- In this overland vlog we will show you our trip to Ireland. We traveled with our Land Rover Defender and Labrador Lewie and drove along the Wild Atlantic Way. We had one question: ‘How wild is the Wild Atlantic Way?’ and in this video we will show you what we found.
A great adventure with the three of us. As it was our second overland trip with our dog we had a lot to discover.

Your video is very good, however the wild Atlantic way is too commercialised now, about 20 years ago....it was truly wild and beautiful, and a heaven for free camping, and van life....now its cheaper to go the Europe for 2weeks all inclusive than travel southern Ireland for 5 days!!!....hope you enjoyed your trip around the west coast of Ireland 🇮🇪...I'm Irish by the way!
@@terrybrennan6707 true. Especially the west can be crowded. Donegal is pretty relaxed though!
Beautiful. The first 300 kms of the WAW takes one thru' West Cork well worth the detour. I may be biased however as I grew up there.

@@lewieandtherover Roscoff to Cork ferry allows you discover Brittany along the way. I'm not a dog owner though, so maybe 15 hours sailing time isn't practical.
I'm only a few minutes in and I just wanted to say, from a fellow small-time creator, incredible camerawork and story telling! I think I know where my next adventure may be!

9:18 Kylemore Abbey 9:40 Doolough Valley. 10:02 Dùn Briste 12:09 Pilgrim's Path at Sliabh Liag. 14:34 Bàd Eddie. Phenomenal footage, Sliabh Liag is stunning but Croaghaun cliffs on Achill Island are higher. If you return I'd highly recommend a visit to Inishbofin Island.
Ah we havent veen to Croaghun Cliffs, definitely on the list for next time!

OMG!! I live in Ireland 21 years now. The area around and the peninsula where the Sleeve League cliffs are is crazy wild. Is the best of Ireland. Went there many times and have very special memories. For me, travelling alone, is wild and deep as a mystical journey, there. The North of Ireland is fantastic and fortunately not heavily exploited as tourist destination.

Great video of your time, especially in donegal , being from Donegal we love to see visitors coming to see what we really take for granted, obviously we are not as commercialised as other areas on the west , but Donegal people are very welcoming to both Irish and our international guests , and video blogs are our life blood for tourism, so thanks guys

I imagine it would be pretty amazing as an American for me to visit and see such wonders and beauty but I can't help being even more amazed at the thought of being a dog and doing the same thing. Definitely incredible! Although the US has such amazing places to visit. We are now figuring out and planning to do the pan American highway. Would be a dream for us bringing Lewie and the rover there.

Thank you 🥰 We have a TD4 Bonnet that we installed later. There is a bigger Turbo on the TD5 engine but this isn't the reason for the bonnet. Just for the looks 😛

Slieve League is impressive. Did the road in VW hippie bus with left side steering from Denmark. Will never forget. Crawled to the edge on hands and knees. I asked a person on the way up if it was worth it - she affirmed and boy she was right.
What a great story! It definitely was the highlight of our trip. It feels much more wild and the hike up there makes it even more special ❤️

I am from Donegal in Ireland and studying in Deft, Nederlands. I got quite emotional watching this as my Dutch girlfriend and I drove some of these same roads in my 300tdi defender that I had to leave in Ireland, missing home so much. I can't wait to bring my land rover over here so I can explore more of what this country has to offer.

Very much so. As I am always traveling with kids I prefer to know for sure exactly where I will camp at night, therefore I suppose I enjoy watching the adventures of those who can roam around with no real plan just that little extra. You really found some great spots along the way and of course no Irish camping story worth its salt would sound right or believable without at least one storm ⛈
