I can’t play g major MY FINGERS CANT REACH **UPDATE 10 MONTHS LATER: came back to the same tutorial after months of not playing and I can finally REACH IT!! I’m still so slow when it comes to switching the chords but I’m getting there. Thanks for all the help guys!!

Move your thumb to the middle of the neck, most people like to grip the neck. Unless u got fingers from E.T. it would be hard to reach.

Im in a few months of playing the guitar with no musical experience in the past, And yet i still managed to do it in under 5 minutes.

C W for the two last chords, I’d say instead of strumming it, just pluck the strings you are pressing with you fret hand. Hope this helps

Sweet. I just got a cheap $139 Les Paul from Guitar center to learn on while I’m going alcohol free for 60 days. Tonight I tried this and I can play them just need to get faster. This video helped ! Plus I realized need to trim my finger nails lol it’s hard to play that 2nd chord.

Means you are muting the strings with your fingers accidentally. Try really curling your fingers so your finger tips are pressing onto the neck board.
press the strings till you fingers almost bleed and it will make the sound

If anyone else is having trouble muting/avoiding the a string for the g major 7 and the b major 7, you can try plucking the high E string with your thumb, the D string with index, G string with middle finger, and B string with ring finger simultaneously! I found that "sliding past it" as some people recommend was kind of difficult so this is what worked for me. (I saw jacob collier play it this way on a tutorial so I just copied him LOL)

When you press down on the certain strings to play the cords, are you supposed to strum all 6 of the strings or just the ones you press down on ?

For small hands since you can’t really reach as far, you have to lean on your wrist by now. Make your hands slant while reaching for the chords.

For Gmaj7 how do I skip the 2nd string we don’t play and keep on going with the strings we are supposed to use?
Northern Frost Play the first string with whatever force you normally do, and Right when you get to that A string, Practice to control your strength and stop it and let the pick or your finger slide over it without making its sound, once you get over it you can apply the needed pressure or strength for the rest of the strings, Im pretty sure he deosnt play The high E string Either so

which hand are you talking about? the strumming hand or the chord hand. the easiest way to is to only pluck the strings that you are pressing on and then mute the strings with the strum hand. Hope this helps, if not, i could still try to help you.

For gmaj7 && bbmaj7 where you gotta use your whole finger just use your thumb for the E and it’ll be easier on smaller hand people
