Did mayday parade really comment on this? If so i hope it was sarcastically. Mayday is the saddest band ive ever heard. 18 years later they finally let go of katie and feel good about themselves.

I'm not okay simply because I can't believe they are gone... I wish nothing but the best to the guys, but I already miss them with my entire heart. Long Live As It Is
My mom introduced me to Good Charlotte and Green Day growing up. She bought me my first guitar and encouraged my dreams of becoming a musician. I work in a "boring" field now, sitting at a desk and clicking my mouse a bunch of times every day, but I still want to get into music prod once I have the time/can afford to invest seriously. Thanks mom. I miss you.

Also a '91 baby like Patty and honestly, the references and the feel of this hit so close to home right now. I discovered this song in an airport on my way home from seeing my grandma just days before she passed just before New Year's, and I'll be using so much of the music this references during this healing process, like I always do. A girlfriend of mine passed years ago in a car accident right after we listened to a bunch of The Used while getting high in my car just a day or so prior. This music is so engrained in my soul and it makes this song just hit so different nowadays. I miss 2003 as well, and nothing is gonna stop that anymore, because no one was there for me like NFG or MCR or The Used or Mayday Parade or Dashboard.
Holy shit the amount of references to oldschool songs though - Welcome To My Life, Complicated, I'm Not OK, to name a few - you boys have outdone yourselves, this absolutely rules

Crazy how fast we grow and move through life.
I like how this song, on the surface, is about missing the "good ol days" but, you could almost interpret it as a losing a loved one (to death, or breakup) in 2003 song at the same time. Music is wonderful.
Also... "Tell me that you're all right (Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is Alright) Because I'm Not Okay (My Chemical Romance - I'm not okay), I left the best of me (A Day to remember - Best of me) In 2003" Not sure if this was on purpose to pay homage to the oldies of emo-ish bands but, just something I couldn't help but notice! Again, Music is wonderful.
I was 15, miss every second of this. Im now a father of 4, army veteran, married for 15 years. Its been a long ride so far and I have many miles left. But if I could go back for 1 day just to see why it was so great, I would in a heart beat. We all get older and will all breathe for the last time, but nothing will ever smell as sweet as our youthful days. This song is amazing.

I never looked back. To this day emo isn't dead and it's not a phase, it's a lifestyle and I am who I am because of it. I love this song!!
It's honestly kind of scary how fast the 2000s are becoming further and further in the past, very soon teens won't remember that time at all and that makes me sad ): Before everyone including little kids were always on their phones, video cameras were still around, people had separate phones and cameras, subcultures weren't all online, sorry I sound like an old man but honestly those really were the good ole days for me even though I was young.
I was just 10 in 2003. I assume anyone younger than me (28) barely remembers the 2000s. To a kid, that time probably sounds ancient or seems like it would be several decades ago with all the tech we have now, but it was just 14 years ago.
Some of you may miss 2003 but God misses you more than anything else in the world. He wants you back and all you need to do is to pray to him. Jesus is coming back soon so there is not much time to do this. Please consider. God bless 🙌🏼 🙏🏼 ❤️.
You may miss 2003.. but I miss 2013, discovered band like you.. as it is, dial tones.. heard new bands like pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens.. mayday parade new album, monster in the closet.. banging to All Time low's Don't panic.. Listening to sad boy bands, Real Friends, Knuckle Puck.. that year on 2013, having great time with my highschool crush, bought my first bass guitar.. lot of memories in 2013.. thanks for being there for my teenage years..
This totally sounds like it could have been written by A Day to Remember. Especially that pre-chorus, it sounds JUST like them. It doesn't help that Patty's voice has gotten deeper over the years, and is starting to sound a lot like Jeremy. Not a criticism, just an observation. This is awesome. I like it a lot.
@@shnicegaming I don’t think it is, I’m pretty sure it’s just the way that the combination of patty’s new, deeper vocal style, combined with ronnie’s backing vocals, sounds together
Every time I hear this song, I have it full blast much to my husbands dismay! This is the song I'm singing at 4 in the morning at the top of my lungs! This is also the song that got me into As It Is. and I'm hating myself because their whole discography is gold! I'm a late bloomer, but this band means so much to me nowadays! Just hate they aren't touring anymore 😞
I hope you guys realize that you really brought back the feeling your talking about missing, I missed 2003 too and I realized why one night while on mushrooms and listening to you…..we lost that rebellious nature and the need to be noticed, I’ve been able to bring that back out of me again and even helped cure my depression and lowered my anxiety cuz of that revelation and was even able to start getting sober all because of that revelation. I love you guys stick around please we’ve lost so much since 2003 let’s get it back
I can't get enough of this song and 44 years old at 2022 and 2003 being the year I was married, I look back at everything and realize that things are just as good now as they were then.REALLY!!l
@@jessymfwilson I'm flattered you would do that just for me. "I miss it too." " I just graduated high school." 😳 punctuation makes all the difference sweetheart.
Musically, I love the mix of the sound of 2000s emo and pop punk with the current sound of the scene. Paying homage to the past while creating something new.
You guys are keeping that 2003 sound alive and well! You know it’s a damn good tribute too when NFG gives you props too. Miss those days but as long as new bands like you guys are keeping that vibe alive, they’ll never be forgotten.
I miss 2007. That was when I bought my first pop punk cd and really started listening to harder music. Had to find myself from age 20-26 but now I’m finding out I missed A LOT of amazing music including As It Is. People who say it’s just a phase are wrong. It was never a phase!
- "oh, what a cool track" *starts searching for all the references* - "dammit this track is amazing" This is probably going to be your best album guys. Fucking keep it up. ❤️🔥
I was blasting The Ataris - So long Astoria album the other day and someone went up to my car and started to sing the lyrics from a song I was playing. I felt amazing for the rest of the day. The small group of kids who listened to this music made such a big impact on my life and still does.
Look I was like 2 in 2003, but this still makes me miss the early 2000's. Everyone was right when they say you shouldn't grow up to fast. While I don't miss school, I really do miss when I could just go to the park, have fun, make friends easily, and have not a care in the world besides when lunch was haha
When you've been supporting Patty/As It Is for so long you tear up at Best Of Me being part of the chorus cause it's the first song he learned on guitar
I was only in 3rd grade in 2003 and yet I remember that was the peak of coming across all these various pop punk bands and I was hooked. 27 now and this shit slaps 🤙🏻
Yeah I was born 1995 and I was about 8 or 7 years old in 2003 and in like 2nd or 3rd grade, I was really young in 2003 but I still remember some of it, alot of things in Life and the World were better back then, People were nicer and got along and talked to each other and were not glued to their phones or computers all day, There wasn't as much division in politics and culture, the economy was better, there wasn't as much violence , crime, drugs stuff like that, the Early to Mid 2000s and even before that 1990s for people who are old enough to remember were truly good times, alot of things both in my Personal Life and also the World in general started going downhill around the time I was 13 or 14 years old in the late 2000s all the way until today and some of them have never recovered, but then again one day when It's like 2030 people will say they miss the 2010s and 2020s so its hard to say, people just be happy nice to each other and be thankful for and appreciate everyday
Would kill to see them I had tickets however ended up not being able to go as I am too ill due to many illnesses including cancer to go by myself isnt allowed. It is on my bucket list I hope they come back, anywhere near PHX or Scottsdale. This song has helped me so much it's crazy I know they will never see this but, I still hope they know how thankful I am for the music it has helped me to want to survive which is hard given my medical crap.
The early 2000’s were pretty much better in every way. Trends were cooler, music was better, there was just the right amount of technology where it wasn’t overkill, social media didn’t tell everyone what to be offended by, I mean the list goes on. All my opinion of course lol.
My friend shared this song and as soon as I heard it I started to tear up. I was 13 in 2003, it's the year that my mom passed away, so the lyrics really got me. Thank you for making this 😭😭❤️
For someone who exclusively listens to metalcore, deathcore, and death metal, I must say that this song is an absolute banger. That pre chorus is so damn catchy
*Lyrics:* I've been feeling old and out of context And if I'm really being honest I miss everything I had at sixteen Now I'm feeling miserable at best I guess that's what you get when your dirty little secret Is how I miss the year that gets me So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003 Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up Still four in the morning, Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003 I'm in the middle of a crisis Welcome to my life, no I don't think that I like this I can't believe I got this jaded (got this jaded) I remember singing to "The Anthem" My friends were the best, wish I knew it when I had them 'Cause now it's kind of complicated So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003 Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up Still four in the morning, Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003 I'd drive through every red light just so I could press rewind (We'll go back in time) So let me kill the headlights, maybe if we close our eyes (We'll go back in time) I'd drive through every red light just so I could press rewind (We'll go back in time) So let me kill the headlights, maybe if we close our eyes (We'll go back in time) So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003 Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up Still four in the morning Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay I left the best of me in 2003
Listening to this song, basically on repeat lately.. I'd have to say I miss the year 2010.. Im school I had the opportunity to graduate an become a hotel business manager. I got several abused in the head I started having seizures an haven't been the same since, so this song hits home for me!!
The homage paid to all these different bands (before I even knew what the song was about) gave me chills when I caught them the first time listening. This deserves so much love guys!!
Bro I graduated in 2003!! I do miss those days!! Just discovered you today, subbed and came straight to the comments to see if anyone else thought of New Found Glory when they heard this!! 😅 Keep rockin on my guys!!
This is such a great song and it captures the period of time perfectly, through reference and sound. I think the world itself misses 2003, things were much simpler back then, everything has got a little weird the last 10 years or so! There’s a lot of good nowadays but I think the damage social media has caused, the divide through politics and the pandemic has made a lot of people feel more alone than ever. Thanks for the music lads, it keeps us a community!
This damn song gets me every single time. Those were the best years of my life. I will ALWAYS be a punk rock/emo kid until I die. The nostalgia is this song is out of this world.
I can’t stop listening to this song! It’s so damn good! I love the numerous references within the lyrics! This song takes me back to a time when I was a teenager and life was so much easier. Life was calm and the worst thing I had to worry about at the time was how late I was gonna stay up. This song is a much needed escape for me at a time when my life is kind of heavy at the moment. Thank you guys for this absolute masterpiece and for all of the music through the years. 🙏🖤🖤
I’ve lost too many friends for various reasons. I struggled with addiction, alcoholism, depression and anxiety since I was 14. I have tried to take my own life three times in the last ten years, the first at only 20 years old because the girl I was supposed to marry who I had known since 2003 overdosed. I recently just left my hometown, and everything I once knew behind to try and find a life somewhere else and my 9 year old cat died during the move…. I found this song yesterday with tears in my eyes, while considering drowning myself in the pond behind my home. This song may have saved me. It’s Music like this that keeps me going every day, that keeps me on this planet grinding even when everything is going against me. That reminds me I’m not the only one that hurts and wishes they could go back to when things were simpler. Thank you - A new lifelong fan
2003-2004 I was a Junior in HS. So many badass things happened that year. Dated a girl that changed my life to this day. No I didnt marry her, nor did our relationship last through 2005. But she will always hold a special place in my heart. I was a SAVAGE skateboarder too
I feel exactly the same. I've always listened to all different types of music being a musician, but I've never really 'grown out' of anything. If you liked it then, the chances are you'd like it now because it was awesome in the first place or nostalgia. UNLESS you listened for reasons other than the music. I still listen to ALOT of early pop punk and love it ( Homegrown anyone ) and newer stuff like Greyscale and still follow alot of those bands like NFG who are so consistent it's crazy. It's sooo catchy and the hooks, melodies and vocals are like amped up super catchy pop. I recognised many references in this. Loved the first two As it Is albums and looks like this one too. Really keeping the torch alive.
I'm about to turn 18, on November 14th. It's actually nuts that 2003 was that long ago. I'm simultaneously really young compared to others (especially the ones that reminisce on those days) but also basically an adult.
I'd kill to go back in time. This song feels so close to back when I first heard you guys. It's not Blenheim Palace but the "Okay" reference was appreciated. It quickly became one of my favorites of you guys.
Patty, don't cry, I know you're trying your hardest and the hardest part is letting go...of 2003. 💔

As a 28 year old, I totally feel you bro haha. Once upon a time, people were people. iykyk
Some of you may miss 2003 but God misses you more than anything else in the world. He wants you back and all you need to do is to pray to him. Jesus is coming back soon so there is not much time to do this. Please consider. God bless 🙌🏼 🙏🏼 ❤️.
I love how this song is meant to give love to the scene. It's good to know bands like these never forgot where they came from
You may miss 2003.. but I miss 2013, discovered band like you.. as it is, dial tones.. heard new bands like pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens.. mayday parade new album, monster in the closet.. banging to All Time low's Don't panic..
@@shnicegaming it is? I guess that explains it. You’d think he’d be credited in the title, but I guess it’s a pretty small part though, so idk
@@shnicegaming I don’t think it is, I’m pretty sure it’s just the way that the combination of patty’s new, deeper vocal style, combined with ronnie’s backing vocals, sounds together
I was litterally just thinking that while listening haha I love ADTR so much haha
I think the chorus sounds similar to the verse of "only money"
I thought the EXACT same thing!! Even had to check that the song didn’t feature Jeremy McKinnon
Heard thus song for the first time yesterday.
I must have played this song over 100 times. No word of a lie.
I miss it too. I had just graduated High School. One of the best summers of my life.
Damn Old asf
How does it feel
You miss 2003 and graduated high school last year? I miss 2003 for the same reason this song explains because I was in high school in 2003...
@@fabreeziohginn-okie3688 I was referring to 2003 sorry you couldn't comprehend. I edited it just for you. English not your first language?
@@jessymfwilson I'm flattered you would do that just for me. "I miss it too." " I just graduated high school." 😳 punctuation makes all the difference sweetheart.
@@fabreeziohginn-okie3688 🤣 Okay.
Musically, I love the mix of the sound of 2000s emo and pop punk with the current sound of the scene. Paying homage to the past while creating something new.
This chorus is everything ADTR sounded like before they stopped caring. I love it.
"Tell me that you're alright, 'cuz I'm *not ok"* That hits deep.
This sound is part of what I miss most about mid-2000's, so thank you!
2003 truly was a good year for me.
- "oh, what a cool track"
*starts searching for all the references*
- "dammit this track is amazing"
This is probably going to be your best album guys. Fucking keep it up. ❤️🔥
The Great Depression was their best come onnnn
I was blasting The Ataris - So long Astoria album the other day and someone went up to my car and started to sing the lyrics from a song I was playing. I felt amazing for the rest of the day. The small group of kids who listened to this music made such a big impact on my life and still does.
I have looped this endlessly for about 3 hours now and I just can't stop!!! So good!!!
I was a 05 baby but I still know most of the pop punk stuff and I love it because of one artist that recently released a album that was like pop punk
Wow, this song hits hard on the feelings and deep in the soul, almost brought me tears!🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
This song just appeared on my Spotify discover weekly and I can't stop listening to it.
I was only in 3rd grade in 2003 and yet I remember that was the peak of coming across all these various pop punk bands and I was hooked.
27 now and this shit slaps 🤙🏻
Same. I turned 8 that summer and it was the year I became obsessed with the scene unfolding.
I wasn't even born yet in 2003 lol
Same lol 27 and feeling it!
The world needs more guy vocalists with eyeliner!! So happy we have As It Is!
I'm born in 2005 but listening to this makes me
wonder what its like in 2003, and it also makes me wish I was born earlier
You'll have the best times of your life in 2003. I miss 2003 man.
Best year
The early 2000’s were pretty much better in every way. Trends were cooler, music was better, there was just the right amount of technology where it wasn’t overkill, social media didn’t tell everyone what to be offended by, I mean the list goes on. All my opinion of course lol.
Me too
This song is underated...you miss 2003... I miss 2014..what a year
Love this and I'll agree 2003 is when I just got into the music that I still listen to, to this day 🖤🤘🏻
My friend shared this song and as soon as I heard it I started to tear up.
Yes.
Wish i can go back to those days man. Chilling with the homies not a care in the world. Good times.
*Lyrics:*
I've been feeling old and out of context
And if I'm really being honest
I miss everything I had at sixteen
Now I'm feeling miserable at best
I guess that's what you get when your dirty little secret
Is how I miss the year that gets me
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up
Still four in the morning,
Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
I'm in the middle of a crisis
Welcome to my life, no I don't think that I like this
I can't believe I got this jaded (got this jaded)
I remember singing to "The Anthem"
My friends were the best, wish I knew it when I had them
'Cause now it's kind of complicated
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up
Still four in the morning,
Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
I'd drive through every red light just so I could press rewind
(We'll go back in time)
So let me kill the headlights, maybe if we close our eyes
(We'll go back in time)
I'd drive through every red light just so I could press rewind
(We'll go back in time)
So let me kill the headlights, maybe if we close our eyes
(We'll go back in time)
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
Now life is boring, let's write a story where we never grow up
Still four in the morning
Singing New Found Glory at the top of our lungs
So tell me that you're alright, 'cause I'm not okay
I left the best of me in 2003
Listening to this song, basically on repeat lately.. I'd have to say I miss the year 2010.. Im school I had the opportunity to graduate an become a hotel business manager. I got several abused in the head I started having seizures an haven't been the same since, so this song hits home for me!!
This is one of the best songs A\\ have ever released. Absolutely massive chorus, and filled to the brim with hooks. Love it.
AS IT IS was the only band that kept me alive during quarantine so I wouldn't lose my mind in depression thank you Patty and the guys
Didn't discover pop punk till 2017 when I was 17, so a little late to the party lol. Only 3 in 2003 🤣🤣 don't really wish I could go back
The homage paid to all these different bands (before I even knew what the song was about) gave me chills when I caught them the first time listening. This deserves so much love guys!!
Bro I graduated in 2003!! I do miss those days!! Just discovered you today, subbed and came straight to the comments to see if anyone else thought of New Found Glory when they heard this!! 😅 Keep rockin on my guys!!
Same here. Class of 2003!!
I was 17 yrs old in 2003 listening to Blink 182, NFG, Simple plan , Avril, Green day and graduating high school Miss those friends and good times
Just came across this, I'll just be here day dreaming the rest of the day ❤️🩹
Just found this song, and I'm not ok.
It's going on a loop while I relive life at 25.
I love the "fuck, I miss 2003," at the end. 😂
Holy moly this brings me back and so much joy haven’t rocked out this much and LOVE all the references
Gosh loved and treasured everything in 2003 and on and took it for granted that time thinking early 2000’s was going to last forever
Can't wait for the new album
AS IT IS still sounds good
There's so many beautiful references in this song, I can't 😭🖤
The drum beats from 0:48 are from "Sugar we're going down" 🥲🥲😭😭😭
I’ve lost too many friends for various reasons.
Thank you
- A new lifelong fan
Glad you still are here ;)
Que música perfeita, que nostalgia dessa época, ouvir New Found Glory e zuar com os amigos da escola, realmente a vida era melhor.
This definitely has that early 2000s feel, which I love to hear! I miss those days.
Love the references and the song is just amazing! So glad to be able to listen to this
Those were the best years of my life bro this song is a great reminder 😢
I'm about to turn 18, on November 14th. It's actually nuts that 2003 was that long ago. I'm simultaneously really young compared to others (especially the ones that reminisce on those days) but also basically an adult.
Cherish your youth because it goes by really fast. The most important thing is to build relationships and make memories.
I randomly remembered about this song a week ago and it took me until now to find it again
I Miss As It Is
I met my husband in 2003 ❤️ now we have been married for 10 years and have two children!
These lyrics are so perfect because I actually was 16 in 2003.
this song is just references to loads of others, make it so much better.
I'd kill to go back in time. This song feels so close to back when I first heard you guys. It's not Blenheim Palace but the "Okay" reference was appreciated. It quickly became one of my favorites of you guys.
4 in the morning singing new found glory and the top of my lungs put a big smile on my face. Excellent song!
