Sullivan Fortner Selects A Steinway Spirio | r for Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club

- Steinway & Sons, makers of the world’s most iconic pianos, announces the addition of a Steinway Spirio | r Model B grand piano to the main stage at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Spirio | r is Steinway’s latest innovation - a high resolution player piano offering live music, on demand, as well as live performance capture and playback.
Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club was opened in September 2021 by restaurateurs and brothers Peter and Michael Labrie as both an intimate musical venue and the most technically advanced jazz and blues supper club in America. It is housed in an historic 1905 YMCA building on Portsmouth’s Congress Street. The building, which underwent stunning architectural restoration, was completely transformed to include state-of-the-art sound engineering and advanced acoustics. The Labrie brothers traveled to the historic Steinway factory in New York City to select their new Spirio | r with the help of Steinway Artist and Grammy Award-winner Sullivan Fortner.

What are YOU talking about? The Spirio is a high resolution player unit invented by Wayne Stahnky, originally call LIVE PERFORMANCE MODEL LX , which Steinway bought exclusive rights to for installation into Steinway Grands. There is no mention of the player in this video or any signs that one has been installed in the piano shown. As a qualified installer of player pianos and installer of a Model LX in my own grand piano I know what I'm talking about. All the best with your new jazz club, Bill
