    It seems impossible to touch GMP's massive serve on these hallowed Basel indoor courts. Just ridiculous. How do you return that thing? And then if you somehow get the return in, he sends another rocket through his forehand or backhand, which is basically trying to return another serve in one point. He's winning the title at this rate.

    • @mandandi
      @mandandi หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Yeah, his baseline shots are like serves. His returns are weak though, he just seems to block the serve into the court. However, when he get the chance to hit the shot then he makes sure it does not come back to him, if it does, it should be an error from his opponent. This is insane power.
      I hope he develops an all round rather than rely just of the serve. He seems ok at the net. He has won some titles already so he has a taste for success.

      IMHO what the players should do is step further near the baseline to be able to touch the ball (from the serves) earlier, right after the ball bounce.

As for Shelton, each time I try to like this player, but the incessant screaming is just too much. I think it would take a compilation of Federers entire career to get the amount of screams like that by him as Shelton produces in one match. In hindsight the hanging up the phone gesture Djokovic made last year was glorious, in response. Maybe I am too European to appreciate it, but I'd rather have Sinner doing his business. @@malekat8539It's disappointing given the hype around him. Rune himself once claimed that the next big 3 would be Alcaraz, Sinner, and himself. Losing this match isn't shameful, but he was expected to be a top 3 player competing for grand slam titles, not just making semis of 500 tournaments

    • @Tennisisreallyfun
      @Tennisisreallyfun หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@malekat8539I don’t get it either. First off, he’s 21 and he’s already won some important stuff, so give him time, he has his whole life ahead of him. Second off, when did the semifinals of a tournament become “disappointing”? Why is it that unless you’re winning grand slams and other tournaments left and right, you’re somehow not important in tennis? I just think this sentiment is wrong in so many ways. There are more ways than just the one to have a fulfilling career in tennis.

    GMP's serving is too deadly, and with how poor Rune's return stats are, Rune was always going to struggle. It's similar to when he played both Fritz and Nakashima.
    Big servers trouble Rune a lot, and he needs to seriously improve his return games if he wants to return to the top 10, especially with the caliber of player he *can* be when he's on form. Hopefully, his coach fixes thay of Rune.
    Either than that, hopefully Rune can take this deep run into Paris Masters and continue his performance here, but he has his work cut out for him there.

    MPerricard has people raise eyebrows for sure. It is in the nature of spectators and media to hype up an up and coming player very quickly. Everybody likes to talk about the next big player and the next big superlative in any department.
    They bring them down equally fast as the next big news if they can.

    If Perricard stays consistent with his serve in the final, he has a pretty good shot against Shelton. Otherwise, Shelton should honestly decimate him as he has a strong serve and Perricard is lukewarm on the return, and also Ben's backhand is solid while Perricard always tries to reposition himself to use the forehand due to his very unreliable & precarious backhand that currently is good only for keeping the ball in play.
