This week we are lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour of the Whites factory in Albury. Matt, the factory manager takes us through the manufacturing of barbed wire, chain link, hinge joint and "Stiff Stay" mesh. We get to see the advancements in manufacturing that allow new fence configurations and custom orders to be manufactured, along with standard lines. Matt's passion for manufacturing and improvement have also seen the factory become more sustainable and efficient to allow Whites to manufacture a quality, competitive product in regional Australia.

Good to see an Aussie company doing so well.
It's something that isn't going to stop being in demand so hopefully they stay producing for a very long time.

Thanks Tim and Whites for letting us see that. Big money in those fancy machines, I'm suprised how small it was, obviously not a huge demand for wire here in AU. or do they have other plants elsewhere?

Ok good to see you guys using some of our old machines, now I've thumbs Up so can I have some top end long gap goat fencing please.
Oh and please do the video on how the goat fence works
"stand back and throw a bucket of water at the fence, walk round the other side to see how many goats would have got through".

Where the feed wire is made before it is knitted up into prefabricated fencing is crucial. The Australian made feed wire is a lot better than the imported stuff.

We’re do you get your formers, of galved wire from?

Great clip Tim. Where does the actual wire come from?

Wire is a global market of multinational producers. Some I saw was Australian but also Indonesia, etc etc. All of it complies with Australian standards and is tested. Simple fact is that a family company can’t afford to build a smelter and there is not enough capacity in Australia to meet demand.
