I live in grand Junction and I’m very impressed with the detail they managed to capture in the town, and nearby areas as well! And yes, they do have a lot of one way streets here, the one you drove on when mentioning that was perfectly modeled. It will be cool to see a snow mod considering it has snowed here a few times over the last couple of weeks! (And Yes Jeff you said Montrose right)
Honestly every year is different. And it’s different wherever you live due to the mountains in the state. East of the Mountains, they tend to get a lot of snow. Here on the west side, we either have years with a lot of snow or barely any! It’s still always cold though!
Watched this over my morning coffee, didn't pay attention to where it was. Playing ATS in VR after work last night I hauled a RMD of Milk through here randomly. Didn't realize where I was untill I was a few turns in! Beautiful!
I took a trip to the million-dollar highway from Durango to Ouray this last summer, not in a truck but in an Audi. I am thoroughly impressed with this detail. I was recognizing that same tunnels, mountain ranges, and even some of the houses on the side. This DLC is incredibly well done and I must try it out myself.
I live in rangely Colorado and to see it in this game is so cool! This is by far my favorite video on ATS that Jeff has done, just bcuz it’s so close to home for me, like I’ve driven Douglas pass so many times and to see it in this game, and how realistic and spot on it is, it’s so amazing!
That strange intersection is called a "diverging diamond." Supposedly, it is an alternative to roundabouts, but all they do is confuse and confound. Give me roundabouts any day.
I’m from Durango and know this route like the back of my hand. Pretty accurate all things considered. Of course they had to cut things out for obvious reasons but the things they did put in was pretty accurate! All things considered, Great representation of Southwest Colorado!
My grandpa was a truck driver until he wrecked 2 different trucks in 1 year and I said ur done and he agreed and how he’s working at electrical plant 🙏 thank god for keeping him safe through the wrecks and pain he went through
A good bit of my family including my dad and two aunts live over in Montrose. My dad actually lives just up a hill from the airport. Was more excited than i expected to see it on ATS lol
watching from Grand Junction! Way cool to see how recognizable it is. That crossover intersection by the truck stop is really there! Haha, fun video Jeff keep em coming.
Hey Jeff this summer I'm going to buy one of those little Geo Metro cars that gets like 45 miles to the gallon and I'm roadtriping from Oregon down to Durango to see the narrow gauge railroad there and experience Colorado, a state I've never been to.
You’ll love it haha. I’m from Durango btw. Train is a cool experience and the sights you’ll see are unmatchable 👍🏻. Make sure you drive the million dollar highway, such a great road.
@@friesm2000 shitbox? The geo metro was a really good car and will fetch a pretty penny now. 2 cylinders, simple and easy to work on, small, not a lot of technology to screw up, affordable and close to 50 miles a gallon! Perfect little road trip or commuter car.
@@JakeRoy98 3 cylinders* and 4 cylinders in the Swift..... And shitbox in that it's a tin can, not the most fun to drive, let alone not being the most comfortable for a road trip (a longer wheel base helps on the highway)..... The million dollar road reminds me so much of South Dakota and the black hills. I have a 1996 Chevy truck with true duals turbo tubes out the sides with no cats and the sound bounces out of trees here in Kansas just driving down the road, I can’t imagine going down a road and putting the truck into third or second and not using the breaks and letting the pipes work, that would sound so good with them cracking down the road
Jeff I’ve been watching your videos for several years now, I LOVE five pd btw. I was an OTR car hauler for almost 20 years and I hate how nit picky people are on your videos my last truck was a 2011 Peterbuilt with an Acert Cat and an 18 speed with a Cotrel high side trailer you do a great job I think you could drive a real one with just a little help you are doing a great job keep it up
i stayed in ouray last year and drove that hwy. when i woke up in the morning the mountain peaks were covered in snow. really cool town and scenery in that area.
Very cool to see you going through Grand Junction since that is my hometown!! That truck stop you come to is the Pilot very spot on recreation of that truck stop. You are correct to the right is the Loves Truck Stop. That mural of the Mountains to the right when you first came into Grand Junction is very accurate the is an RV dealership called Centennial RV . Then yes the one way is very accurate the one you are on is called Pitkin Avenue. The park on the left hand side is known as Bum park where all the transients hang out. The to the North West is the Grand Junction police station. All spot on recreation. Then when you get into Montrose and yes you said it correctly. Yes that is Montrose Regional Airport. Then when you got to Main Street and the statue to the left is a a spot on recreation of the Tribute to the Cowboy. I am a delivery Driver and I have drove a 26' box truck on the Million Dollar Highway or "Red Mountain Pass" to the locals. That very first thing when you come out of Rangly is Douglas Pass with all the switch backs.
This is such a cool video to me. I love these videos, especially because i live right in a small town where highway 160 and 84 meet. It’s east of durango!
For me as non American, Colorado looks beautiful. SCS did some good work. The WesternStar truck has on both sides blinker light in the mirrows since 1.39 update.
From 9:30 this section of road reminded me of the film Duel when he was being chased up the hill but it was all really slow, the dull engine noise that the truck made was very similar.
If you want to see a cool Australian stretch of road that is somewhat similar, and narrower, shrouded entirely in Forrest, look up the black spur in Victoria... its on the maroondah highway
My fav thing to listen to are real realtime local radio stations via the ''Koen's Local Radio for ATS/ETS2'' add-on. I will never stop advertising for that. :))
“Driver” is modeled after Pilot & Flying J (same company). “Hearts” is modeled after Love’s. Having been to GJ, they modeled that Pilot perfectly. I hate going to that Pilot IRL. I’m surprised they didn’t include the TA at that exit, or anywhere in the game.
@34:30 that town is Ouray and you say it like your-a and i love that little town me and my family vacationed there a few years back and rented jeeps to take on the mountain trails there! also little known fact if you watch the Netflix series The Ranch, Ouray is the little town that's in the opening scene of the show!
I was in the national guard and had to drive from Denver to Alamosa for the weekends. Would wake up around 0130 to get to formation around 0600. Thats a brutal drive especially once your on 160 to wolf creek pass.
The one way split road in junction is spot on They do that to increase capacity without buying and knocking down property. Can’t believe how close they got the look and feel!
"This is a stretch of guardrail-less highway on the San Juan Skyway between Silverton, Colorado and Ouray, Colorado. It seems the origins of the name "Million Dollar Highway" are up for debate. It is thought that a million dollars worth of gold and precious minerals were paved over when creating the road" Thats what I found. As always, great video.
Another story we use to tell is that it cost a million dollars to build and a million dollars worth of gold and silver were taken down the road. I use to live in Ouray.
I'm actually from Montrose Jeff I love that you went through there it is modeled so we'll it's awesome the airport was cool to see and you went straight through the heart or Montrose down Townsend that was awesome
What a cool video, thanks Jeff! Nice truck and a great run! I look forward to seeing that runaway truck ramp test video! By the way, nice setup! Thanks again for the cool video!
Yaay i am definitely going to pick up the dlc when it comes out and the game your videos are so detailed and i love it you are so likeable love you Jeff
Jeff not sure if this has been mentioned already if it has sorry for the repetitiveness, but when you do a External Contract the expected delivery time is real time not in game. That's why you didn't get a late. :)
The incident with the car that ran the right on red is exactly why when I got my actual CDL my instructor always told me to stop so I can see the stop line ahead of me. Gives myself time to react if someone does run a light
The hearts(loves) is accessible when you make a right turn at the light, go to the end of the road and make another right. Its almost exactly the same IRL as the game. That flying J can be kinda weird to navigate when its busy.
Drove a 10 speed for about a year before, never used lowest gear for moving, always used 2nd if loaded or 3rd if empty. Only used 1st gear when I was starting uphill on a light. I really hated those.
That truck stop near the airport you found at 30:17 is real! I stayed there in my semi one night. The parking spaces back right up to the gate to the airport. The building is remarkably similar in real life even down to the restaurant placement and color scheme. Montrose Travel Center
I have a feeling the reason they're taking as long as they do to map the states, is they're actually researching/driving the areas and recreating it as memorable/realistic as possible. The areas around Redding/Fresno/Sac in CA are very realistic to their real life counterparts.
I think I either have the New Mexico DLC, or the Colorado DLC, either way I cannot wait to get all the bits you yourself have to play the Colorado DLC. Now all I need is a computer to run it! Haha. Forgot to add, if I were you on that mountain going down, I’d go full speed and just hit the ramp. I would straight up wolf creek pass this here mountain, hopefully not fly off a cliff.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the scenery in ATS seems to be a lot more natural and "normal" than that on ETS which I play. There seems to be shops in the small towns and actual brands appear from time to time. I still enjoy ETS but I'm drawn more and more to buy ATS. Great trip!
