It's good to see Goffin win against Zverev and finally playing some good tennis again after a few rough years. When he takes the ball early, with his quick footwork, he is a very good player. Elegant, humble, and just goes on with the match.
What happened with Goffin all this time? I haven't seen him in ages, thought he'd retired.

Goffin is maybe 5 foot 10 and doesn't look physically imposing, but he has been one of the most intelligent and skilled counter punchers on the tour the last 15 years. When he is at his best, he can give almost anyone trouble.
No, he really hasn’t . He has been more a journeyman than anything . He has not figured at all when it comes to major tournaments. His career has been disappointing to say the least. Why exaggerate it ?

I am so happy for David. He walked through a deep valley outside the Top 100, played Challenger Tour etc. He stayed focused and with his wife he is happy about their 3 week young daughter. He is such a kind and correct guy. Complete opposite of the arrogant Zverev. Looking for his reasons again why he lost. Diabetes again or the balls were to much yellow!

Man I'm just so happy to see Goffin playing this well again.. He has always been an underrated player, but he when he is on, he can beat literally anyone. He is also very humble, respectful and probably my favorite player on tour rn. I truly hope he can win a big title before the end of his career!

It wasn't broadcasted anywhere the game between Musetti and Goffin cause they had to play it indoor in a random tennis court with no camera, the Giron game wasn't put into highlights for some strange reasons.
The same thing happened in the match between Rune and Tabilo; it was one of the strangest matches I’ve ever seen in my life. Tabilo clearly didn’t want to play; he had very strange body language, and at the same time, Rune was also acting very strangely, apparently very exhausted. In fact, in the second set, he even limped and had an expression of intense pain, struggling to walk because of it. But miraculously, in the third set, he returned as if nothing had happened. It was at the Tokyo Open; they posted other matches, but they mysteriously left this one aside. I wonder why?

Something happened to Zverev after he lost to Alcaraz at the RG final, he is not playing nearly his best tennis for some time now
He got injured at Wimbledon. Was playing brilliant at Wimbledon until injured his knee and that took time to heal.. Then he was sick starting in Hamburg and coughing. He was sick in July in Canada and said in match against Korda he could not breathe and not until playing half dead with high fever and throwing up and could barely breathe at Laver Cup he was diagnosed with pneumonia and hospitalized. Only took off one tournament in China Open and had not fully recovered before coming to Shanghai. He also has type 1 diabetes so takes longer to recover from infection. He clearly came back to play too soon. But some people just want to distribute hate.

I think it is beyond what you say about his physical conditioning, and I don't think he played brilliant at Wimbledon (I do think he played brilliant at the RG and at the Rome open, maybe excluding the game against Tabilo and generally he had a brilliant season overall).
@@omersimhi6760 I did not at all mean you were spreading any hate. A bunch of other comments. Many people write extremely hateful stuff about him. He admitted recently he gets online death threats and even death threats against his mother because some people still falsely believe in the accusations that were never proven with evidence which resulted in Zverev winning defamation suit and the second one the charges were dropped when actually came to trial and accuser agreed to joint custody of their daughter.

Goffin suprised everyone with his presence in this noteworthy tournament. He was level-headed and calm throughout the entire showdown. His experience enables him to compete with self-confidence within this stage.
As a huge Alexander Zverev, I would like to congratulate the professional Belgian tennis competitor due to his diligence, ambition, aspiration and perseverance.
Never count out Goffin. Hella composed. Gets the job done when the opportunity comes around.

Time for Zverev to get a rest when you lose 2-0 against Goffin, last time they played Zverev crushed him 3-0 at Roland Garros it was an easy game, today Zverev lookd bad, tired, he played like a 100 ranked player it was not a top 3 player performance, even Giron won 1 set against Goffin. Zverev was playing at 60% or 70% at best. You need to listen to your body and rest for the London finals.
Zverev is a problematic player who has both on- and off-court issues.
He has no time to listen to his body, he spends too much time looking at it.
Goffin played at a much higher level than during the RG game. Zverev didn't play bad yesterday, he was just outplayed.
Goffin beats the No. 2 seeds. How is Zverev better than Alcaraz in the world Ranking? Alcaraz with 2 Slams (RG, Wimby) should never be behind Zverev (who wons 0 Slams) this Season.
Hope Alcaraz can win or be in the final, then we have a POSSIBLE Sinner-Alcaraz Match in Final at Paris-Bercy. Both should never be in the same half, with their Tennis skills
Alcaraz loosing against Van de Zandschulp at the US open. He lost there a loads of points. That's why.
Zeverev played more and was more consistent over the course of the year in ATP500 and ATP1000 than Alcaraz. Nothing surprising even if I of course totally agree that Alacaraz had a much better year than Zverev. I think he is just being very smart not to prioritize ranking but instead focus on staying healthy and motivated to play his best when it matters.
Is the umpire the reason you lost this match as well Sascha?

Just a quarter step slow and Goffin was all over him like white on rice. Sensational tactics and rushing Zverev with greatly timed approach shots and net play. He reminded us just how deadly he is, so much so that he defeated a decent Berdych with a double bagel and even took down the big 3 at one point during the peak of his powers.
I never thought he would comeback... french here and i saw him play in OA and he was rinsed. not happy to play anymore, very grumpy. he was beaten by Humbert that i was supporting with a rowdy french crowd against him. i love him even if he beat our asses in Davis cup.
Somehow I have always admired Goffin. He is always deeply motivated. That is intimidating. 👍

Only months ago Goffin was struggling on the challengers. The depth in the game is really nuts. The only solid bets are Sinner Alcaraz, Medvedev and (sometimes) Djokovic

Very impressive performance from Goffin who just made it impossible for Zverev to play his game. Top level attacking tennis, worth of a Top 20 player on a good day. It's amazing what difference a few months can do with the right focus, mindset and belief.
Considering that Goffin started his career late, has a game style that is smooth and therefore not as demanding for the body as others and was away quite some time due to injuries, his 33 yo is actually closer to the 29 of other players. He has the potential to play great for another 3-4 years easily.
Goffin is not to be messed with . He double bagels Tomas berdych ,he also beat nadal of all people. Don’t sleep on the guy.

Wow, Goffin i didnt saw that coming. But Sascha needs major change, despite his many match wins. He also plays every week, but barely makes any finals (RG was great, Hamburg final ok)
Zverev could have been so much more, had he worked on his game (net, especially) and had he worked on his mental resilience. His game is sometimes excellent. But true excellence comes from regularity and the endeavour to constantly improve.

Only a few guys on the tour have good overhead. It's embarrassing to watch guys of this caliber fail at one of the easiest shots in tennis, especially the ones shown in this clip by Zverev.

It sounds like an upset...but Goffin was a World 7...in 2017...and just a few issues now if he plays as well if not better he can even win this tournament...Upset is only on Paper..The tennis he played...was attacking and exposed a world no 2 or whatever..Headlines need to revisited if not it becomes stale...Goffin is not somebody who popped up as a new suprise wild card...He just is a seasoned Pro..I have a tingy feeling he may get to the finals and even win one..
