I live in the Brazilian Amazon. Out here we have a "highway" that is not paved at all in this area. Once it rains, which happens roughly 6 months straight every year, it becomes a huge mess of the likes of spintires with a few overturned roadtrains along the way for good measure. Look for "transamazônica" on TH-cam and you'll get the idea. I once took a 4000km trip along that road on my ford fiesta under heavy rain and survived. Car wasn't too happy tho 😅

The 'antennas' coming off the front wheels are tyre pressure monitors, the antenna bit is actually a cable that runs from the tyre cap into the computer that monitors pressures. This is common in logging and mining as it helps to know if they need to air down in mud or whether their tyres are pumped up enough for the load.

Bolivian road of death called Yungas Rd, did it in a rebuilt Isuzu trooper that had been converted (badly) from right hand drive to eft hand drive... when we started the trip in Coricco in the fog, and halfway thru it started raining and one of the back brakes would lock up when you hit them. They had guys who worked for tips as traffic control. They would park you at wide spots. It is 50 miles long and the only reason to take the road was to go to one of the tiny villages stuck on the side of of the mountain. Internationals usually have Navi’s tar or Cummins engines.

Went to Costa Rica twice back in 2002.
On our first visit I drove from San Jose down Rt 2 to San Isidro then over to the coast to get to a cabina in Uvita. (the coastal highway was just completed)
By the time we got to the coast at Dominical it was night and pitch black.
Turned South and drove along the coastal highway and got to the bridge over the Rio Higueron and saw this HUGE puddle (about 8x10 feet) in the North bound lane on the bridge. Didn't think anything of it because it had been raining.
Came back through there the next morning to hit a restaurant we passed by in Dominical...
Turns out that "puddle" we saw on the bridge WAS A FREGGIN' HOLE.
The water we saw WAS ACTUALLY HIGUERON RIVER TWENTY FEET BELOW.
Needless to say, over two trips and nearly 2000 km of driving (yes, we toured the entire country by Jeep) I grandma'd every. single. mile.

    • @fortnitesworstplayer

thats right, it allows the driver to adjust the tire pressure from the cab of the truck without getting out of his seat. when you get to tough to drive terrain you can deflate the tire pressure to allow more tire surface to make contact and allow for better traction and then when you get on smooth road surfaces you can reinflate to regular tire pressure.

Downside is profitability is horrendous as your drivers actually make negative money and due to lengths of the trips you make enough to keep afloat with truck maintenance and loans.

Very cool you tried a map of my country. The bridges are in case of landslides which are common in these rural dirt roads.

Hahaha Enjoyed watching this I live in Colombia and have ridden that road on a motorbike and it took 4 and half hours to drive, the average time for most trucks is 4 hours 50 to 5 hours for that route. the sand is just a continuous brake, and if it has rained a lot you have three or four waterfalls crossing on top of the road, plus add all the other people on the road going both ways and everyone driving with the me me me attitude. you had a clear road haha if you are able to sim it with traffic it will scare the hell out of you... the Buses slow for no one
if you want to try a normal road in Colombia do the route Bogota to Gacheta if it is availible, the standard real life time for locals is 2 hours 20 to drive an 80km route, non locals about 4 hours. you got from 2600 meters above sea level up to 3500 meters up and then down to 1600 meters above sea level within those 80km. the drop from 3500 to 1600 is over a distance of 40km, and it is all switchbacks and hairpins, i think you would love it

Wow Jeff, That was a hell of a ride. That makes Wolf Creek Pass look like a Scouting hiking trail! Looked like some of the bridges in the old Tarzan movies from the Forties my grandmother used to watch. You certainly earn a good stiff drink after driving a rig on that road. Will definitely be tuning in to see you drive a truck and trailer through all that. Good luck with your dental work. Gonna be blinding us with your big grin when it's all done. Take Care!

When he got on the dirt road it looks like when your driving on unknown mountains in japan (it happened when me and my dad were trying to find a amusement park but somehow the GPS ended up bringing us to a mountain 😂)
