Mary Weiss of the Shangri-Las was absolutely gorgeous. Surprised no one tried to make a movie star out of her or maybe they did and it didn’t work out.
In 1964 I was 6-yewars-old. When I was a little girl, Diana Ross used to scare me, she had big hair, big teeth, her eyelashes looked spider legs, I don't know if it was hair that did it because it was poofy, but her head looked too big for her skinny little body. A lot of the girls were big poofy hairstyles, even one my cousin's her hair went to her collar, but on top it was what they called ratted, to me it looked like a messy bird's nest. A few years I did some research on House of the Rising Sun, and the one the possibilities that very well could be true was about a young girl that got caught up in drugs and alcohol in the late 40's early 50's, a real heartbreaking story. None of today's music even comes close to the music of the 50's 60's or 70's, it was pure raw talent back then, you either had talent or you better have had a good day job.
I am surprised you did not cover the 6 Beatles Number 1 hits in 1964. I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND, SHE LOVES YOU, CAN’T BUY ME LOVE, LOVE ME DO, HARDS DAY NIGHT, I FEEL FINE (in Dec). My source was Billboards top 100. They did not list TWIST AND SHOUT. I know most(some) of the songs were recorded in 1963. The title of this clip said #1 HITS of 1964. Very surprised this was omitted.
I hate it when you play the artist/group when they are old. Play it when they were young like we were young. Nostalgia is in the past memories not when the group or artists are old and don't sing as good.
The artificial "aged" effect (video dropouts / snow-like blips) is too much. Is this video about the songs and the artists, or is this video about how a laptop's video editing tool added a filter, non-stop, for nearly 15 minutes? All of the legitimate, unaltered scenes in this video are in pretty good shape. To intentionally make them look bad is disrespectful to the artists, to the people that filmed and preserved these scenes, and to the copyright owners of these scenes. What induces someone to go out of their way to depreciate artwork?
"No one listens to anymore...." Uhhhhm.... Maybe not on your planet, but here on this one, they're still evergreens. Ahhhh but you mean Teenagers..... OK, but are teenagers references to judge the rich heritage of pop music ??? Think about all those silly grimaces they make here on TH-cam while "discovering for the first time" Boston's More than a feeling or Led Zeppelin's Stairway to heaven. It's NOT about discovering music, it's about attracting thumbs up, silly. So, throw out the silly teenagers and twens, and just concentrate on people with an eclectic taste for music. They will have most of these records either on vinyl or CD in their collection. Not knowing them is like claiming you are a car enthousiast, but have never heard of Ferrari or Jaguar.
Define modern music. I'm 64 years old. I don't really listen to contemporary music. For the most part, on the awards shows, probably 98.9 percent of the music or artists I have never heard of. You watch the movies, most of the time when they are trying to set a mood or set a scene up, they use music from this era or at least 15 years one way or another.
Maybe, but anyway look at it it stinks it's inferior, boring and depressing and if you listen to Black rap and hip hop its filled with sex and violence.

"My Girl" is the greatest pop song ever IMHO.
Great clssics!

It’s no surprise that James Jamerson invented that bass line on the spot. He was simply a genius.
Redbone band; "Come and Get Your Love" 1973 on the Wovoka album, and 1974 as a single.
ah what music was to aging ears. Sadly. today's modern music will be remembered and appreciated by those who will grow up 20 years from now.
There's more talk than music.
Might be the best year of classic songs ever.
The narrator reminds me of Jeff Probst on Survivor. Just shut up and let 'em play, dude!

You want Diversity?
No year tops 1964.
No.1's by Louie Armstrong,Dean Martin, and Lorne Greene attest to that.

It does not make the old music better by knocking down modern music. It can stand on its own. It is tiresome to listen all that negativity.
You need to let more of the song be heard....just sayin'
Talking about bout being rude 😢
I.thought.the.beatles.had.more.hit.in.64😮
RAG DOLL ?!?
Yes a great tune, along with the 6 Beatles #1 hits that were missed
Putting down modern music is getting old
