Sir, I really enjoyed your video and narrative for this bending project. As for your old equipment, well I am of the opinion that old stuff is robust and therefore bullet-proof in good hands so it's good gear for sure. Many thanks for the enjoyment in observing your trade and skill set and for the time to share it with us. Gordon, Tumut, Australia
know those are tools ,what a super great shop to have the very best inside . .I,am drooling and wishing those are some exactly like those . the table saw is just unbelievable . i will keep coming back to this site just to see the shop and tools. If I was a multi millionair this how I would spend my money the world over .for my super shop.. thanks you for showing !
Dave you are a jack of all trades and also a master of all trades. If you don't have a tool, fixture or jig, you just build one. Watching you work is so soothing. Thanks again. And God Bless..
what an amazing sight to see, what a master craftsman you truly are.i have been an autobody repairman for over 50 years. i thought i was a fair hand. well i don't know much of anything and i have modern equipment. it has been a pleasure to watch.
I enjoyed your commentary. A very easy to follow description at a nice pace, with no distracting music to confuse the listener. Thank you for a most educational view into your bending procedure. There is little reason for me to know about your wagon hoops, however your way of describing your routine is like a good story with a happy ending. I spent today struggling with putting up mirrors in my house (eventually successfully), and it was nice to unwind with your program.
I had been hoping you would explain how the saw worked. I knew it was old and had watched you do some things on it. I enjoyed you explaining all the things it did. Thanks
Really enjoyed watching the process. This country has emphasized college to young people for so many years and neglected to educate them about the many "skilled" jobs & occupations that one can go into. It's a privilege to what someone that is very skilled as you are doing jobs that many have never seen. This country should celebrate all the skilled individuals that we have.
Watching the video took me back over 60 years to when I last saw timbers being steamed. They were being prepared for fitting to a Thames Skiff in a boatyard at Kingston in the suburbs of London. Great to see these old skills being practised. And yes . . . the saw!
Excellent video! I've seen Don Cornett's steam set up, but he hasn't used it in years. Very interesting process! Wish we could have done this when the Wagon Shop at Dollywood was running! Thanks for the great video!!
I would like to thank you for this video and your excellent teaching skills. Wonderful to listen and learn from. Cheers from a younger woodworker in Sweden
Great! Thanks for posting this. I love your saw, and all of your hand made equipment. It's very different from bending violin ribs, which is what I do!
Sir ..You are A True Expert.. Thank You for Teaching Us On How To Bend Wood... I could easily Say That You Are My Video Instructor, and I will show my Family and Friends on The Social Network Your handiwork..Thank You Again....;);)
Guys I just found aa good website which gives yoooou free_steeeeam_wallet_сaaard_c0des twitter.com/d81c9e2a81b88412d/status/719079525670395904 steam beeending woоd
Looking for something completely different, I found this video... I could not stop watching it! What an incredible amount of work to make such an interesting item - great video - I learned something new!
Thank you what a great shop & trade you have I love that saw I have never seen one before so much better then the tin & plastic one's which are made now Regards Steve UK

Respected Sir you are simply superb Love you sir God Bless you and your family I will be looking forward to see your all creations and I wish you a very special Happy New Year may God brings all your dream true Take care
The circular saw you are using is an excellent versatile machine and if you could buy a modern one of that quality it would cost a fortune. The steam bending was interesting with a very good commentary. Thanks
hello, I've been following your channel for a while, and I built a steam box made with recycled pieces, I was wondering one thing, in the video you say that you don't completely seal the steam box because this creates a wetter and therefore better steam, what do you mean by wet steam ?? while sealing everything creates a dry steam
Very well done. Fascinating table saw. Faye and Egan? That technology of sliding table I thought was brand new. Like on the Felders is it. Anyway great video and work.
Wow what a saw !!!! Like they say They don't make e'm like they used to. Fact !!!!! Ash of all woods I'm very interested in your supply. I was told ash cannot be machined & kiln-dried over 3" over all square. Great video I'm subscribed !!!!! I as jealous love your shop !! Thank you for sharing I've always been interested in steam bending.
Parmeet Singh + Reminds me of the saying of the piano master. When he finnished, a woman hurried up to him and told how she was so moved, and said she would give anything to be able to play like that. He said she might be able to, if she's willing to devote 10 solid hours a day, every week for 30 years.
A man may learn more here in 20 minutes than a college boy might learn in 4 years of `liberal arts' college in 2017. This is no exaggeration. HERE is knowledge.
By stacking the slats when you bend them, will they have a slightly different radius bend? If so, does this matter at all? Just curious. I love watching your videos. I wish I could apprentice with someone like you, ha.
Thank you so much for posting your videos. Awesome table saw! That massive clamp is great. I gotta think it's compression is very uniform, so much so that the boards are stretched in the process? You said the boards are 5/8th, after steam bending them are they still a true 5/8th?
Dave, Excellent steam bending videos. I am a chairmaker that bends quite heavy bows with some varied success. Notes and a question. I really like that you quantify runout. (must be longer that 12 inches to run out one inch). That is the first place I have seen that. I love that your bending rig is vertical to take much less floor space. Mine is horizontal and I am always tripping on it. I may be ready for a redesign. question, when you bend several 5/8 layers, wont the outside have a different radius than the inner. Maybe it doesnt matter to much. Again, great job, thanks, Steve
I stumbled upon this video while looking for information on steam bending wood. I stuck around for the cool, early 20th century tools. :-)
I've been woodworking since 1978, and that's the coolest table saw I've ever seen.

I'm a layman about this craft, but I enjoy watching this, all those tools, all the work dedicated. That saw is an amazing well design machine.

Exactly. I was showing the saw to my wife. They don't build tools like that anymore.
so true
Amazing, and the most genius aspect of your design is that you put the steamer box at shoulder level. Brilliant!
3:44 - it's a beauty! I've seen you use this saw over quite a number of videos - most impressive!
Excellent video! I've seen Don Cornett's steam set up, but he hasn't used it in years. Very interesting process! Wish we could have done this when the Wagon Shop at Dollywood was running! Thanks for the great video!!
