      @@mpolley It was actually the first thing I jumped on there (although I also tried it at Home Gym Con as well briefly). It may just be personal preference, but I basically just didn't like the way it felt as far as a leg machine. For sure built well and you can't argue with the space saving aspect, but again could just be personal preference. Well I’m finally getting around to assembling the one you’re reviewing . So far it seems well designed, right up until I got to assembling the upper back section. You mentioned the attachment is loose , but I haven’t put it on yet . I’m having issues with the back rest itself , as it’s attached with a long double sided bolt at the bottom , but the bolt is much smaller than the hole it goes into , making for a ton of movement. They definitely made a tooling error unless I’m missing something? It’s like putting a 1/4” bolt in a 3/4” hole . I wish I was a machinist , as I’d make some bushings to press in the hole to eliminate all the excessive movement

      @@GymCrafter well the upper tubular back rest looks exactly like in the illustration. It’s a tooling issue for sure . I sent a short video of the issue to them in hopes there’s a way to resolve.
      This is all unless I missed a step,but I’m pretty sure I didn’t . The shorter lower long double sided rod/bolt that secures the foot plate fits fine with no issues .
      Thanks for the reply though, appreciate it .

    Great review , liked and subscribed. I never would have thought of adding a pad so that it could become a hack squat, genius idea imo .

    I have the "Ultimate" version from Force USA (bought used ofc), it's 45deg so it's a pretty good angle, my squat is 385 1RM at best and I can rep 450 for 12 (10rpe) on the leg press. The compact version is only 30deg angle so the 660lb limit will suck for those monsters out there but I think for the average joe it'd be good.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for posting this! I see several people have commented it's not enough weight, but those guys have to be squatting big numbers to say that. I'm a trainer, and can tell you that a 315 lb squat is rare for the general population. Same with a 225 lb bench. Your average Dad just trying to keep up with his kids has numbers well below that. With the way this press works, and adding bands if needed, this is more than enough for most people out there.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish they came with, but there are two ways to do without. First, I used a section of 1/2" threaded rod with some nuts and washers to hold it in place. I then wrapped it with some black duct tape so the threads wouldn't cut the bands. That works okay, but I prefer the second method better. The front foot of the unit is actually raised off of the ground in the middle portion. I simply loop the bands around that and then connect each end on the post between the seat and the handles. Works great. You can use standard bands. I'll be showing both methods in the video I make, but that may be a little down the road, I've got a ton of videos to shoot and post and some need to be out sooner than this one.

    I thought the same thing as you, and bought one of these leg sleds. It lasted just days in my home gym before I sold it. The problem is that it is impossible to load enough weight for it to be useful. The angle that the sled travels is too horizontal, so to get a resistance that is equivalent to e.g. a 300lb squat you need to load something like 600lb onto the sled. I couldn't even fit enough weight onto the horns to do a difficult squat. Forget about calf raises; you'd need to buy 10x as many plates as you now own and they'd never fit onto the horns. It's really too bad because the design and ergonomics are amazing.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't have both, they kind of do the same thing. The reason I like this one is that a traditional 45 degree leg press can put your lower back in a pretty compromised position, especially if you go really deep. You can feel your lower back rounding as you reach the bottom of the movement. For me, that's a no go, so I like this one better. For others, it doesn't bother them.

      @@GymCrafter along these lines, what could I buy to be able to leg press, in some form, with existing equipment? I have a standard squat rack (york), an old Hoist cable machine. Looking to minimize footprint but use existing stuff if possible. I saw a lever attachment for a Titan Fitness rack (which I don't have) but it seems so heavy to move off and on so I can use as squat/bench rack regularly. Moving that lever on and off would become a strength exercise in itself for me, as I'm a female 110 lbs. but love to leg press. Thoughts?

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@549BAL That's a great question. Most people don't like my answer to this, but fairly heavily loaded Bulgarian split squats are one of the single best ways to put a lot of strain on your legs. People usually want a leg press because it allows them to load up a lot of weight, really stress their lower body, but not overload their spine or shoulders with heavy squats. BSS do that in spades. I made a short a while ago with a great hack that makes them much easier and makes the balancing part a lot easier. If you load with a safety squat bar, a heavy racked kettlebell, or even just holding heavy dumbbells, you can get a killer leg workout and not impact your back at all. Now that I think of it, there are a couple of shorts here on the channel that I made for that exercise. I just got another solution today, which is the Fringe Sport lever arm belt squat. It goes on and off the rack pretty easily and isn't all that heavy. Not sure how it compares to the Titan, but I love it. Hope that helps!

    Not trying to be a jerk but saw your comment and just needed to tell you the truth about leg presses.
    They are actually terrible for your lower back. Biomechanically the way your pelvis tilts in the seat with the internal rotation and then adding heavy, heavy loads is the perfect storm to cause lower back issues and if you already have ANY back issues then you should run away from a leg press.
    Hack squats are fine due to no.internal rotation of the pelvis.
    If you must use the leg press then put a thick pillow between your lower back and the back pad as this will offer support but it's still the wrong machine for a person with back issues.
    Again, not being a jerk but I am a biomechanic guru as I've studied the discipline for many years.
    Of course, you can choose not to believe me but I would not take the time to write this to you if I was lying. Just offering the truth
