and teachings.
That is why tradition has such a center role to the Catholic Church.
Also that's exactly why I think "sola scriptura" doesn't work at all...

Another thing is that in John 6, it wouldn't be a hard teaching if Jesus said that it is symbolic. Many disciples indeed left because they realize what Jesus meant: that they should eat his own flesh, not as a symbol. In fact, Jesus kept saying it numerous times to let them know indeed that is what He was saying. That indeed is a hard teaching.

The problem with trusting church tradition is that we have no way of verifying your claim that literalness of the eucharist is proven by some other words of Jesus. Maybe it's the way you said it, or maybe it arose from legend and untruths, we have no way of knowing. At least with sola scriptura, we have a record of what was written down that we can all equally look to.

You will not find the word Eucharist in the Bible that is a false Doctrine, the Bible clearly states if anyone preaches another gospel than what is written in this book let him be accursed Galatians 1:9 KJV
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

That's because you're reading an *English* bible and Eucharist is a *Latin* word. Read any Latin manuscripts or translations (Hey, like the ones the KJV is translated from!) and you'll fine the word Eucharist in the Epistles.
Sincerely, an educated & ecumenically-minded Protestant brother.

The word "Eucharist" is a transliteration of the Greek word eucharistia, which is a translation of the Hebrew word berekah. All three words mean "thanksgiving" or "praise for the wonderful works of God".
The word "Eucharist" refers to the sacrament that Jesus instituted at the Last Supper on the night before his crucifixion. During the meal, Jesus blessed bread, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me". He also shared a cup of wine with them, saying, "This is the blood of my covenant, which is poured out for many". Jesus established the Eucharist to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross and to entrust the Church with a memorial of his death and resurrection. Remember scriptures we see today are translated into English.

The bible teaches that Christ offered his sacrifice on the cross once and for all, the eucharist is a pagan tradition of men.
Hebrews 7:27 "Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself."
    Hebrews 10:10-11
"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins"
But the catholic church teaches that the priest perpetually sacrifices Christ on the altar at mass (eucharist).
The catholic church is filled with anti-biblical traditions of men.
Here's what you can find in the catholic sacraments: www.catholic.org/prayers/sacrament.php?id=2
"Doctrine about the Eucharistic sacrifice. Holy Mass is a real sacrifice, instituted by Christ at the Last Supper. It represents Christ's sacrifice of the Cross, but in an unbloody manner. Priest and victim are both Christ, who offers himself through the priest. The laity also offers the sacrifice, but does not have the power to transubstantiate. The Eucharistic sacrifice is offered to God in praise, thanksgiving, petition and atonement, for the living and the dead."
As you can see, the catholic church is going against the scriptures, this priest should be ashamed of himself for teaching lies! Become a *Christian* by trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, repent, be baptized and forget about all those pagan catholic traditions. Trust the word of God which is the bible.

      Matías Salazar.
_"The ordinary sensible sceptic or pagan is standing in the street (in the supreme character of the man in the street) and he sees a procession go by of the priests of some strange cult, carrying their object of worship under a canopy, some of them wearing high head-dresses and carrying symbolical staffs, others carrying scrolls and sacred records, others carrying sacred images and lighted candles before them, others sacred relics in caskets or cases, and so on. I can understand the spectator saying, “This is all hocus-pocus”; I can even understand him, in moments of irritation, breaking up the procession, throwing down the images, tearing up the scrolls, dancing on the priests and anything else that might express that general view.
I can understand his saying, “Your croziers are bosh, your candles are bosh, your statues and scrolls and relics and all the rest of it are bosh.”
But in what conceivable frame of mind does he rush in to select one particular scroll of the scriptures of this one particular group (a scroll which had always belonged to them and been a part of their hocus-pocus, if it was hocus-pocus); why in the world should the man in the street say that one particular scroll was not bosh, but was the one and only truth by which all the other things were to be condemned?
Why should it not be as superstitious to worship the scrolls as the statues, of that one particular procession?
Why should it not be as reasonable to preserve the statues as the scrolls, by the tenets of that particular creed? To say to the priests, “Your statues and scrolls are condemned by our common sense,” is sensible.
To say, “Your statues are condemned by your scrolls, and we are going to worship one part of your procession and wreck the rest,” is not sensible from any standpoint, least of all that of the man in the street."_

      Matías Salazar.
As you will know, the "inventor" of Sola Scriptura who started the Protestant sects was Luther.
      Luther wrote:
"Who, but the devil, has granted such license of wresting the words of the Holy Scripture? Who ever read in the Scriptures, that my body is the same as "the sign" of my body? or, that is is the same as it signifies? What language in the world ever spoke so? It is only then the devil, that imposes upon us by these fanatical men. Not one of the Fathers of the Church, though so numerous, ever spoke as the Sacramentarians: not one of them ever said, It is only bread and wine; or, the body and blood of Christ is not there present.
Surely, it is not credible, nor possible, since they often speak, and repeat their sentiments, that they should never (if they thought so) not so much as once, say, or let slip these words: It is bread only; or the body of Christ is not there, especially it being of great importance, that men should not be deceived. Certainly, in so many Fathers, and in so many writings, the negative might at least be foundin one of them, had they thought the body and blood of Christ were not really present: but they are all of them unanimous.” [-Luther’s Collected Works, Wittenburg Edition, no. 7 p, 391]

Matías Salazar Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, His death on the Cross physically encompasses all of time. If you think only linear you will not understand. Think of Jesus' time on Earth and His death as being the entry point into Heaven. From this eternal point all that was and all that will be converge 🔺. Jesus is the top of the triangle all of time meets Him there. If you want everlasting life you must have the Holy Eucharist. There is no other way to be transformed. Jesus is the Way.

Matías Salazar. If you want to know the truth about the Eucharist in the catholic faith, consult our official source, the Catechism of the Catholic Church from the Vatican website.
      You can read:
1367 _ The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice._
(Translation for you: we don't kill Jesus again during the Mass). But yes, your sins, and my sins killed Him. The sins of today and tomorrow killed Him 2,000 years ago. And they will continue to kill Him. How is it possible? Yes. It is. If you repent today He has to give the Father His Sacrifice for you, TODAY.
His Sacrifice in the 1st century gave us Salvation. And He will continue to forgive us and to save us (if we ask forgiveness). His Sacrifice is present. Really Present. That's the meaning of re-presenting the Sacrifice.
[Btw, do your own research on the eucharistic miracles. Go and check the independent scientific analysis.
I suggest you the Buenos Aires miracle and the miracle occured in Poland].
The complete chapter of the Catechism:

If you want to deny the catholic doctrine you have to know the real catholic doctrine.
Otherwise you are denying your fantasies about catholics. We are not interested in your fantasies and in the disproof of your own fantasies.

Marijo Heitman Jesus said he didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. So according to your logic then Jesus was only God to the Jews? He appeared in Jerusalem because they were the ones who studied the scriptures. Even then only 12 believe he was Christ. And 1 of them betrayed him
