Nice informative video. I had a Volkswagen Beetle who's drain ports were set up the exact same way. Same exact process. Just be slow, and careful with the weed wacker line. If the drain tubes are older, and brittle, the line could puncture a hole in it, and eventually leak water into the car.
Appreciate your attention to details! I always wonder what happens to the water/sand etc that the car picks up while in motion, your tips on removing the wheel well liners definitely helps!
Great video (as usual) my friend! Glad to see that you're still taking care of that Porsche and posting videos. Would be great if you could post one about sunroof mechanism maintenance, I haven't figured that one yet... keep up the great work!
Very interesting. Are there drain holes relating to the aircon condenser? I am getting some fogging from my windscreen vents which suggest there is moisture in there. Not much info around about this, so would appreciate your thoughts.
Hi Scott, please note that the cab has a different set of rear drains. With the top partially open, there should be a drain hole on each side. These drains exit in front of the rear wheels in the wheel wells. I would also check all around the rear wheel wells as well as I believe there are a total of 4 rear drains on the cabs.
Informative video thanks. I have a damp carpet under the left rear passenger seat which is causing mildew inside the car. I will check these drains and the rear wiper plug.
My drain rubber plug inserts have been completely removed in the front battery compartment should this be a concern. Any idea where to purchase replacement plugs.
Truly appreciate your video my friend. I had a serious water intrusion into the cabin of my 09 C4S. Upon tracking it down, I discovered that the drain ports that you've modified have seemingly been removed and only the openings remain. Could this conceivably be the source of my water intrusion? I believe to have an issue as well at the rear as my floor/carpeting is wet behind my passenger rear seat. I have considerable water infiltration at this juncture. Amp, fuse box, wiring corrosion, etc. So far, only the PCM/Amp have been affected. I'm certain more systems will be affected for sure. I was wondering if they're any drain tubes within the A pillars of a Cabriolet to assist with drainage as well? I have a massive undertaking ahead of me & want to resolve any water intrusion issues before I embark on "Project Lazarus". Lol! Thanks much in advance for any insight you can lend or offer in this regard. Rodd
I have a coupe, and the driver side back seat floor is wet, i believe its a drain.. this video is about a drop top. Does anyone know where the coupe drain is located for rear drain that leads into the rear driver side ?
Hi Car fanatic love your videos .I have a questions on another matter if you don't mind. If I install an exhaust similar to your hack on a 2006 997 convertable do they drone on the highways etc I would really value your opinion down her in Australia cheers Peter
Thank you for your diy video! Just cleared and cut the water drains!

I may have missed it as to why/why but I noticed you don't have the EMC2/991 sport lip on anymore? I just ordered it for my car tonight!
I upgraded to the aero bumper instead!
@@CarFanatic is it bad I didn’t even notice

These drain ports are really overlooked by Porsche owners as part of their regular maintenance. Note weed wakker string in UK is strimmer cable.
Thanks Kevin!
thanks for this. I'm sure its very similar on a 996.
Yup, especially since the 997 is mostly based on the 996.
Good one!
is this the same for 991?
I'm not certain but my guess is yes given how similar 911s are.
Part number to the drain port?
Good. Another method is to get hold of thick'ish MIG welding wire. A long piece will reach all the way through.
I would caution against that as it could accidentally puncture the drain hose.
