I didn't watch the whole vid, but, the difference between a Trimac and Flowerhorn is a Trimac is a pure blood fish, and a Flowerhorn is a hybrid. It's pretty simple. There is certainly some Trimac's in FH, but FH are not a pure fish. The Trimac you showed in the first 5 minutes is gorgeous.
Burt McAster You are correct the fact is the Trimac is Pure breed and the Flowerhorn is a hybrid but, that's not all. The fact is many people can't tell visually the difference between the two when purchasing them. And that's why I made this video. To help those who cannot find help any where else. Most people seek simple answer to complex problems. I on the other hand separate the facts from the noise. RHC 4 LIFE ! ! !

Excellent video, Skip. Video got a like. I argue with people all the time about this who always wanna say "those are Flowerhorns, not Trimacs" when I post mines. Im like "No it's a Trimac, did you even know the the Flowerhorn came from the Trimac?" Sometimes like talking to a brick wall.

I said the same thing when people say by 6 or so fish and let them pair up, that's inbreeding. I agree with everything you are saying. You line breeding for specific characteristics like "tightening up" certain genes.

New man to the big cichlid world . Been loving aquarium fish since 4 years of age. That was a long class you gave, but very informative and "entertaining'. ( whole heartedly mean that) You are intense about your fish man, I learned a lot. never saw a trimac, but read about them here and there in cichlid literature. After your video...I luv em. Lol Skip I keep hearing you say perpetual fins. Lol It’s pectoral fins bro. Like the man’s pectoral area. But Cant expect every perfection and I know what you saying. . And I very much agree with What you saying in that area.
It is very easy to us when you know your true breed and know it when it’s off. It really Takes time and experience and some keen judgement which I think yoo have. You can tell a new hobbyist or a vauge person but they’ll still be unsure.
And the golden monkey you talking about at the 25-26 minute mark is definitely not any part of Pyro Trimac. It is a very old fish from Malaysia (about 25 yrs ago). That pictures been around a very long time.

Josiah Camp There are three base cichlids species that make up the original flowerhorn. One the "Amphilophus" Trimac, Midas and Veija Synspila. Now they're more cichlid species since the very first flowerhorn, that have been added to make new variations. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching ! ! !

Dude that wild caught could have been someones pet first...you never know forsure. Now i live down the street from lake Michigan if i catch something out that lake i can guarantee its wild..nobody is putting lake Michigan fish in ther tanks. But u probably live somewhere warm and that could be anything u caught.
2015th? "...or some people like to call them..." Scientific names aren't subjective. You are either naming them correctly or incorrectly. These fish are triMAC not triMEX and no fish have "perpetual fins". I can tell you are passionate about your hobby, but if you insist on making videos maybe try writing a script so you can do some quick google searching to fact check.
