I would like to say this. I own a 2019 Camry Hybrid. When driving any hybrid you can increase mileage by how you drive. I average over 50 miles to the gallon. To much heat or cold can lower your mileage and short trips will definitely lower your mileage. I took a 3200 mile trip and had a full trunk with a lot of weight and stuff in the back seat. My wife and myself. I weigh close to 300 lbs. we drove mostly 70 to 75 miles an hour. We averaged 48 miles to the gallon. That is gallons of gas and miles driven. Not the car gage. I have gotten as much as 71 miles to gallon when I really try. What I am saying is someone else might have gotten better mileage than you because of technique. So don’t be discouraged study good drivers here on TH-cam. You bought a hybrid to save gas so learn how to use it.
Agree with you 100%. I drive a 2019 Insight EX and routinely exceed the 52mpg city/highway mileage rating. On the highway I consistently get 52 or better mpg and in the city I get 58 mpg and sometimes I can get 68 mpg in town. The mileage you get depends on your driving style and learning to manage the car for best fuel economy. For example I have a 19 and 21 year old boys and when they borrow the car fuel economy is somewhere in the the 44 - 48 mpg because they don't care about mpg's they just want to get to where they are going as fast as they can and they drive in Sport mode and I drive in Eco mode.
Thanks for posting your experience with camry. I am on my 3rd prius and always got between 50-55mpg. I wanted to upgrade to camry hybrid as prius get uncomfortable on long drives but was concerned i will lose 15-20mpg. If i manage to get 45mpg from camry, i will be very happy, i am not an aggressive driver and i think i can do it.
The mileage depends on many factors. I have a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring and so far i got on average 41.3 mpg over 5,500 miles, most of it in ECON mode. On longer trips (doesn't matter whether town or highway) I typically get 46-52 mpg. Short trips bring the overall average mileage down significantly. On the freeway, you have to keep the speed under 70 mph. In the ECON mode at speeds around 70 mph on fairly flat (or mildly hilly) freeways it's fun to watch the engine work - the ICE turns on, charges the battery, then the car switches to EV until the charge is gone, then the ICE turns on again, and the whole cycle repeats itself. At speeds around 75 mph the ICE is on all time. Also, when the Sport mode is on the ICE is on all the time and the mileage goes down significantly. You can also control power regeneration with the paddle shifters - i use them quite often in town when approaching red lights or stopped traffic.
I have one also and I can tell your speeds above 70mph on the highway will drop your below 40mpg. 70 or 65 is best really with cruise and Econ mode or non eco mode. Eco will help but basically makes you press the peddle further to get faster acceleration than without it.

I have a 2018 accord Hybrid for almost 7 months now. I have been getting 44~47MPG all the time. One thing I found is that you have to drive almost a full tank to get 47MPG. It takes time so if drive it for a short time and refuel in between you are most likey will not get near 47. It‘s a hybrid so if you step hard then electric motors won't get the chance to kick in then you are basically driving a gasoline car.
Thanks for info. I usually fill up after 350-360 miles the full range of my car is 480-500 miles. I don't understand when my MPG improves my overall range doesn't go up with improved MPG.
When you live in a place like Minnesota with negative temps often in the winter it makesa hell of a difference. I pretty much never have to check or even bother thinking about the tire psi. In the dead of winter I checked and it was 1-2 psi off of the machine set psi.
Mainly used in the aircraft market due to extreme and frequent altitude changes. In cars 19% additional nitrogen in your tires is really not going to make a difference in stable psi readings.
Bought my new base trim 2019 hybrid model a year ago for just under $21k (basically inventory price). 30k miles and never taken it to the shop for anything other than oil changes and a tire rotation. Range varies depending on the weather, driving conditions and your driving style. In the summer, peak range is ~610 miles, and in the winter ~440 miles for me. If you're able to get a good deal like me, than hands down its a steal. Only downside is you will have to pay separately for the spare tire.
I have a 2019 Accord Hybrid. It does not get the EPA 48/48, at least on a regular basis. I have tried driving different techniques to the point of obsession. I have gotten 48/48 on occasion but it is not the norm. I took it to the dealer and they told me besides driving habits, air density, temperature, and fuel blend are the primary factors that affect performance. They said that in the winter, dense air in harder to push through. Also, the ratio of alcohol in winter fuel time blends reduces the energy potential of the fuel. As a result of these two factors, winter fuel economy is reduced. I normally get anywhere between 30 and 38 depending on how cold it is. I once got 49 avg on a summer trip to Florida, fully loaded down, hauling the mail. So, it can do it, but it is not the norm. It stills beats many other cars but the fuel ratings are very misleading. Great driving experience. Would I buy it again, yes, but not a hybrid.
Wondering why your mileage is so bad? I drive a 2019 Honda Insight EX hybrid and my average mileage is 53 mpg for the past 3 months but that was all winter driving in east Tennessee, lots of up and down mountain roads. It's now May and with the warmer weather I'm getting an overall average of 59.5 mpg and on a few short trips (80 miles round trip or less) I've gotten 63.9 and 69.3 mpg on state highways where the speed limit is 55. You have to drive a hybrid differently that a normal ICE, smooth acceleration is one of the keys, keeping it on Econ and avoiding hard acceleration is another. If you drive your Honda Accord hybrid economically it'll reward you with good mileage. On the interstate I drive the posted speed limit which is 65 or 70 mph, I can easily get 50+ mpg, but when my son drives with his lead foot he gets 40-44 mpg and I suspect that's what you're doing.
I own a 2019 Accord hybrid LX. I drive approximately 75 daily and I get average 47MPG. Driving with AC on and using the sport mode the MPG would be around 43. If I don't drive aggressively, easily I get over 50 MPG. The most I got from a full tank was 599 miles and the least was 570. I could send photo to prove it.
There is some potential for moisture in normal compressed air but not really. Its expansion and contraction of the gas due to temperature changes. Nitrogen is less affected by temperature changes and is a larger molecule therefor does not leak as fast out of tires.
I see the ring around the display is white. Mine is green and I get 40 MPG in a mountainous area in Jefferson MD to West VA. I will have to check it when the weather warms up. It should be better then.
Watched a lot of videos regarding the 18/19 HAH and your cars has the lowest average per tankful. It could be the weather depending on how cold it is outside. The car should improve over time. Keep us posted and thanks for the information.
Cooler temps affect hybrids tremendously. The engine will run far more often to make sure the cabin is warm where as in the summer the ac is an electric compressor so it will use the high voltage battery rather than the engine for warmth once you hit summer you’ll see that number greatly improve
Sir Wa yeah, because the car can resort to electric more often. When it’s cold out and you have the heater on the car will run the engine to warm up the water to run through the heater. And the higher you have the heat the more the engine will run to make sure the cabin gets warm
On top of that, I'm guessing this guy runs his remote start all the time, considering he was letting the car run while just sitting there through the entirety of the review, he wasted a lot of fuel. Remote starting a car just to warm up a car is not going to do your average mpg any favors
I used to have a 2014 Honda hybrid , I used to easily get above 50 mpg, but I drive in range of 55-65 m/h . You have to rev the engine a little bit , not hard acceleration, to get a better mpg. If you drive above 75 mph your gas consumption starts going down. I see you have a radar detector, that thing lowers the mpg. I have a lot you tube videos on my car. Unfortunately it was totaled in an accident.

I believe you should be getting much better milleage by now after the first oil change? My regular engine averaged 20 mpg the first time I bought the car, it got much better after the first oil change though. Please update how much you get per gallon by now.
I bought the same 2019 accord hybrid. I am averaging 35mpg. Neither Honda or the dealership can explain. They make excuses, but do not have a solution. I would not have paid the premium for a hybrid, when it barely outperforms a regular gas model. Love Honda, but this car is a failure.
You shouldn’t have to hypermile or have the heat off or ac off in non extreme weather to get stated gas mileage. EPA testing should be average of conditions. Meaning some times you get 52 and sometimes 46 (heat or ac). Shouldn’t be getting 43 avg. That is how my 2019 is, only 3500 miles but avg over that period is 43.6. Not good
My Accord hybrid EX-L now has about 3500mi on it. I've been getting a consistent 43-44mpg average each time I fill up. My driving is a mix of highway and city. But even with many days of just city driving or a summer "road trip" with mostly interstate driving, its still 43-44mpg. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm in Eco or Normal mode. And I use regenerative braking quite alot. I can't seem to get closer to the advertised 48mpg EPA.
Seems like hybrids return better gas mileage once they go thru the break in period. Also hybrids return worse gas mileage when it's winter. You might find that in a few months it'll be averaging higher.
The MPG rating is not a promise. It is a standardized measurement for apples to apples comparison. BTW, I get ~43 MPG. When I make a concerted effort, I can get better than 50 MPG.

Most cars require a break-in period before you start seeing the predicted fuel economy. You'll probably start seeing improvement after the first 2000 miles or so.
I have a 2019 Accord Touring Hybrid. Nitrogen eh? Well, I've watched the pressure go down this past winter. I had to fill the front tires the other day. This thing is sensitive to temperature which I expected due to the batteries. Fuel economy ranges from 39 MPG in the coldest weather (sub 25deg) to 42-49 when above 35 degrees. On warm days in the 57-65F range I get about 47-49MPG. I'm in NYC. I bought the Hybrid to save on gas but not to lose the driving experience. That means I'm not aiming to hyper-mile, but I'm also not trying to race (although turning on Sport mode once in a while is fun af). My two previous Accords were 4cyl and I would get in the >40MPG range with those no problem, and that was with 75MPH highway driving and city driving (and I don't drive at a snails pace). I love this car.
Real Household Reviews I know it's a year later but just in case you haven't figured it out, there isn't water in your tires. The air in the tires just gets denser and lose pressure. Again there is no water in your tires!
My 18 accord hybrid averages 45.5 mpg. I have 12 000 miles on it and I drive 60% city 40% highway. On a full tank of gas I average about 585 miles when I dont use ac or heater during mild weather. When ac or heater is always on best I get is 500 miles on a full tank.
Bro I get a realistic 42-44 on mine. Are you hard on the throttle? I put mine on eco and I usually go at the speed of traffic. If you use the car consistently for short trips you’re not going to get high mpg. But I use mine on freeway commutes and I get higher than 40.
To get the quoted mpg you have to change the way you drive. You’re obviously not driving in an efficient manner. I get almost 50mpg in mine.. but I know how to drive
shivam patel taken care of? I assume you meant “how do you have to change the way you drive” but again I’m not 100% sure if that’s what you’re asking. Mainly You have to change the way you accelerate and keep the RPM’s low. You have to accelerate gradually and be light and smooth on the accelerator. You can’t put the pedal to the floor and rev the rpms up. You don’t have to drive like a grandma but you have to be conscious of how many rpms, how much throttle you’re using and what gear you’re in. It might take some getting used to but It’s really not hard at all and it actually makes the ride a lot more comfortable for the drivers and especially the passengers

FYI: Nitrogen filled tires are a joke. They don't do anything. Our ambient air is already 80% nitrogen.

It's entirely due to the temperature. When I had a Prius for 5 years, I always saw about a 10 mpg drop every Winter compared to the warmer seasons.
Seems like hybrids return better gas mileage once they go thru the break in period. Also hybrids return worse gas mileage when it's winter. You might find that in a few months it'll be averaging higher.

There’s no water in your tires. All gases are at a lower pressure at lower temp. Air is 79% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, trace other gases.

Another reason for inaccurate reading is you have to do around 4-8 fill ups.... Yeah, do 1,000 mile sand come back..
Drive it easy in econ. Speed limit or close to it. 48mpg combined in '17 hybrid.

I get 39MPG on Hyundai Accent lol and it’s cheap car. It’s not even a hybrid.
My Sport 2.0 T did 45 mpg on 93 octane consistently.
lol you need to drive more than that to determine the real mpg. give a few months.

Not everyone will get those numbers. Even Honda says that. If you drive like an idiot and also drive a lot at high speeds your mpg will be ass.
To get the quoted mpg you have to change the way you drive. You’re obviously not driving in an efficient manner. I get almost 50mpg in mine.. but I know how to drive

Mainly You have to change the way you accelerate and keep the RPM’s low. You have to accelerate gradually and be light and smooth on the accelerator. You can’t put the pedal to the floor and rev the rpms up. You don’t have to drive like a grandma but you have to be conscious of how many rpms, how much throttle you’re using and what gear you’re in. It might take some getting used to but It’s really not hard at all and it actually makes the ride a lot more comfortable for the drivers and especially the passengers
