PetitCorpsSalade Compared to the supra and skyline of its time, they are not much heavier at all. The 3000GTs are way more attainable than a supra and skyline given the number of them they sold so teenagers are much more adept to acquiring these cars which usually gives the platform a bad rep. Also, the fact the 3000gt wasn't featured in fast and furious really took a toll on its potential value in the marketplace
Well, the big difference is that the RB26 and 2JZ engines are known for their reliability... And it's not like they are necessarily well taken care of either :p I own none of those cars, I've got a built CA S13, and a diesel hatchback, and I want a Mitsubishi GTO (3000GT VR-4) because I had one back in the days in Gran Turismo 1, so I'm trying not to be biased :p

the inline six engines from the 325i e46 and up are also quite expensive, my uncle had an e46 328i with an engine leaking. In the Netherlands, the BMW dealer asked around €3-4K for repairing. the car itself was €4K so repairing wasn't worth the effort for my uncle

Except that Soviet workers couldn't actually get them because the Soviets steered most of their production capacity into the military. They were paranoid that the West was going to invade the second they slacked off military production, just like we were paranoid about the Soviets invading. The only winners of the Cold War were the defense contractors.
only if you cant work on them >.> other wise parts are cheap. The saying goes if you weren't a mechanic before you bought a 3000gt you WILL be once you do lol. Labor costs are the issue on the 3000gt since everything is a PITA to get since the engine is transverse mounted. Other then that they are just as reliable as any other car as long as you don't treat like its a "25 year old car)like so many people do.
@@az_3kgt714 Absolutely correct, I have a 3000GT. I knew a bit about cars when I bought it. Since owning it I've had the engine out and rebuilt it, different turbos and other supporting mods required etc etc. If you can't work on cars don't buy one it will kill you. If you do and you don't mind getting mucky they are a weapon and a pleasure to drive. Like owning a rollercoaster.
Make a video about really cheap first cars! That would be just amazing. Because most of the very young drivers can not afford a car that cost that much. Insurance, road-tax, fuel cost en maintaines are so expensive that most teenagers end up with a car that cost around 500 until a 1000 euros/pound. I don't think you will apply, but this is a really good topic I think so..😉🖒
iTryHard nice I've always wanted to drive one of those I have driven and owned the ak si, eg si and ek type r all awesome cars. But seeing the ep3 get on three wheels on a track is a wicked sight. Not 100% on the looks but performance on paper looks like it more than makes up for it.
I bought Honda Civic EJ9 1.4 1998 as my first car, insurance is £2100 a year, and I only paid £448 for the car. Next year my insurance going to go down by 50% (I hope) and I'll do either an engine swap for b16 or get Prelude. Believe it or not, but even my 1.4 has plenty of life in it.
Gotta buy that Toyota 86' Trueno and color it to white, maintenance it, and add that Fujiwara sticker on the side of the car while adding a basswoofer at the back and will start to turn on some eurobeat while I cruise around my neighborhood.
Auto Autopsy Do some research.... A mistsubish sigma has about 200hp... And if you want a car with a sr20 for little to no money you have the Nissan primera... You have the turbo saabs with 200-300hp And a Volvo S60 n S70 all of these cars have more horsepower then the miata... Therefore the miata is never the answer ... Maybe for kids that have never worked on an engine... BTW these are not my favorites just cars that are common in my area...
Here in the states the 90’s Z32 300ZX is an ultimate bargain and the 80’s Z31 even cheaper. Clean examples going anywhere from $1,000 to $8,000 depending on Turbo and trim. I got my 1993 300ZX for $1,500 and have been daily driving it well over a year. Cheers!
This ^^^ Very cheap and was once the most sold sports car. Twin Turbo costs A LOT and getting a one that's also clean and not modded can cost as much as modern day used sports cars. But hey, that's what you pay for a car that was ahead of its time.
Boosted Fool You have no idea !!!!! Here in South Africa none of those 7 cars are below ZAR 200-000. And my salary which is considered "average" isnt even a tenth of that !!
You do get Corvettes here, even if imported. However C5 is a GT car, not a sports car, (at least by European standards) and Z06 and newer Corvettes are lot more expensive.
Miatas are pretty affordable here, you can find a decent one for like 3000 - 4000 euros. 350z on the other hand youd have to pay around 15.000 - 20.000 for one and you'd have to sell everything including your soul to pay the taxes for 3500cc.
^This... You can find pretty cheap mx-5s without much trouble. On the other hand... the 350z... like I just searched the most popular 2nd hand vehicles website in my country and the cheapest 350z I found was a '06 model for 8k like what the fuck xD I won't even bother mentioning all the taxing you'll have to pay every year cause it's 3500cc lol
But... They're not very reliable to be honest. I've owned one myself before and it's powerful and beautiful, don't get me wrong but man! Finding parts for it is a pain, nobody wants to fix it in my area, and it's way too expensive. I'm not hating on the Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth, I'm just saying that they're just a pain for maintenance.
Same deal for Norway, the cheapest 350Z is 20k £ and the s2000 is very rare, prices therefore too high. Boxter: no car guy wants them anyway, but so many overpay for them. Mustang... importing AM enthusiasts would never get that abomination, forget it. (5th gen is a true letdown) 3000gt: WEIGHT! and often poorly maintained M3 E36: roughly 20k £ MX5? well, there's a lot of rice and unfinished projects, but its cheap too. However its the size of a go-karts bigger brother... My car of choice is the 200sx, sometimes you can get early stage project cars for a small handful and easily restore them to road legal standards. (despite norway having some of the worlds strictest regulations)
You have a good selection here in your video. Personally, I would have included the C4 Corvette. Especially the 1996 model optioned with the LT-4 engine & 6 speed manual transmission (96 model being on the upper end of bargain sports car scale I'd say). C4's can be purchased here in Texas for $4k-$20k, depending on all the variables.
Only cars that are trully affordable for the broke dudes like me in this video is a cheap beat up early 90s Miata if were lucky to find one for under 3k and a N/A 3000GT wich can be forund for around 1k to 2.5k depending on how beat up it is.Every other car mentioned is expensive.
Yup lol i got my Dodge Stealth rt for only 1,000 and with just an intake and muffler delete and resognators deleted with straight pipe i whoop Brz’s, and 90’s V8 mustangs lol. But pretty fun car even tho its not nearly as fast as the twin turbo version
You can pick up a mk1 ford focus ST with 170hp from a 2.0 naturally aspirated four pot for £500 in the UK at the moment. I guarantee it'll've been ragged to within an inch of it's life, but for a track or autocross car, I can't think of anything better for the same.
I got a mazda rx8 which now costs £1k - £2k depending on the model's year. Mine was a 2007 model for £1750 in black (black is honestly the best colour for this car) and it had a countless amount of mods on it. It has red rims on the wheels, a red logo and red lights on the side of the doors, the car mostly consists of a black and red theme, it also has a wicked spoiler at the back which completly changes the car's apperance, its black and red, it doesnt effect my driving too much either so dont worry about it being caught by the wind or something. I take it to university almost everyday which is 16 miles from where I live, this means I will use around 6000 miles a year including going to other places other than my uni. The steering is phenomenal and extremely precise, if ur into drifting this is definetly the car for u! Even Top Gear made a review on the car, go watch it, even they compliment the cars steering and end up drifting all around the place, it was a short review but u get to see enough of the car. It goes from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and it can make very loud epic engine ripping sounds, its so much fun to drive it and puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. Its fast (146 mph max), its reliable, its loud, it makes heads turn, it has a unique design and it comes cheap aswell. I havnt had any issues with it since august 2017, its december and it stills runs like how it ran on the first day, as good as new. although the mods on it make it look like a 2017 flashy type of exterior for £1750 I have to say I was incredibly lucky at the time, u may not find the perfect rx8 like I had found but the car is definetly amazing without mods, just make sure the engine is rebuilt and that the buyer knows his stuff about cars, that way u know the car is truly in prestine condition.
Picked up a 92 Chevy Camaro L98 V8 in great running condition and good cosmetic condition recently for $2,300. The paint is starting to chip away and getting it redone isn't cheap, but considering it has little to no rust, drives excellently for now, and no damage to the body work, I think i made out pretty well so far. It also seems old camaros are easy to come by. At least I see them posted often.
You can respray it yourself. Just get an air compressor with a paint gun (200$), and rent a paint booth (50-100$/day where I live), then buy the paint and supplies. Total cost would be around 1000$, expensive in regards with the price of the car (2300$) but sure beats a 3-5000$ professional paint job.
I own two third gen camaro's (love them), the L98 tpi was sadly very anemic for a 5.7L V8. I would look into getting a different intake, headers and bigger exhaust if you want to get some nice power out of it without having to mess with the computer too much, if at all.
stmk2020 the awd and aws was vr4/rttt specific. I don’t remember what the GTO models were because forget japan. But I wouldn’t count on a 3s to be “cheap” with the countless problems the things have.
In the states yes, other markets there was an NA AWD, or it might have just been Japan, can't quite recall which it is. And yeah, the video maker should have specified that only the vr4 and RT/TT have the goodies. In the states the base model, SL, and RT are FWD only and have a 222hp NA version of the same engine, although I believe later year Stealths were downgraded to a SOHC version making even less than that. And yeah, they are a little heavy, but not much by modern standards, considering their features. They're as reliable or more as any other car if maintained properly and taken care of, most of their faults are caused by ignorant or negligent owners. And if you cheap out and buy a basket case, that's what you'll get, but that's true of any used sports car. That said, parts for repairing and or modifying are expensive compared to more mainstream platforms, and harder to come by as well and they can be complicated/difficult to work on as well.
got 1 for 1,200 engine and tranny were good. But someone got the bright idea of "drifting"in the rain with it..and took out of the left side quarter panel with it.. Now its fixed up and drives pretty well for what was a totaled 944 xD
He means on maintenance and repairs, you have to basically pull the engine in order to check or replace the rear bank spark plugs, and that is just the cheapest of maintenance issues. 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag...
@@torkair72torino you are wrong about the rear spark plugs as I own a 1994 GTO/ 3000GT vr4 also as I am a mechanic myself I do all the work myself I have not had a single problem with my GTO over the last 4 years of ownership
In the states you can definitely find plenty of inexpensive used luxury cars like the Mercedes-Benz S550, BMW 645ci, Porsche Cayenne, etc.... for under 10k with higher miles, but the maintenance on those cars when something goes wrong, would be astronomically high!!!
For under 10k dollars I would take a: -FRS (yes it's possible get one that cheap and without any problem, rare but possible, it only applies to the FRS, no for the BRZ or the GT86) -Any Mercedes C class -Audi TT VR6 Quattro -BMW 135i (it's it self an M series, without the body kit and the trim) -Infinity G35 or G37 (personally I like more the G35, but the G37 is a latest model and quite more powerful) -Lexus IS350 -Lexus IS300 mk1 (it has an 2JZ!!!) -Lexus GS300 (it has an 2JZ!!!) Yeah, I know that many of those cars are more like luxury cars than sport cars, but who cares with the power of each one, but personally I would get an Boxster if I have to chose one
Here he is showing 2 uk s2000's. Most s2ks in the UK are rusted out or have a lot of miles on them. To get a semi clean s2k ap1 you are going to need 15k+. (There are also a few exceptions of people in bad financial situations for example, so provided you wait long enough, you might find one
For me it's an M3 or a Subaru Wrx. If I was being unrealistic it'd be a McLaren 720s but since I'll probably never make that kind of money. I don't really like GTRs, they're so overrated.
my first car was gonna be a dodge stealth, my second car was a 350z, 3rd car was a s2000. almost bought a bmw m3 before the 350z. funny to see them all on a list like this.
Get a 300zx (80s models) they r quite cheap under 3k, bought mine for $500 and replaced what needed to be replaced for an extra $750 and now I got a 300zx with 350,000 miles that runs prefect
An s2000 at under 10,000 either has real high mileage or its messed up, in the 5000 range there has to be a lot wrong with it. A decent or good condition Honda S 2000 are between 15 and 20,000+. It all depends on milage and conditions not so much the year. The AP1 which is the first GEN is still pretty much the best as its the one that revs up to 9k.
Idk why everyone's post about the S2000 being $30k USD... I just now 1/29/2020 looked up ones for sale, their average list for sale price is $14k USD, cheapest one I found in the US was a 2005 s2000 roadster for $9k.... The only ones that were over $20k were ones that had 1 owner and below 10k miles, most expensive one I found was $26k, 1 owner, 8k miles on the OD.
I wouldnt touch the Porche or the BMW but the other suggestions are solid. Ive also heard the 3000gt's start to burn oil like a mfer as they age so thats also something to look out for
They are uncommon, there are 3 of them near where I live, red, white, and a black one, never see them on the road cause they are all broken. Real shame cause they are pretty cool
Yeah VR4s are high price if they even run i still want one though or an NA model as a second car to have around these are beautiful cars, used to own 2 NA models but sold them, regret selling my 1992 3000GT SL even though it was automatic.
bmw m3 e96 at 240hp is great at 8-10k usd..forgets to mention a 3000gt SL that has 230hp at the crank can be had for 1.5k-3k usd..and probably weighs less than the m3 as well..SL weighs in at around 3200 lbs. VR4 is a bit of a porker though at around 3,900 lbs. and the SL is a bit more reliable as well since not forced induction.
So many people in the comments need to check their brains and then car prices. Seeing so many people comment about the boxster just because it bears a porsche badge. Even in albania a 986.2s costs 3-4k € at most. People usually go for .2 which is after y2k because older models have some bearing problems that happen at usually 250k km, the other way to tell them is clean indicators, 986 had amber indicators and last but not least 986 is 5 speed, 986s is 6 speed. Just my 2 cents.
The MX-5 is a Kei car, the idea being to create cheap, reliable, economical car ideal for tight Japanese streets. You can find reasonably decent condition examples for £1000, £3000 can bag you a pretty sexy one and insurance isn't terrible. (Before anyone looks up insurance and wants to complain, I'm 22 and have only just got my licence. An MX-5 costs someone my age just £1000 a year, a BMW 318 costs over £1500 per year. A Peugeot 206 costs about £800)
LoL M3 E36 can beat the shit out of that C5 youre talking about. You know, there is something called circuit with corners but i can understand americans dont know what are those.
LOL. You are right us Americans have no idea what a circuit is nor do we have any clue what it's like to take a corner because all roads in America there in a straight line..🙄 I'm not saying that a C5 Corvette will kick the shit out of every vehicle on this list but I have owned both BMWs and Chevy's with the same motors that GM installs in the C5 Corvette, that being said I would love to stuff a LS1 or a LS7 into a M3 that way I know it would be both a Fu$#ing Rocket and the drivetrain actually reliable !! 🖕😂
I live in America and I'd have to say the only one that would really keep up with the same kind of big power would be the 3000GT seeing they can do 1000awhp easy
@@Shuffler131 I remember a C5 vs M3 vs 350Z vs 911 comparo with a "circuit with corners" and even braking from about 10 years ago: the c5 came in first at about 1:36 which is about 4 seconds before the 911 / 350Z / M3 which all came in at about 1:40.

she lied man
At age 19 I had a 12 second 1989 Mustang GT, cost me $4,000 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lexapp yea i spent $1500 for my Chevrolet Lumina 4 door Coupe
I paid 1000$ for a if your lucky 100mph buick station wagon
And then there are bikes $10000 and you get something that can beat a Lamborghini
In my country, everything 10x more expensive -.-

They were made to last and made to be cheap and be reliable on the spot and always ready for soviet workers.
Except that Soviet workers couldn't actually get them because the Soviets steered most of their production capacity into the military. They were paranoid that the West was going to invade the second they slacked off military production, just like we were paranoid about the Soviets invading. The only winners of the Cold War were the defense contractors.
Get a Volga with a V8 in it. That thing's gorgeous.

Telling a broke person to buy a 3000GT is just cruel. They will bankrupt them.
25tab or a boxter. Glad I'm not a Porsche fanatic.
only if you cant work on them >.> other wise parts are cheap.
Make a video about really cheap first cars! That would be just amazing. Because most of the very young drivers can not afford a car that cost that much. Insurance, road-tax, fuel cost en maintaines are so expensive that most teenagers end up with a car that cost around 500 until a 1000 euros/pound. I don't think you will apply, but this is a really good topic I think so..😉🖒
There isn't much to say, it basically just any 90s honda or toyota.
I bought a 2003 tiburon for $2000 CAD or $1322 euro for my first car. It's a fairly nice car and a lot of fun to drive.
I recently bought the Honda Civic Type R EP3 and it's amazing, the handling and power is superb, considering the fact that it cost £2000-£5000
iTryHard nice I've always wanted to drive one of those I have driven and owned the ak si, eg si and ek type r all awesome cars.

Auto Autopsy Do some research.... A mistsubish sigma has about 200hp... And if you want a car with a sr20 for little to no money you have the Nissan primera... You have the turbo saabs with 200-300hp
And a Volvo S60 n S70 all of these cars have more horsepower then the miata... Therefore the miata is never the answer ... Maybe for kids that have never worked on an engine... BTW these are not my favorites just cars that are common in my area...
I've got a modified Saab ;) trust me i know. None of those will offer you the pure driving experience the Miata will at that price point.
Cheers!
This ^^^
Very cheap and was once the most sold sports car. Twin Turbo costs A LOT and getting a one that's also clean and not modded can cost as much as modern day used sports cars. But hey, that's what you pay for a car that was ahead of its time.
i was going to buy one last week for 1.5k but somebody bought it out form under me.

OMNIRADIUS get a corvette if you want a fast cheap car. C6s are all over the web with low miles for about 20k
Not in Europe. You don't get Corvette's here.
If you get them with a slight accident (fender bender) they could easily be cheaper
OMNIRADIUS You are from euro so rx7 in cyprus is under 10.000 euros!
You do get Corvettes here, even if imported. However C5 is a GT car, not a sports car, (at least by European standards) and Z06 and newer Corvettes are lot more expensive.

350z and Miatas are defiantly affordable in the states, insurance is the catch
Is insurance expensibe for those?
@@Rhino5.0 Very. People crash them a lot because people think they're in Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.

I havnt had any issues with it since august 2017, its december and it stills runs like how it ran on the first day, as good as new. although the mods on it make it look like a 2017 flashy type of exterior for £1750 I have to say I was incredibly lucky at the time, u may not find the perfect rx8 like I had found but the car is definetly amazing without mods, just make sure the engine is rebuilt and that the buyer knows his stuff about cars, that way u know the car is truly in prestine condition.
how you talk about your car just tells me how little knowledge you have about cars...
I have an 05, 75k on original engine. Maintenance and Care, one redline every couple of days and still running beautifully.
And you have to buy a new engine every second year....

I agree about the looks anyway, the best thing to do is put the engine, pcm and the rear end of a 4th gen into a third gen!

There are still Mitsubishi 3000GT’s here in the states
well VR4's are rare and are the best ones (and I think are the only trim with AWD)
stmk2020 the awd and aws was vr4/rttt specific.
There all in the Midwest 😎

In the states you can definitely find plenty of inexpensive used luxury cars like the Mercedes-Benz S550, BMW 645ci, Porsche Cayenne, etc.... for under 10k with higher miles, but the maintenance on those cars when something goes wrong, would be astronomically high!!!
In my opinion a coupe should be rwd not fwd
superjaska100 yes
Pretty Sure yep I agree I would only have fwd for hatches
For under 10k dollars I would take a:
-FRS (yes it's possible get one that cheap and without any problem, rare but possible, it only applies to the FRS, no for the BRZ or the GT86)
-Any Mercedes C class
-Audi TT VR6 Quattro
-BMW 135i (it's it self an M series, without the body kit and the trim)
-Infinity G35 or G37 (personally I like more the G35, but the G37 is a latest model and quite more powerful)
-Lexus IS350
-Lexus IS300 mk1 (it has an 2JZ!!!)
-Lexus GS300 (it has an 2JZ!!!)
Yeah, I know that many of those cars are more like luxury cars than sport cars, but who cares with the power of each one, but personally I would get an Boxster if I have to chose one
Good choices!
its the toyota aristo the one that have the 2jz
There's one thing tho, both the is300 and the gs300 have 2jz ge's, not gte's (the twin turbo 2jzs) which doesn't make them that special at all

188 hp 0-60 in 6.7 seconds pretty bad to me now if it was like 6 seconds I would let it pass.
92 to 96 MR2 is a genuinely amazing car to drive.
But Scotty Kilmer says most of these used sports cars are a bad buy.
I got a toyota MR2 for $900 he anit lying TOYOTAAAA
That depends on really what you look for in a car and your knowledge of them. But never the less sports cars are definitely not the best investment.

And it's awesome
VTEC kicked in yo
I thought you said Miata is always the answer
CLUB JDM congrats man :)
Congrats!
the Toyota Celica and Mitsubishi Lancer is a good budget starter cars
3000GT all day and night. Best looking in my opinion.
facts
bmw m3 e96 at 240hp is great at 8-10k usd..forgets to mention a 3000gt SL that has 230hp at the crank can be had for 1.5k-3k usd..and probably weighs less than the m3 as well..SL weighs in at around 3200 lbs. VR4 is a bit of a porker though at around 3,900 lbs. and the SL is a bit more reliable as well since not forced induction.
and the dodge stealth
It’s a trash! Engine sucks
Viral vehicles thank you, i first watched this 1 year ago, this video had inspired me to be a car guy, thanks for the inspiration bro
A Porsche Cayman s 2007 is under 20k so I guess that's achievable
Achievable yes, but not for BROKE car guys. Anything above 8k is not achievable for broke ass spanners.
Blue Neck Media yeah I had to work my fucking ass off to afford my s2k
Have fun paying the maintenance and repair bills on a 10 year old Porsche too. Euro is the last thing you want if you're broke.
Blue Neck Media w
We all have different definitions of broke. I would say the Supra still falls within the broke budget.
this money better is golf R GTI sciroco focus rs a more cars than shit vw bettle !
Really want an MX-5, or an S2000 as a second car to go with my dull Focus.
Haha get a Focus 170hp maybe
The ST 170's are crazy cheap, but having 2 Focus's, even from different generations is a little odd
None of broke
You should see how the "broke" cars go for in price here.
Still looking for the best car to buy when I get my drivers license when I'm 17/18 :)
Think I like the 350Z the most :D
Justo 350z first car? HAHAHAHAHA fat chance.
I hope you like 1.2 corsa c's

7: M3 e36
Yeah.. good luck getting ANY of those in New Zealand for less than $10,000.
Hahaha churr bro
Even that's not to expensive
Here in canada prices for used vehicles are terrible, the cheap ones are rusted to fuck from winters, and the not rusted ones are 10gs+++
Miatas are like 5k on Trade me, or just buy a altezza

Yes it will

The MX-5 is a Kei car, the idea being to create cheap, reliable, economical car ideal for tight Japanese streets. You can find reasonably decent condition examples for £1000, £3000 can bag you a pretty sexy one and insurance isn't terrible. (Before anyone looks up insurance and wants to complain, I'm 22 and have only just got my licence. An MX-5 costs someone my age just £1000 a year, a BMW 318 costs over £1500 per year. A Peugeot 206 costs about £800)
finally something I can afford 😂 thanks viral.
Edit: Where's my loved?, I commented on time...
*Sees his piggy*
*Finds 2$ and 20 cents*
....
Oh no 😏
soz lol missed this one
the cheapest s2000 i could find here in Canada was $24000
In the US you can buy a C5 Corvette for $10,000 and beat the shit out of every car on this list in any kind of race.
@@Shuffler131 ha funny..a corvette will woop an e36 m3 anywhere. Corvette is a rare american car that handles welp
The 90s cellica was epic buddy of mine had one with a turbo on the awd. It was wicked
